Okay. Lets say the mother does provide daycare - now she cannot work to bring in an income. So she would still need more than $1000 most places to keep a roof and utilities over herself and her child's head. Add in more for groceries and a method of providing transportation to medical appointments if the kid needs that. Either situation, it costs money to survive to even take care of a child.

A pissing contest over whose struggles are greater? That's definitely an effective way to rally support across the lines. I think you'd find those that desire true equality more receptive to the legitimacy of certain complaints if you'd also recognize the legitimacy of some of their individual complaints in this realm. Struggles are unique to the individual. Getting lost in whose is greater instead of searching for solidarity only furthers the divide.

While I wouldn't be inclined to go to this type of an event. As a woman I don't like the obvious undertone the different prices suggest. After all, if you are not the consumer, you are the item being sold in these types of things.

This is fair to consider. For example the cost difference between a studio apartment for a single person and a 2 bedroom house in an area where you won't hear gunshots at night. The line is blurry on things like that for sure.

These hypothetical children must live in an area where public schools are adequate. I live in Florida. Most of our high school graduates can't pass the GED test, if they graduate at all. That being said, I don't have any stakes in this as a childfree individual but I was browsing your subreddit.

Exactly this! $20 keeps me able to get to work for a week, if I couldn't get to work I'd lose my source of income, be unable to pay rent, consequently become homeless, it snowballs...

Medicare doesn't cover contraceptives unless "medically necessary". Medicaid does as long as its not an IUD in my state.

I share a similar viewpoint to you but on the contrary I have only been with cut men. I've also mostly lived in the south where there tends to be a more religious community... I wonder if those are related.
