You're completely ignoring the negative connotations of abnormal. Would you feel the same way if we called a white man normal and a black man abnormal?

yeah actually. "normal" indicates that its the only normal option. So if being cis-sexual is "normal" that seems to imply that being gender queer or trans-gendered is "abnormal" So cis- came about as term to refer to people who's gender identity and body match. There's nothing bad or abnormal about being trans* so there's no reason to cal cis-sexuals "normal"

This was a really helpful post. Thank you. Its good to know that people care about those issues, but also good to know that the primary focus on the subreddit is legal/news etc And I agree, the actions to be a good man are really the actions to be a good person, gender regardless.

That's a fair point, I'd definitely be interested in learning more about that. While I do consider myself a feminist, I definitely don't conform to a lot of their views. I also absolutely consider myself an egalitarian. However, In my experience, most of the feminists I've dealt with haven't expressed the views you seem to have experienced.

Well I am a feminist. But that doesn't mean that I don't care about Men's Rights. As I said before, I don't see the movements as in opposition. I don't think I could be called a White Knight by any stretch of the imagination. One thing I most certainly not, is a troll. I'm trying to add to the conversation with this thread. I agree It's extremely sad to see the societal views of men interacting with children, and the immediate prejudice against them. I worked at a day camp for many years and I know first hand how careful you have to be. I've even seen a co-worker nearly fired of extremely false claims of harassment (the mother accused him, not the child). It was horrible to see

While I do agree with you on some points, I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. When I said I see men feeling threatened thats exactly what I meant. I didnt mean that it is cowardly to oppose something. Its quite brave. What I meant was that I see men lashing out towards feminism and women in general because they feel that they're manhood is being threatened. You're right. I should have phrased that better. I certainly didn't mean to imply that false accusations of rape are not a serious concern. They absolutely are. clearly not the popular opinion here, but they're right. If a woman, or a man, is under the influence of alcohol, they can't give consent. Obviously, that doesn't mean that all sex in which one or more people have been drinking is rape. certainly its a gray area, but I can't in good conscience say that anyone who is mentally impaired by drugs or alcohol can give consent
