5	I'm not British but, this is appalling. Of course women can be the perpetrator of sexual violence, that’s a ridiculous thing to say. When a woman is the perpetrator the crime is called “sexual assault”. To be convicted of a crime in the UK, a jury of 12 must (usually unanimously) find you guilty “beyond a reasonable doubt”. This is a very high bar to get over. The justice system isn’t perfect, but it is very robust. The laws apply to everyone regardless of gender. At sentencing, mitigating circumstances are taken into account. I too think that it’s a good thing to provide free period products, but I too care about truth and I’m always suspicious of a warped narrative. I wonder whether, on this issue, the problem isn’t the absolute cost of the items but the real-world trade offs that women make. By this I mean, perhaps poorer women are more inclined to forego their period products in favour of what they see as necessities for their kids.
