An AI could never have human like consciousness because it would never have a need for one. Think about it. What would a conscious being do if it has all its need met to sustain existence? ( assuming that it would want to exist which is a big assumption considering it wouldn't have a biological constraints of sorts to motivate it into action) would an AI have a will?
