But this space is for a movement, surely you want others to join, or no? You can't really complain if you don't engage with 50% of the species to try and come to resolutions

And do you think that's fair?! Isn't that exactly the kind of behaviour you're trying to challenge and fight against?!

This isn't a subreddit just for men though, it's a subreddit for men's rights?

You're not stupid but it does vary hugely across the world

This is one of the few subs where I filter comments by controversial to read things I agree with. Comparing and competing is not going to get anyone anywhere. Men and Women are literally the two biggest groups on the planet, they both have complex and important issues and the suffering of one should not diminish the suffering of another. Many of these comments and posts are doing exactly what they hate so much about radical feminists and it's getting dangerously close to women in general. It's c…

You raise a very good point. I think it's fantastic. It's really worth everyone bearing in mind that it is necessary to compare to the other gender often when fighting for equality. How this is done is very important though, because it can easily turn into a wo/man bashing session

India is one of the most dangerous countries for women, obviously it would be better if everyone had free public transport, or perhaps if it was means tested. But in many places in India if women are not accompanied by a relative or husband then they are seen as fair game. The rape statistics for India are insane, even if some of those are false I don't think anyone should see this as a war on men but merely a desperate and crude attempt to increase safety

While I see this is unfair there is a cultural context to this

Yeh, you know what? You're probably right. That's why I'm here though. Even though I get downvoted every time I ask a question :P

You sound like a reasonable guy, and you even mention in your post the difference between real feminists and extremists. There are extremist people in any movement that tend to make the movement look bad. You only have to have a quick peruse of this sub to read some pretty offensive stuff. Does that mean all men's right activists are toxic? Obvs not. What this women is doing is clearly insane, but example of what feminism has come to it is not.

There are loads of good feminists, the posts on here always focus on extremists. There are loads of good Men's Rights activists too, also a healthy dose of hate filled extremists. Those people are the lost cause, not the movements themselves

I'm so used to seeing posts blaming feminism for everything that I have become confused. Thanks for explaining :P

Ah fair enough, paedophiles suck. Not sure why you're blaming feminists...

I'm not saying this doesn't happen, but is most a bit of a stretch? That most men have been sexually assaulted by women at a young age? I find it surprising

Thank you for your answer! I'm from the UK and I think things are a little fairer here but maybe I'm wrong. My dad didn't want custody and paid £5 ($9) a month each for my sister and I until we were 14 then nothing. While I'm sure these points are valid in many cases and I agree those cases would be unfair, if my partner and I got married and then divorced he'd get half my house and savings and I'd get nothing from him. I'm not disagreeing, I'm not sure about marriage either, seems kind of unrom…

While it's important to bring these toxic tweets to life and discuss them, please remember this is a spiteful minority. None of the women I've talked about have ever really cared. I watched a documentary about Love Honey (the online sex shop), their most popular dildo is like 5 inches or so. These people tweeting are internet trolls, don't let them make you think your dick isn't enough, it's a cliche but it's truly what you do with it. Tmi prob but my ex had a massive dick, sadly he was dick abo…

I'm from the UK so I don't know much about other legal systems, or my own lol, but I can you sue someone for slander if they falsely accuse you? I know it wouldn't really help the reputation part, but if it was a more common thing maybe people would think twice. I'm female, but I know what it's like to be falsely accused, I was in an abusive relationship for about a year, after a break down in the middle of it I was simply too weak to leave, eventually he got bored of me and left. He convinced m…

I personally love exploring both women's rights (dirty F word) and men's too, with my partner, friends, whoever. I want to expand my mind and hear from both sides. There are always going to be prickly assholes on either side, these people get in the way of us making a fairer world for all. MGTOW is, in theory, a great idea, get your own life in order, look after yourself, love yourself and if you do meet someone, it'll be much more likely to be the right one. Works the same for women, no one lik…

I'm not pro life or conservative, in fact I'm a feminist, but this is a very good point. It isn't fair that men can so easily be duped by contraception and have a wanted baby aborted or vice versa. It's so hard to know how to tackle it though, I don't think it's ever fair to force a person to give birth. But the other way round where men can revoke their rights might work. However I find it bizarre this tweet is pro life because I'd add that this would work best with safe access to abortion.

I hate this kind of rhetoric. It's not helping anyone. It's a personal choice whether to observe holidays/festivals or not. I have a single mum and she gets treats on both days, because she was both to me. And guess what? Until I posted on here no one knew that but my sister and her. The way it should be.

People seem to have a tendency towards extreme views and absolutes, I don't know whether it's a recent thing but I find it fatiguing. It's like something isn't "enough" if it's rational or something

Mmmm I agree with you to some extent. I think it's a very dangerous area, because who is to say what these truths are. Most traits are a bell curve, whether that be physical, mental, social traits etc. And these bell curves overlap. I've never seen one that doesn't but I'd be interested if there are any studies showing distinct characteristics. If the bell curves overlap you're always going to get people who are more "female" or "male" in their characteristics. It's very important to stay away f…

It's the nature vs nurture debate and very difficult to untangle. There are few absolutes when it comes to humans, always someone bucking the trend

I didn't say they'd cause me to give up, because they won't. But it's a more than a few mean words, you don't need to look far to find comments like this. Plus it's already been up voted by 10 people. Of course I see the same from feminists. I am just saddened that more people seem to be focused on bashing others than they are on working together to solve the human suffering we all share

Yeh so I come here because I love men and care deeply about their rights. And then I see stuff like this and think, why am I bothering when clearly I am not welcome here

I think it's a great idea. It breaks my heart that people use both movements to just hate on the other gender. It's turned into a war where no one can get heard, it shouldn't be a competition of who has it worse, and the idea that because one group has it worse the other group's concerns aren't valid is so toxic. Each gender has unique challenges and in balancing and addressing one, it can cause new issues to arise. That doesn't mean the progress was wrong, but it also doesn't mean that the new …
