I asked my feminist type cousin who should pay for the first date. She said the man should pay basically because of child birth and it takes a lot more effort for a woman to get ready for the date.

I'm going to have to disagree with your strategy. I suggest asking for the check, and when it comes ignore it, keep talking, and let it sit there for a minute or two to see her reaction. If she doesn't even offer to split, I will still go ahead and pay for it. If I didn't I would get laid WAY WAY less. I've read Shit Tests 101 and most of the side bar. I just couldn't see how to apply those to this situation. If it was in person it would be easy enough to ignore, change the subject. Being in text message I thought it would be weird to just say "My place Friday 8PM." I would just be doing exactly what she just said bugs her. Maybe just reply "I want to see you" Or just don't reply at all and wait to see if she sends another message.
