I used to like it. This year I didn't really drink anymore because I want to focus on sports and just exclude alcohol from my life. As for partying, I haven't partied that much lately but even in clubs, I can't say it's easy to approach girls. I block out and am too shy to approach/dance with them.

Well, in actuality, some of those chats are only 1-2 messages long since I message them first and some never responded. I would say only 6-7 responded back and chatted a bit but it did not go anywhere...

Are you sure about that? I see and hear guys my age match easier than older guys. Hell, I'm failing harder than some 35-40yo who found their partners on Tinder and other dating apps. What frustrates me is that I'm not even ugly. I might not be a magazine model but according to objective attractiveness, I have certain features that aren't bad. It also seems like my height is not a decisive variable, as I see shorter guys than me having matches and their dating life is far more successful than min…

I decided to stop trying dating apps. They have never worked for me, my match rate is below every standard and I feel like I'm just wasting my time with false hope. Here is my Tinder insights It's so embarrassing too since I'm in my 20s and I live in a university town but it's hard getting matches, let alone dates. I've went the abstinence way to focus on the other important things in my life. Screw dating man.

That age gap is pretty off putting, I'm not going to lie :D ; but I get what you mean. Thing is, there is no guarantee you will do well with women even if you improve in the looks department and you're financially stable, there's still people at that age struggling with the same issue.

Do you mean that I can change this hopelessness? Or that I can accomplish my goal of living life without a partner without desiring one emotionally? I already started therapy again two months ago but things haven’t progressed much since. It’s hard for me to put in practice advices I’m given.

Thanks for the solution but I try to stay away from drugs as much as possible. I want to be able to do many sports and I just recently gave up on alcohol forever (or at least for long term haha)

Well, I’m not going for them really. I had the chance to spend time with girls whom one would consider both attractive and less attractive. The issue is that I never go out of my way to flirt or be more straightforward with the ones I was attracted of (or at least felt like something could click) due to my shyness around girls, can’t really make them laugh and maybe some are turned off by my shyness. I mostly rely on being a nice person to talk with and try to ask questions once one of us sort o…

Well, I already go to the gym and also started going to therapy again since 2 months, but it seems like it’s hard for me to put in practice some things and also what I was thinking about, the hardwiring thing to be precise. It’s just that I don’t know how to control it :/

Well, I do interesting stuff in my life. I travel when I have the possibility, I cycle, swim, hike in summertime, I read articles and books. It’s just that everything I do becomes insignificant when I compare myself to others and want what they don’t have (girlfriend, big social circle, more friends, more humor, charisma etc). While I also do these interesting things, I also tend to waste time on Reddit or Instagram, which I guess it’s destroying my self awareness and my self esteem. So I agree …

Good to hear that. I’m actually kind of in your situation too, no one in my family divorced except my parents 🥲 . Although I have to say that in my country/culture, people, no matter how toxic the relationship is, would stay in marriages because of the fear of not finding someone after, gaslighting, traditional views on divorce etc.

Damn, wish I had parents like yours, must be nice. Mine divorced when I was 2, my father just decided to cheat on my mom and made a baby with another woman. My mom hasn’t remarried since. I wish I could go back in time and make my dad somehow not cheat LOL, sounds weird but at least I would have had a complete family in my childhood. I’m happy for you though. Cherish these moments as you never know when they might end!

Well, there is an interest to a certain extent but there are some obstacles which block me from succeeding with girls and getting into a relationship. I also might have phrased my idea poorly. Many people tell you that you will eventually find a partner, but some people just won’t do it. Most people in this situation are seen as losers, unhappy, unfulfilled and bad decision takers. I want to have a plan B in regards to not having a partner of my own and that is why I asked if it is possible to l…

Should I have a plan B in regards to not having a relationship for the rest of my life or just hope so? I always had this anxiety around girls and I was never able to befriend girls, let alone attract them and be able to form a relationship with one. I only have 1 female friend and we’ve been friends since elementary, that’s the only girl I could befriend (I should mention we don’t see each other often and never felt attraction towards her). Too be honest, life is too beautiful and rewarding eve…

I want to take up a team sport but my anxiety and fear of judgement kick in So I haven’t been the most sporty all my life. Even though I learned how to swim and cycle since I was 4, and first hit the gym at 14, I was always a bit chubbier when I was in school and then got a bit skinnier at the beginning of high school. Now, my sport life is better than ever. I cycle, swim, go to gym pretty often and I want to start boxing and running more. I guess one could say I have a pretty active life, but I…

Yeah, couldn’t find my words in English, in my native language it sounds more natural when you refer to male and female friends and does not segregate Both genders 😄

What do you think I should do in order to make more female friends? In the past, I befriended girls only to start being attracted to them, and it usually ended in 2 ways: 1) started to distance myself from them because I was not brave enough to express my feelings for them, so the friendship slightly fell over, we didn’t keep in touch. 2) I tried expressing my feelings to them but if they told me that they either had a boyfriend already or were simply not interested, I would give up and not try …

I’ll probably just dress in nice normal clothes, hit a club and Say I’m dressed as a “handsome guy”. Wonder if it’s a good reply when people ask why I don’t have a costume
/r/PurplePillDebate28/10/22 01:02 PM

If gay people have lots of women friends and I don’t have much female friends, is it a good idea to start making gay friends so I can meet women through them? Every gay guy my age I’ve met had lots of female friends, some even pretty hot and cool girls.

I am 20 years old and never had a relationship, do you think the lack of intimate relationships could be a turnoff for most girls nowadays? I feel like they could perceive me as weird. I think of myself as someone below average in terms of physical attractiveness but it just never happens that I attract girls. In clubs, even less attractive guys pull a girl and I don’t. In social contexts, other guys can make girls laugh more and feel good than I can do. I feel like my shyness and lack of confid…

but why do something if you feel the need to hide it? I guess everyone does things they are more or less embarrassed of or fear being judged by others for doing it. why would you even want to be with someone who wouldn't associate with you because you saw an escort It's not about wanting to be with someone who would make this clear from the start, they don't even know whether I did it or not anyway, it's just the way this thing affects my self esteem which might impact the dynamic between me and…

Copied my reply from below 👇 Well, you’re actually kind of right, only I know about this, but I feel bad about lying when I get asked by friends if I found nice girls or had dates/flings/relationship opportunities. Except for one very good friend who asked me if I ever visited prostitutes (who surprisingly didn’t find it weird that I told him about it), I never told anyone else about it and I don’t really plan to. I will put it under the rug.

I do not live in that country anymore. Where I live right now, the laws regarding sexual trafficking are super strict and almost every woman here is not trafficked. Prostitution here is legalised. I never visited prostitutes in my country of origin. I should have mentioned this detail in my initial comment. But my initial feeling of embarrassment still stands.

When you make your point about it being good that I feel embarrassed, are you talking about the fact that I’m too young for this or about visiting prostitutes in general? And about losing your virginity, I actually don’t think the first time was a bad experience for me, I was pretty confident when I went in, I don’t think I would have had the same confidence level with a non-prostitute.

It certainly feels like a shortcut, I’m not going to lie. When I first tried it at 19, I was more curious about the sexual experience rather than it being a consequence of my frustrations over my romantic life. But once I went more and more, it became a coping mechanism and a bad habit to go there. At this age, I really feel ashamed that I wasn’t able to do it first with a girl my age or not in sex work but it is what it is…

Do you consider men who go to prostitutes an embarrassment or inferior? I am only 20 years old and if I told someone other than my parents that so far I have no relationship experience, never kissed a girl but visited prostitutes and had sex with them, I would feel so embarrassed and probably my confidence would drop below sea level. I grew up in a country where people view this as shallow, especially the younger generation, yet people are very hypocritical about it since my country has one of t…

Not even shy guys get a relationship, shyness just keeps you away from successfully creating the opportunity to get into relationship. If you suffer from it, it’s gonna take plenty of work to become a confident, outspoken and non-hesitant person. Women (and generally men) dislike shy guys at all costs. As a shy person, I can tell you this is how it is. You can have the best looks and ideal height in the world, but if you’re shy, you’re digging your own grave for failures. I do agree with your ot…

That sounds great honestly. I also believe that balance is key. You don’t really need to only work on yourself without meeting girls along the way, or even shooting your shot with some. Also, what’s the name of the book if you don’t mind me asking?

Would you include prostitutes in one’s body count? Because if not, my bodycount would be 0. I am in my early 20s and this makes sad sometimes too. I also tend to look at other people and their relationships. My 2 best friends from my homecountry have girlfriends and things go very well in their relationships. Although I am happy that they are happy, I can’t help but envy them sometimes. Only thing keeping me a bit afloat is that I have all the time for myself and don’t yet spend money on a girl,…

I definitely subscribe to this, man. It’s no wonder that social media and all these distractions have made us so out of touch with reality and the dating scene has changed immensely in a bad way I think. Nowadays, the dating gets more and more cut throat and if before you were not guaranteed love, then today it’s even more difficult to fulfil this wish. This weekend I’m going to my cousin’s (early 30’s) wedding. I just realised how lucky they are that they were born in the generation that barely…

I’m afraid height is not as relevant as people make it seem to be. I don’t know your height but being short is only in your head for this matter. People say I am pretty tall but this has not helped me with anything in life because it might be the only “good” thing about me :/ . So my advice is to be proud of your height, “short” ones look much better with muscles and are usually more liked by others from my experience ;)

I tell it to myself plenty of times already but I consider that in today’s dating standards, women just have it much much easier than me, as a man you must tick many boxes in order to have success, it feels very tiring and brings hopelessness inside me. I wish I could have lived during my parents time when social media didn’t have much of an influence :(

What is your definition of exciting, adventurous lives? I feel like for lots of people these differ greatly. For instance, I don’t really have groups of friends, social circles, but I guess I can do interesting stuff, like bike paths, hikes, ski, travelling. But I am not really partying all that much with friends or going to concerts/social events and other stuff. I do a lot of things alone, which has actually lowered my self esteem greatly. I feel like you can give the impression of a nice, gen…

I always tell myself so, that I should talk and approach freely, but something’s holding me back every f time. I know I have nothing to lose on 99% of times but fear of failure or possible humiliation just hold me captive and hinder my progress. You’re right about the conversation part. I should be less nervous and take it simply.

I don’t know where to start from (especially when talking about humor). It feels like it’s hard for me to crack good jokes and find the perfect timing with irony/teasing and all this stuff, I don’t have that critical thinking in social contexts which can make me funny. I sometimes run out of things to talk about and I don’t trust myself enough. I feel like in social skills I see a slight improvement but a pretty smallish one. Hopefully, I can do progress faster because it feels rushed now in 20s…

Thanks for the advice. I already started therapy so I will keep at it. I just feel like there is so much pressure to succeed at these social aspects now, especially in your early 20s and college time, that you feel like you should be in a rush to succeed at every one of these things, whether it is pick up, socialising, being in shape, making people laugh and enjoy your company. It just feels very stressful and fast paced. As for the social awkwardness, I would rather actually classify it as more…
