You can't say you lose autonomy when you accidentally impregnate someone dude. That's how pretty much all pregnancies happen. Don't want a baby for sure? Don't have sex with that lady. That's. The. Deal. Sex is for making babies. Feels good. But that's what it's for. Take control where you have it. Everyone runs a risk when having sex. Be smart and make better choices. It is presently becoming more of an issue. Condoms have never been limited in their access to my knowledge and both sexes have access to that equally. Often the group that's been benefiting most from that norm is going to feel the stress. The fact is setting laws to try to compensate for societal norms is a messy way to solve a socially taught problem. It's a lot of hours, investment, teaching and learning. Doing all of that alone is hard. Exhausting. I doubt many would say it's a burden but they wouldn't discredit how much they're doing either. You have to remember that statistical gathering is happening in a cultural filter. What is culturally acceptable to report, try, convict, and sentence is all quietly influencing those statistical outcomes. It's important to remember numbers don't lie, but they don't tell the whole story. The numbers can't themselves be discriminatory. Interpretation can be. And inaccurate. If women are brave enough to say they were raped by a man, men might get charged for rape. Conviction can be difficult but happens. Most men who are raped by women don't even report it. Those women can't get charged. Statistics wouldn't be able to reflect an absence of something tho. There used to be rules that they wouldn't kill a kid or pet in screen because it made people upset. Like they wouldn't see the movie when word of mouth lit up.
