Well, I appreciate the help in clearing it up. I just want it to be clear that I am not interested in starting any sort of campaign against this fellow, or making a big deal out of it. I decided to edit my response. None of this was necessary, especially not your last line. In my opinion, this is more about that particular thought than who said it, and the tendency to excuse women's behavior by blaming men for causing it. I'm not going to start a war against this guy, or you. I have tried to be reasonable in my responses, but you guys keep chiding me for even bringing it up. I can see that. Thats what threw me - in spite of his guiding thesis, he's skeptical. I wasnt sure whether the person he was quoting was real, either. But I will say this - I don't like his thesis, and I am getting tired of men who say such things.

This is listed as humor, but honestly I am not sure what part of it is supposed to be funny. It comes across as somewhat sincere. Add to it the fact that by the end, men have been blamed for the book's popularity.... Personally it doesn't bother me that this book is popular, and thats all I'll say about it. :)

Yes, its good to see these positive representations and important to celebrate them, especially now. On a personal level, I am going to make this coming father's day the best I possibly can for my Dad, because he deserves recognition and respect. I am never going to forget everything he has done for our family, this memory will not die. My problems with this: One, a rather broad statement is made here on the basis of a single person. I wonder how a diverse class of male students would have responded to an aggressive personality. Two, the approach that the author uses to back up his opinion terrifies me.
