Be happy you will not be paying alimony as me after 27 years of marriage.

I was thinking the same was until I finished studying the campground prices. My conclusion is it’s more expensive that staying in hotels, unless you park near Walmarts and Home Depot’s. I think you will come up with the same conclusion buddy.

An aggressive lawyer will suck your money dry. Look for a lawyer and ask for the transcripts of the cases he won. You can also try to find his cases on justia.org

Well maybe he does or does not care, but the NJ government forces him to care until his kids are 26 (!) The kid can get married when he is 18, starts drinking officially at 21, but the father must support this overgrown kid until 26. I agree that slaves rarely run from slavery in this country.

What?? Man, I am sorry, you are screwed. You better read this: https://lawdiva.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/ill-just-leave-the-country-and-pay-nothing/

Don't pay, she should have negotiated with you first. Also if the kid goes to college, there is no more child support. Sorry you've been an alimony slave.

You are entitled to pay alimony if your income is higher, child support until your kid emancipates and 50/50 of things you had together with your soon to be ex.

>> 3: invest his retirement money in trust and other avenues that would make it difficult to access in the future. Trusts cost money, for example $5-7$ per year if you create a trust in Belize for example. You would not want a trust hosted in the US as you plan to live overseas. Like I said you need to trust the 3rd world countries and their banks, which might not be a good decision.

Yes, Divorce Corp documentation shall be required to be watched by all who get married before they get married and they should sign a waiver that they watched it and understand the consequences :)

Lawyers would not give you an advice. They will tell you the dangers of doing this stuff. I did that and found it would be real difficult since we live in the technology age and it would be really easy to find where the person is. After that the ex can take legal actions and it would be painful.

Sure! I would admire you if you leave. One guy did it from Canada, and here is the thread: https://lawdiva.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/ill-just-leave-the-country-and-pay-nothing/

They can't suspend your passport for just thoughts to leave. If your spouse is in (large) alimony arrears that the court is aware of, then they can actually suspend your passport and even driver's license. But if you leave suddenly, nobody could stop you.

I am 100% with you: alimony is slavery and shall be abolished. I was one of the slaves, it is painful and destructive to a person. But would it be more comfortable when you still live in the country you want to live and visit your relatives anytime you want?

Learn negotiation skills, for example Roger Dawson "The Secrets of Power Negotiations", Getting to Yes, Getting Past No, Peter B. Stark and Jane Flaherty "The only negotiating guide you'll even need" etc. Threaten to leave the country and negotiate to pay a ransom that you can afford.

You should be worried about the other countries that can extradite you. Here is the list: https://www.wsfa.com/story/22665099/countries-with-no-extradition-treaty-with-us/ Of course, your family members can always come to visit but would they fly overseas for this? and how often?

Leaving the country is always an option. Just calculate the risks of never returning. Have you ever lived in other countries? If so which ones?

Well you choose: go a crappy country with a thought you can’t even visit your motherland, plus you lose all the benefits like social security and the best healthcare (yes, the best).

Not gonna help, There are reciprocal agreements between states so even TX will collaborate.

Easy said than done. Takes huge efforts, including moral (family, friends) as well as financial. US has treaties with other (good) countries, so the only way to move to a crappy one - not a good choice as the US is the best country in the world. Trust me!

Number 2. Divorce but stay together would not fly as he will be owning his ex anyways and the judge can force him to pay (sell the house etc). As for leaving the country: I was contemplating this for a while and I used it in negotiations with my ex (I got to pay permanent alimony for life). Eventually I paid her a ransom and I’m now free. Good luck!

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
