We haven't even gotten to the first outing. Just been mutual friends and have made plans but none of them have actually been executed. We text a lot on insta, but idk if I should be forward in terms of just saying hey, I like you and would like to explore those feelings.

She's a flake. She seems down to hang, but I think it's time to just put her in the friend zone, and leave it there. I could definitely shoot one last hail Mary and say I have feelings for her and explore it, but I'm tried of being the one to initiate. I don't mind being one to start it, but if there's no reciprocity, then it's not worth it.

I've been in my local running group and all of the runners are 40+. I'm 28. Did have a thing with with an older woman, but still not anyone I could date.

You called it. She posted on Instagram today that she was out on a run with a friend. Either she's over the flu or she made an excuse day of. The high schooler in me wants to put a comment like "glad you're feeling better". But honestly that's giving her too much attention I feel.

I could follow up, but I feel like she should be the one to reschedule as she was the one who cancelled. So now we just wait and see. If she does cancel again, then I'm just going to move on

It wasn't necessarily coaxing as I didn't want to appear to be too forward. But I do see what you mean. If there was genuine interest it wouldn't have taken so long for us to finally hang out on a one-on-one setting.

I'm socially awkward which is the problem. Like would it be weird for me to just let her know that I'm not interested in hanging out because she has a boyfriend because I wanted us to be a date? Or do I go anyways and maybe I have a friend out of this which wasn't my intention asking around but maybe this is an investment for possibly dating her friends? I never been a situation like this before so it's a little weird when she said that and I thought it would be mad awkward to just back off when…

I like that. I'll do just that.

Fair enough. I mean I get it if she flakes. But it was nice hearing that she was up to still hang even after a long drive. If it doesn't happen tomorrow, it'll happen some other time. Edit: At the very least, it shows she is interested.

That's what I am waiting for too! She suggested it not me. I said alright. Now, the real test is sending that message Monday morning and seeing if she confirms. That would definitely be a huge green flag!

Perfect advice! I will do so the next time I see her!

And I will continue to swing. You’re right. I have already made plans to meet up with a girl this weekend for drinks so why should I bother with this one person? Thanks for keeping my head straight.

I was going to this subreddit to ask why do I feel sad about not getting the girl I was trying to get for the past couple of months because I just found out that she is now in a relationship. Idk why I felt kind of sad, because for the most part we really didn't have much in common except for one thing. But I realize(d) that we are in a different path right now in terms of life and there was never gonna be any real connection (romantically) ever going to happen. So why (if I am okay with the c…

I know what you mean. I've been there. And sometimes I feel like I am still there. Like you put in all this effort to make friends, but to not get any of that effort reciprocated. My suggestion is to download, if you have not have done so already, Meetup. It's an app where people set up events. There might be some events that interest you and you might want to go. From there, you will find other people that you might vibe it and create a friendship.

Well find people that want to spend time with you. People want to put effort with people they care about. It sucks when you realize that people that you thought were cool don’t really value your company and time. But still an important difficult lesson to learn.

They will if they are interested. I have some friends who are SUPER busy with work and school and life but we still find time to grab a meal and catch up. I think it stems from sometimes we have to be the leader in the relationship because that person is a bit of an introvert and that is okay. If a person is interested they won’t just say “no, I’m not free at that time.” But they would suggest a different time.

"It's the whole package and your lack of investment in yourself". That kind of mindset broke me free of the whole NiceGuysTM jail that I was in. I was always so angry at women who did not want to date me despite me being nice to them and always wanting to be there for them. Once I understood that there is more than just being nice to people (which is the least thing you can do to be a decent human being), that is when I started expanding my interests. I looked at different hobbies that interes…

I think you should be nice to everyone. Not an asshole to the people that you are romantically interested in (or just want to fuck). The difference is that NiceGuysTM think that them just being nice is enough for them to fuck the girl they are interested in. The difference is having self-respect and having your own life. Being just nice is boring., Being nice, but having your own life, busy with work, school, friends, etc is what makes someone an interesting person. You read on your free time? W…

I think that is a really interesting way to put it. Nice guys are the people that will bend over backwards for the girl they like thinking that that will get them laid. It doesn't work like that. I learned that the hard way. You don't have to even be an asshole to get the girl you want. Be a decent human being, but have some self-respect when it comes to getting respect from women. I am still a work in progress, but learning to leave the ball in the girl's court does wonders in terms of progress…

I agree. It's not really exaggerated. I can see all of this being very real conversations. I think the problem with a lot of straight men-speaking of one myself- is that some of them are insecure of having female friends who they are not going to bone. A lot of men don't want to hear that. And I understand it as I have been one of those people too. They think that the whole goal of making female friends is to one day get it in. That nice guy bullshit doesn't work anymore and it is very transpa…

I do really agree with this post a lot. I understand where the flak is coming from. This is an exaggerated post for good reasons. Men and women both have it difficult for different reasons. Some of them do overlap and it comes from what both parties want in the relationship. Girls want sex too, so it isn't fair that all a guy wants to do is just pump and dump. But I really do see your point. Guys go on dates, sometimes multiple ones and in their head figure out what they want in a relationship…

Asa straight guy, Once I’ve learned that it’s okay to have platonic friends, I’ve learned a lot about women. They have to be worried about everything that they say. Sure it’s easy for them to get dates, but think how scary it is that they have no idea who they are dating really. It’s super scary for them to say no, because of what the reaction might be. They have to be worried about their guy friends and make sure they are not just friends waiting to fuck them. What if the dude finally catches f…
