Thank you for this article. As somebody, who has been lurking here for quite some time (years), I am still coming to terms with all the bullshit I have been (or, in fact, been not) taught regarding relationships between men and women. Understood. I live by "making informed decisions" mantra, so dig up as much information as you can before you decide what to do. One thing to note here - I don't know exactly how it works in U.S., and IANAL, but "having a formal residence and actively living there" and "having a formal residence, but living with a partner, and having a signed lease with that partner" are 2 distinctly different things. Just keep that in mind.

it's absurd that men can be forced to pay child support without confirmation that the child is his. It's actually worse - if man does not act quickly enough when it comes to testing the paternity, he can be forced to pay it even if child is truly 100% not his. I saw this discussed several times all over the Reddit, and I am pissed as fuck every time I get to hear/read about this.

If a mother 'needs' child support then she isn't going to have the funds to pay damages. Make the government "lend" it to a woman so she can fulfill her obligations, and then make her pay it back. However: Paternity tests should be absolutely compulsory before making a man pay child support. I am surprised this is still not implemented in most countries in the world.
