I mean, I also don't think it makes a whole lot of sense for her to be a gold digger here when none of the money the guys are spending to see her is actually going to her. But at this point we're just getting to different interpretations and I can't really argue too much :P

Once again, she didn't indicate this. We don't know that she has no money, property, or compassion. All we know is that her past boyfriend wouldn't pay $35 to buy an uber to come and see her, and that she's happier in a relationship where someone paid more to do so. Maybe she did do all the things along the lines of putting in effort, driving out, spending money, and being compassionate; but felt like she was never appreciated for any of it because her partner didn't do the same. Also, extrapola…

He's spending more effort within the context of the original post, in that he's spending the money to see her. Maybe she felt like if she didn't put money/effort in herself, she and her first partner would have never seen each other. And going by that, perhaps she chose to use how much money/effort her current partner was putting in as a point of contrast from her first partner. It's not a perfect way of illustrating it, as there are other reasons for one partner to not drive to see the other as…

I actually took "My ex would not pay $35 to uber to me" to mean that her ex wouldn't pay $35 to come and see her. And then I could ask the same questions of did he have a car? Did he have a job to pay his way? But I guess the wording can have multiple interpretations. I also took "talking to" as being probably a lot vaguer than other people in the comments have; it's not very indicative of how long they've known each other to me, so I assumed it had been at least a while. And even if it hadn't, …

That's a little fuzzier, I know a lot of people in these comments are making the argument that she's being a gold digger, but honestly I took the original post to be more about being in a one-sided relationship vs one with more mutual effort involved. Especially bc it was about her ex not coming to see her, we don't know if she put effort into seeing him or not, but she might have. The energy I took away from the original meme was more akin to "if you're in a relationship that feels one-sided, t…

Are you being serious? Nothing in this post indicates that she didn't have the ability to go and see him, or that she never did. All she said was that he never paid for an Uber to see her. For all we know, this could have just been a one-sided relationship where she put in all the effort and he put in none. Sex isn't even mentioned until the reply. You're also asserting that a woman's only facets of worth are 1) her property value 2) her applicable social worth, and 3) her fuckability. Good luck…

Within the original context of the post though, you're still asserting that it would be better for the person paying $800 in order to see someone they were talking to, to find something else bc "they could just be having sex for free instead". Which basically boils down the original woman's value (to him) to how easily/cheaply he can have sex with her. Ik a woman's value and how much people desire them are separate things, but that is currently the only difference being ascribed between the woma…

Asexual people exist, not everyone wants sex with romance.

Why is it even being assumed that the original guy flew out solely to have sex with her??? And that any cheaper option would be better bc clearly all that he cares about is whether he gets to have sex or not. Gosh, reading through this thread it's like a woman's only value is how inexpensively you can fuck her.

I don't think this is about "selling oneself out", I think this is more about finding someone who values your time. Maybe she was paying money to go and see them too, and the second guy was the only one who actually put in effort back. No one likes being in a one-sided relationship, and I feel like the original post was more about effort than money.

I really don't get the love for this post? While yeah, people pointing out that there should be equal effort paying by both partners have a valid point, it can happen where a relationship dynamic doesn't feel equal and it feels better to find someone who values your time more if it can't be improved. Boiling that down to "hur hur the guy who values you more is just paying to fuck you" (and assuming that's not something the woman wants) and that the other guy knew that she wasn't worth his time (…
