No not at all, actually therapy isn't meant to "make you happy", but being able to talk completely openly with another human and getting feedback can help you process things inside of yourself. It's about working on yourself and finding healthy ways to cope, not about magic rainbow of happiness. Actually feeling sadness and accepting pain is a big part of it.
