This is just tragic. If someone values having you in their life, and you like being in their life, the "right thing to do" is respect that they know what's good for themselves. Don't second-guess other people's personal choices because of your own self-esteem issues. You definitely do not know better. Get help.

There's no excuse for the filth element, but I have sympathy for men on all other points. I wasn't taught how to groom myself and learned the hard way. When I first heard what a cuticle is I honestly thought it was a stupid notion. I assumed it would take a long time and change nothing. But I tried it, and it turns out it takes almost no time and changes a lot. Most men I think don't look at their bodies and homes as places where they can excel. They think "my nails have been cut, I did the task…

Yes! Avoiding wrinkles is pretty simple. For most clothes, just remove them from the dryer promptly and fold/store them correctly. Ironing is not hard or time-consuming for any garments that do need it, but if pulling out the ironing board is some sort of barrier for you, get a little steamer, you can freshen up your shirts while they're still on the hanger.

Take care of your hands - have your fingernails trimmed and clean. Good god, this. It's the only reason I even clicked on the thread. Most men's hands range from raggedy to downright disgusting. It's a level of self-neglect that I genuinely do not understand. Here's how to have a masculine but tidy manicure for men who don't give a shit: 1) Go ahead and cut your nails as short as you want, even right down to the quick if you insist, but pay attention to cut them into straight lines or symmetrica…

Even "sluts" are allowed to dislike sexism, misogyny, rape culture, and harassment. She consented to be sexualized in the last panel, not before.

My MIL's ex-husband married her for this reason. He figured she's foreign and desperate to suck the dick and clean the shoes of any white man with a job. He bit off more than he could chew with her, and they're divorced (good riddance, the man's a real pill).

You need an attitude adjustment starting yesterday. It takes a deeply childish and arrogant person to think "everyone I know has struggled with this, but I won't, because I'm superior to all of them." This is such an unattractive personality flaw and it is really unacceptable in an adult. Employers and friends will be put off by it, and so eventually will your husband. Replace your habit of judgement with a sense of curiosity. Connect with the women in your life and learn what has happened in th…

I think you missed my point, let me rephrase it. Dealbreakers are normal and reasonable, and it's expected for you to disqualify people from your dating pool if they have a dealbreaking characteristic. What's NOT good, is if you take the absence of a dealbreaker to be a qualifying characteristic per se. It's the difference between saying "if you are unattractive I will not date you" which is reasonable, or "if you are not unattractive I will date you" which is not. (The latter is a necessary, bu…

I don't think this is good for women either, for three reasons. I'm 5'4 and 105. I know a lot of people consider me desirable solely because of my size. 1) In other words, they are not attracted to me so much as they are unattracted to other women. I don't want to be with someone who doesn't care what I look like or who I am merely because their other options aren't great. "You'll do, at least you're not fat" is not a good basis for a partnership. 2) I also think men who pick a partner based on …

Braids -- french, crown, all sorts French twist Any youtube tutorial with "volumizing" in the title Avoid styles that require you to separate your hair into multiple sections for any reason, like two buns or half-up styles, because thin hair means the sections will look funnily small. Hair rats help updos look bigger, add shape and form, and make pinning the hair in place easier in certain styles. For instance my hair slips out of a naked twist quickly but if I wrap the twist around a rat and pi…

Okay, now this is starting to make sense. It's about the house, but it's also about your place in the blended family. Regarding the house, I have to be honest, you sound unreasonably controlling and I think you need to let go of that. You can still enjoy the experience you've always wanted without shutting out the other three people who live there from participating or making any decisions without running them through you. I think you're holding on to this control more than you realize because i…

Okay but the person RECEIVING the gift is the one who chose that word. If the man/woman giving the game/panties said it was a reward, yeah, that's messed up. But you can't read motivation into the giver based on the words someone ELSE used, you don't know if that word choice reflects something the giver wanted to communicate or not. It seems to me this person got a gift to say congratulations, then made a funny picture with a tongue-in-cheek phrase attached. It's clearly intended to be humorous …

I think you're confusing "invest" and "indulge" in yourself. Both have their place, though. When you take a class according to someone else's needs, that is still an investment in yourself -- even if it doesn't indulge your interests, you are going to leave the class with additional skills. Cooking for yourself is both an indulgence and an investment. You are building a skill that will save you money and keep you healthy into the future, as well as any future family you may cook for. It also is …

Ha, fair question! A little bit old fashioned and simple, I think. I like color, but not a lot of busy patterns. I want things that are relatively modest, but I don't mind an interesting neckline and I don't like loose clothing. I can never find blouses with a fitted waist. Peter pan collars are super cute. I'd like fuller skirts, not too short, that are high-waisted. Sundresses that don't look super casual. My biggest problem is that nothing fits. The straight waist style seems to be popular ri…

My problem is finding the dresses in the first place. I know how I'd like to dress, but I can't find those pieces in existence. I'm starting to think I should learn to sew. Any tips?

I think so, too, but "needing a man for protection" is so often seen as disparaging. Why should women who acknowledge what their partner brings to the table be scorned as "regressive shrinking violets" unless they overcompensate for their feminist guilt and assert they are strong and independent? My husband can protect me from the uncertainties of the future (say, if I lose my job, he probably won't lose his at the same time), things that go bump in the night (like it or not, I am better off wal…

Isn't that a huge point of trp? To quickly figure out what type of woman you're going after, what kind of relationship is worth pursuing with her, and then succeeding at it? It seems like a lot of the advice of trp is made to flush out the "wrong type" of woman for a ltr.

no modern women in westernized culture is only interested in a man because he can "protect" her. Anecdotal, but since you made an absolute statement I thought I'd post: I'm a counterexample to this assertion. I'm a modern, western woman. The comfort, safety, and security (both physical and emotional) that my husband brings to our marriage is extremely appealing to me. I trust him to provide a safe environment (again, both physical and emotional) and if I didn't, we would unquestionably not be ma…

Like you, I'm a woman who hasn't delved /too/ deep into trp. My understanding/interpretation of it is that it boils down to mutual respect, and a different understanding of how respect relates to inequality. I'm in a relationship that I'm pretty sure qualifies as red pill. I am grateful for my husband and his contributions to our life and marriage. We do not split work 50/50 or have an egalitarian/feminist marriage, and yet I do not feel /degraded/ or something by this inequality. Rather, becaus…

I'm supporting a different candidate, but I agree about this. The concept of my school intervening in a criminal matter in ANY way makes me more angry than anything else I've heard of. Campus police should not be accepted by Americans and I really can't imagine why they have been. If I call for police, I want the REAL goddamn police.

So I just read some of the other stuff in this thread, and it sounds like the root of your question is about the man's agency. If you ask your SO to go and he does, that does not make you controlling, and that does not make him whipped. He has agency. He made his own valid decision to grant your request and go with you. Let him own that decision; or if he feels it has become a problem, he is capable of saying "hey wife, I really love you and enjoy your company, but lately I have been feeling lik…

"I think I have an issue with saying "yes this is important to me" because I don't want to force anything and I need to work on that." Even if you /do/ say "yes, this is important to me," you didn't force him to go. He decided to be there to support you. He made the choice to go with you instead of friends. You gave him an important piece of information that he used as a tool when making that decision. He made the decision. You did not force him.

Communicate. This is basically a test of who will lose more, will you be miserable without him, or will he be super bored at your thing? The conversation is just a means of finding that out. (If your husband is generally manipulative or you feel the conversation is not happening in good faith, that is an entirely different issue with a bigger scope.) So you have a couple of options. 1) It is important to you. 2) It is not important to you. 3) It matters, but his enjoyment matters more. 4) His en…

I think it's just important to make the distinction between an invitation and a request. "Will you please go with me to this work party, I need a buddy!" is a different question from "Hey, I've got an awesome work party coming up, going to have a blast with the girls, do you want to come?" If you're not clear when you "invite" whether it's a request or not, this question is kind of legitimate... "Hey, wife, is this a please-come-with-me or a come-have-fun situation?" Even if that weren't the cas…
