Currently reading the book after having previous experience with meditation. The stages are described really well and the author does a tremendous job making the material more accessible to Western readers just by using more Western concepts. The only criticism I have is that he doesn't state time frames for the various stages or doesn't clearly communicate that you can't know these things. Western people usually like to hear stuff like "by week three you should be able to" or "after a month you…

You just become so much more calm and pleasing to be around (typically), including for your own self, primarily because you learn how to catch yourself doing all those undesirable little things (ex. negative self-talk, criticizing people, being anxious, being socially abrasive) and slowly flushing them out of your character. I regularly get downvotes when I say that it is entirely possible that things get a bit worse when you start meditating. For me it was realizing how shitty I can be or was i…

To continue the critique, the article also states Women’s cognitive peaks tended to be higher than men’s on all three tests, [...] Which very well could mean that cognitive function times working time is similar to men. Or higher. Or lower. Point is we can't draw this conclusion from the secondary source OP provided. Note further that the study doesn't state that 60h is the limit of work - we get that data from other studies on work and they come to drastically lower bounds for various reasons -…

Let's say you go to a Christian church. You would obviously claim to be a Christian whether you are or not, but you need traits which distinguish you from others. That is just restating and not clarifying. Pick anything that is orthogonal and not opposed to the group you are a member of. For example, in a corporate environment, where obedience to the rules is paramount, do not get a face tattoo. Make a show of following the written and important unspoken rules like wearing a suit and being there…

The perfect measure of a good teacher is the total number of and the rate at which their students go on to achieve excellence. The classic example is the fat and unfit trainer that regularly produce world-class athletes. This is one of the reasons you should prefer older teacher and mentors, not only for their experience in the subject at hand, but also because you can be more confident in the quality of their advice when you see many other succeeding before you. In the same vein, the quality of…

This is something I noticed: The most successful people I know almost never raise their voice or use harsh language. At most, they use it on a case-by-case basis but never on a categorical basis as OP seems to imply. Of course, then being singled out hurts that much more.

This is similar to one of my arguments against unnecessarily criminalizing behaviours outside of violent crime: Once you loose your spotless record, you have nothing more to lose, you are "in the system." In jail for weed? Why not go in to low-key theft. A slow or not-so-slow descent into crime. Now all that is needed, is for you to stand where your buddy touched a woman, and you are "in the system." At that point, why care?

The moment I got my degree I will move out of this disgusting country. Where to? No one seems to be able to give a reasonable answer to this. All countries with both high income and education levels seem to go the same path, and the rest are either not accepting of Europeans or comparatively very poor and/or corrupt.

You would benefit from reading Greenes Mastery. To be honest, "finding your calling" was the weakest part of that book. I am unable to extract concrete, actionable advice from there. Sure, it gives some inspiration, but that is not enough.

Thank you for writing this post, giving me the push needed to again seek out mentors in the areas I want to significantly progress in. Very few men in history have succeeded without having a mentor, and those who did relied heavily on reading vast quantities of books. Strange how the idea of mentorship has been pushed out of the public consciousness. It is alive in martial arts clubs and I have very fond memories of submitting myself and growing very quickly by following their advice. One more t…

I can get behind the idea of taking it off the pedistal, and breaking covert contracts. I can't get behind the subtle shaming of men for doing it. This seems to be the gist of the post. Of course most Chads would be married, they just follow the script and it contains marriage. The actualized man however writes his own script: If it contains girls, so be it. Actually, this is the higher point of OP's post: Chasing girls later in life can be still following the script, "catching up" so to speak. …

Thank you for writing this. Lifting and good diet are honestly just something that I see as a prerequisite backbone, and it can give you a dangerous false sense of confidence. The sheer number of things a person can improve over their lifetime is just staggering. Although we can identify some as the basis for the rest or as extremely beneficial, they are not all there is to it. Bodybuilding can be an unhealthy development and extension of the male hamster wheel which develops narcissism and exis…

Buddhism promises the end of all suffering and a perpetual, unwavering happiness. I extrapolate from how I feel after a meditation session: Very good. If that will become 'locked in' by Enlightenment, sign me up.

If you want to start a business, designing it to the end from the very beginning. A very interesting saying here is that an entrepreneur is not building this product or that service, but the product they're building is the company itself. This changes the perspective and begs the question: How do I build this that it will keep running without me?

Of course spiritual enlightenment is the ultimate red pill, but I don't think many of us are going to swallow that one any time soon. Depends on which tradition you follow. Some of branches of Buddhism for example believe that you can attain Enlightenment in this life without becoming a monk.

Never cared enough for their opinion to research or even to remember. We had some wave of feminism or another, lead by Alice Schwarzer, who proposes the Swedish model because of course prostitution is oppression. But besides her - nowadays and in the past she is seen as extremist - only the conservative circles are against legal prostitution. Valid concerns remain regarding forced prostitution, since other countries in Europe are not as liberal regarding sex trade. Besides, prostitution in Germa…

You're not thinking creatively enough. All this stuff needs resources like wool, cotton, petroleum, natural gas, rare earths. You need the facilities processing these into valuable products. All possible ways to generate and extract value along the chain in one way or another. Considering all these basic needs and all the factors involved in producing them I'm just always surprised about the focus on residential real estate. A post on how to get involved in any of those basic needs would be extr…

1) no one will ever care about your property as much as you will This can be mediated by setting their fee as a proportion of rent. But yeah, ultimately they don't care as much, and select them as carefully as a business partner - because they are. 2) realtors as property managers often make things difficult because they either DGAF (the real money for them is when you get fed up and sell), or they are just dumb as fuck. Never set up incentives in such a way that someone profits from your demise…

If you actively enjoy the work, more power to you. It is just surprising how unwilling people seem to be to spend some money in return for free time, always with the same justification "Just do it yourself, it is cheaper that way." Thank you for mentioning management companies, people seem to be hell-bent on managing their properties themselves, but to me it always just seemed like a massive, unnecessary headache. Just pay someone else to do it, pay insurance to get the headache of sudden big expenses off your mind and use the free time and peace of mind to get better at your chosen profession or further increase returns.

Since I am just starting out in the vast world: Is your payment schedule something absurdly unusual or does it appear in other markets and industries as well? It works the other way around, too. I clearly remember phases where I was hanging out with people all day and satisfying my addictions plain and simply didn't occur to me. Not because I was unable to, mind you I still had privacy in the evenings, the urge just wasn't there. On the reverse, after a couple of days alone for whatever reason, I start to give in to addictions way too much. Hanging out with people, even if only for a short time, reverses that trend. Funny how that goes.

I'm going to try this later. Some people love to make notes in their books, I always felt it destroyed the work and the document is way too precious for this. But in transit I almost never have a notebook handy to capture my thoughts. You can put a person through college and give them a degree, that doesn't make them educated. "The mark of an educated mind is to be able to entertain a thought without agreeing with it." - Aristotle Personally, I think education is not a state but a process: The moment you stop learning, you stop being educated. The corollary is that you can become educated with any amount of knowledge, big or small.

People who can actually use the advice don't need it, and the people who think they need it are never going to use it. So in essence all advice is useless? You could fill a couple of books on this topic. The short of it is that marriage was something you just had to do and was for the purpose of creating progeny. Notably, this meant that adultery could only commited by the husband if he screwed around with an unmarried woman or a married woman, however slaves, prostitutes and other men were fair game. If the wife was cheating, it was her paterfamilia that was allowed to kill both her and her lover if the latter was a Roman citizen or only her lover…

As a side note, do we know how Marcus Aurelius handled women? Do we have any succulent quotes of him on the matter? I ask as I know he is highly regarded here. TRP on the matter. His wife cheated plenty on him, at least according to some Roman sources. Her husband however seemed to have loved and respected her. Make of it what you will. The apple can and often does fall very far from the tree. In my, admittedly limited, experience, the apple does not fall far from the tree. People that neglect their parents usually have parents that in turn neglected their parents. This applies equally to many other traits: People who were quiet, calm children that did not make their home a living hell, usually have equally calm children. Also, loyal parents usually have loyal children. All of which makes me suspicious of people who hate their …

Similar here. My possessions change as my personality changes. Say I was to learn playing the piano, I'd have one staying in my place. If I stop playing, the piano goes away too, even if I still can play. But I am not sure that this is a particularly good way to live, not showing to other people what you are capable of by showing off your possessions, as they can serve as an excellent conversation piece.

Nice compilation, thank you. Some points: Where can people in the EU and the US respectively get tested for Vitamin D deficiency? At their physicians? Or should they get some kind of test kit? A factor I have not seen mentioned is a sense of purpose in life. Religious people are happier than comparable populations with respect to close ties, health and social activity. I never quite understood why people completely forbid themselves this or that activity or this or that substance instead of regulating their psychological attitude in question. Going to the gym to lift and doing some cardio on the off days is going to improve physique, health and well being by almost any metric available. This has to be the most retarded reason for a change of policy I have read this year. While there is a very good case for reducing air conditioner use as it is extremely expensive and reducing room temperature below 20°C in high summer is just perverse, gender discrimination is just not one of those reasons. Also, dear ladies, exercise some, that will increase baseline heat production and temperature regulation. This goes for the fellows too, of course.

Therefore, bitchy, dominant women should also be attractive. I'm always annoyed when the strong, female lead is just a female actor playing a male's role. Shows an interesting principle which Western movies completely fail to show: Take care of yourself first, only then can you take care of people next to you. If you ignore this, you risk both people dying. It is the same thing on airplanes where they need to remind parents to first secure their air supply in case of emergency and only then take care of their children. Instead they show the hero trope, where it all works out.

One additional factor that comes into play: Social shaming. Yes, it happens for males too. If you are surrounded by other nice guys and the nice guy friends of hers, you will be shamed if you ever so slightly upset her or she is upset for virtually no reason and you do not immediately comfort her. "Sleeping around" is not something that ever comes "naturally"as a female - it is natural for one of two available strategies for men. That is not completely true. 1) Major factors we track at a high level are Age, Income, and Ethnicity. AF/BB definitely plays a role in advertising. If you see a ton of "Girl next door wants SEX NOW" clickbait ads as you surf the net, that means you have been targeted by the digital ad exchange networks as a BB. If you're seeing ads about the new Remington model 700 series, we have targeted you as a badass outdoorsman or hunter. This all happens programatically, and is the result of much testing. Damn straight. Create male spaces and avoid incorporating them or being too visible. This damn need to include women in everything is killing me.

Strangely, the more I read about psychology and philosophy and the more experienced I get, the more of a luddite I become. I ditched the typing notes on a phone and switched to a physical notebook. I stopped all email notifications on my phone and quite probably will stop the message notifications too. Calendar still seems like a useful option and music is just nice. Technology is not the answer. We basically solved all problems on the individual level in terms of material wealth but we are stil…

This sounds like the kind of physician I'd want to visit. I think everyone should have a physician as part of his medical support commitee to easily find out what to do in terms of exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.

Anecdotally, I only hear such unrealistic displays of positivity from people who are miserable. That is so right, I made that observation before. It is almost as if those people cling to the belief "if I say it often enough, it will be true." Would explain why I'm so weirded out by people worhipping their family in these terms.

Of course I have. For a time there was a dude around in a full formal dinner suit. I also have met the type that doesn't give a shit how he dresses and thinks that people who dress well don't have anything to show for it, which also gives an off vibe. Don't tell me you haven't met the type.

I hate those kinds of workplaces. Looking down on someone because he dresses well is just as bad as looking down on someone who does not dress well. Anyhow, I like to dress preppy and well.

Professions like voice instructors amaze me. You describe your problem, they are like "you restrict half your body you dumb fuck", show you how to position yourself correctly and the problem is solved. Might be interesting to make a grocery list of professionals to visit with high impact to cost ratio. Sure, you don't need the extensive knowledge of a physical therapist but in a one hour consultation they can point out all extreme flaws. Similarly, I read that women should all visit a makeup art…

Thank you for your answer. Reading through biographies of great scientists, philosophers, artists, a disproportionate amount came from well off parents that have provided their offspring with the gift of not having to worry about financial security. However in modernity quite a sizeable population looks down upon this kind of thing - dare I say it is financial alpha versus beta? Reading your motivation and situation inspires me and gives me some more motivation to set up something like a trust f…

Can you talk some more about what your intentions are with the trust fund? I am a subscriber to /r/financialindependence where the topic of inheritance came up with mixed responses. Personally, I'd like to leave my descendants the possibility but not the incentive not to work, that is they should never starve for not working or be dependent on the state, but they shouldn't live a great life on grandpas money either.

Social psychology for sure. There has been a nice study showing that pretty much all scientists there have a massive bias to the left and discrimate against views that do not fit their narrative. Evolutionary psychology however is very red pill, see the studies that get regularly cited around here.

“True” Friendship An aside, I was leafing through "Psychology and Contemporary Life - Human adjustment" to the topic of "close relationships" where it bluntly stated that close, same-gender, non-sexual relationships (aka close friendships) are virtually unresearched. Considering how important male friendship and comraderie is, this is shameful. If anyone can point me to research literature regarding friendship as described above, feel free to do so.

Do you have a good source on this? From what I remember reading is that you gain much lengths, little girth and if you overdo the whole thing it weakens the erection. Though I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Single men who have not had relationship experience have lower testosterone levels than single men with experience. It is suggested that these single men with prior experience are in a more competitive state than their non-experienced counterparts. Cause and effect? Men with lower testosterone are less likely to be in a relationship or to have sexual experience. Absence of sexual stimuli is a plausible cause for depressed testosterone. Together this would be a classical vicious circle, the first…

There is the story of the wife, also told on Reddit, getting very horny while she is pregnant. From the game theory point of view this makes perfect sense: Arousal from the gene-provider until the genes are provided with following signaling to extract the ressources from a male that will willingly spend on what he believes to be his progeny. Also explains perfectly why pregnant women want to hang out with and are attracted to the classical beta male. Consider that the pill simulates a pregnancy …

Good to read that not everyone here wants to turn their back on civilisation. I want to establish a long-lasting line. They will look upon my picture and contemplate if I'd be proud of their life decisions. That is the kind of man I aspire to be.

Just remember that 1) taking estrogen as a (cis)male would have similar mind-blowing results and 2) women aren't worst or better than men...just different. Medically speaking, how long-lasting and how reversible are the effects of estrogen? If it relatively safe to take the substance, it would be a very interesting experiment to take a shot of estrogen as a male, to get a different point of view.

This is a fantastic point. I actually remember reading about a similar idea to take established business models from the developed world and applying them in the developing markets. The author gave the explicit example of buying tickets online which is common place in North America but was virtually impossible in South America. Someone simply copied the concept with little risk as the model was already established in a highly competitive environment and made off like a bandit. To /u/JR550, I'm s…

This is the kind of content /r/theredpill needs, the RP in the extended sense. Actually it is directly applicable to the more usual topics on TRP since power is one of the most attractive attributes in a man and thus one of the biggest components in his SMV. One thing stuck out: Diversify your sources of power. Money, political capital, social influence, whatever. It's fungible -- to some extent, you can trade one for the other. There are different forms of power, defined as the ability to make …

Alternatively pull out to reduce probability of pregnancy, tough this is not as effective and doesn't help against STDs. Combination with vasalgel/RISUG seems redundant though it is not available at this time. As to the efficacy, from the same page: The scientists heading up the research, Dr. Bambang Projogo and Dr. Dyan Pramesti, reported that phase two studies included 120 couples (80 given Gendarussa and 40 given placebo) for 108 days with no pregnancies. Additional studies were recently concluded in 350 couples (186 taking the capsule and 164 taking placebo) for 30 days with a reported success rate similar to that of oral contraceptives used by women. Scientists involved in the research report that the active ingredient in Gendarussa disrupts an enzyme in the sperm head, which weakens the ability of the sperm to penetrate the ovum. The effect is short term and reversible – having no effect on male hormones. The scientists even report increased libido in some patients. According to this.
