Second this. In my country the overwhelming majority of automatic cars are on the higher end than manuals, so automatic drivers are perceived as more successful financially and in career. Manual drivers are stereotyped as poorer insecure attention seekers with "Real men drive three pedals!" bumper stickers. Ofc when it comes to manual luxurious or performance cars, this doesn't apply. Nobody bats an eye if you drive a manual Lambo, it's a lambo, panties drop anyway.

Yes, but middle manager is just one example of oversupplied position. Computer Science jobs right now is in the sweet spot of high demand and low supply. I don't think it's the case in the next 20 to 30 years. At that time, CS jobs would just be as commonly supplied as accountants, economics degree jobs, etc CS is a low barrier entry field. This. When I was in early 20 i was baffled on how I failed approaching women, while I never had any trouble whatsoever in my teenage years. I felt like it took little to no effort. David Heinemeier, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, etc are exceptions, not the norm. Tell me what are the vast majority of dropouts and lower tier grade achievers doing now, financial and career wise? This post rings true for entrepreneurs and people with alternative lifestyles e.g. Athletes, Artists, etc. But for the vast majority of people? they better stick with good grades and good social skills. Many top tier companies employ and are based in 'not so big' cities. The 'cool' scenes e.g. startups and finance are in fact located in 'big' cities but a large portion of 'big' businesses and careers are spread here and there.
