Pay attention to whether your friends like your partner. Make a point of trying to get the true opinion of friends you trust. Don't live together before you are married because it makes it too hard to leave when you should. It's comfortable, it's convenient, but it's a mistake. It also makes it too easy to drift along without making a decision.

The argument is that men are fleeing without their wives and children. Is it true? We don't know, but the crowds at the airport are mostly men.

Ridiculously high house prices in high carbon emitting countries are thus good for the encouragement!

It's more recent than that. It was easy enough in the nineties. But at the same time it was expected that you would have children and somewhat odd if married couples chose not to have children. There was a lot of social pressure to have a family. Frequently it would be assumed that the couple was infertile, that is, defective. A hundred years ago, offspring were needed for their free labour, particularly in agriculture. Children were a net benefit financially, even a necessity.

Not the case in countries with a year maternity leave, yet still the birthrate is low.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
