Interesting! Do you think hypergamy might be more common in your area than in the North.

Are these not the desperate, below average ones seeking male attention? If that’s your game, that’s great! I just want to qualify, if applicable, since that’s what I’ve seen.

I agree with that. I just think strategic men will optimize for conserving power (wealth) to a greater extent than optimizing for banging young women. Driven strategic men know that all of the wealthy/ high potential pretty women marry early, it logical to commit early rather than to delay so that you can bang unwealthy bombshells for longer and have less money in the long run. Doing the latter will put you at the bottom of your class in the long run. Controlling those urges is more lucrative, b…

In other words, there are people who are dating out of desperation and their are people who are optimizing for marriage (even if they are fucking around). The former are lazy and don’t understand power. The latter will only compromise class status where beauty is able to fill the gap, but to do so, the class gap must be small.

I think we agree. The former is not hypergamy, though

I guess dating below ones standard so that their partner can’t leave feels lazy to me. Lazy men should date down because there is nothing attractive about low effort. Especially if both want a single-income household—laziness is not a good standard to set for children. If anything, a household in which both parents have the credentials to work at any time is much more resilient to the troughs in motivation for either parent, and a driven man should seek that out. I also think it does not benefit…

To clarify, I wasn’t saying desperate as an insult to men. I think you’ll find people in poverty if both genders who will date someone they are entirely attracted to in order to escape their circumstances (you find this a lot with older female tourists and young impoverished local men while traveling). It’s not bad, it’s just a means to an end. To your point, I think you will always find women like the ones you mentioned, but I also think pride is a human characteristic. You will find both men a…

I think this goes back to a point I made in another comment—men aren’t out chasing hard working women, but I do think they would choose a woman with generational wealth or status over one without it if all else was equal.

I know I’m going to get demolished for this, but, anecdotally, I’d argue that most women feel that dating rich is an option above average women only. And many above average women who try to marry rich end up with a man who is older, and therefore has accumulated comparatively more resources, but still of her class. Men who actually have more wealth compared to their age group, are not accessible to these women, and she has in fact dated at her level at best and below her at worst. Those older me…

I think so could agree with this: “Women have more access to hypergamy than men.” There are more rich men than rich women and men are the ones who initiate. Women will pick the best of their prospects and men will only shoot for the women they think they can get. That alone would lead to more women marrying up than men, even if both are hypergamous. My only point is that hypergamy is not the nature of only women. I think that is is human nature to seek more resources and in cases when men lack r…

For example, I recently travel to impoverished country and it was incredible common to see young handsome men dating old European or American women visitors. One can only assume that is for access to her resources.

Well is this not an issue with the population, then? I know we have a crisis in the US of boys underperforming compared to girls in school (an I'm open to the idea that this is a societal issue). If most women want to date someone better than them, then is the problem that women are also succeeding too much for this to be realistic? Shouldn't this kind of behaviour advance the society as a whole. Also is this saying that middle class women only want to date rich men? Are middle class men not als…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
