Something that helped me at the beginning (emphasis on "beginning!") stages of revamping my diet was focusing on adding in healthy foods, rather than taking out bad ones. I would set veggie quotas for myself, for example, and make sure to get enough water/green tea. Once I developed a taste for these healthy foods, it was much easier to let go of the breads and cookies etc.

The good: 1. My in-progress evaluation for the first college class I'm teaching went well. 2. Good meeting with my advisor on my thesis 3. On track to reach my financial goals for 2016 4. Planned a party for this week. Haven't hosted anything since my break-up... excited to get the ball rolling again! The bad 1. Didn't increase my SMV at all this week... and my vision is, at my age (late 20s), if you're not actively improving it, it's going down :) 2. Generally depressed my SMV/MMV/ was a bum th…

You're welcome. I just search 'yin yoga' on Youtube; I love this one.

Yin yoga. Yin yoga is a slower, more passive form of yoga where you hold poses for 2-20 minutes. It opens you up very deeply and is great for combatting neuroticism, stress, and anxiety. Taking my journal to my favorite coffee shop, getting a leisurely cup of coffee, and writing in my journal/people watching Instituting device-free Saturdays Replacing my mid-afternoon coffee with green tea Drinking warm lemon water first thing when I wake up Visiting art museums or galleries Watching old films -…

Good: * I'm teaching my first college class and it's going really well. I love my students, the vibe in the classroom is warm, and teaching is bringing out a nurturing, more grown-up and self-confident version of myself * Tried 3 new recipes since Friday (all yummy!), and made cookies for the department (made these and they got rave reviews!) The bad and ugly: * Haven't exercised in two weeks. Need to aim for 3x a week! * I've been drinking more than usual. Last night I realized that twice in th…

In "monk mode" after a recent breakup: The good: Joined a gym and have been going religiously, am ramping up an ab-skincare regime and already seeing results, tried new recipes, figured out a budget that will have me student-debt-free and roth-ira-maxed-out by April. The bad: Haven't gotten ~any~ graduate work done! Anxiety dream last night. Need to get my booty in gear. The ugly: I've noticed recently that with people I know well, I have a little condescending voice that pops up if they're tell…

It sounds like you have two goals: Gaining makeup literacy and 2. Feeling comfortable in your own (makeup-enhanced) skin. The way I see it, working on goal #1 will help you achieve goal #2. I'm in my late 20s, and didn't start wearing "real makeup" til after my last birthday. This is what was helpful for me: 1. Youtube tutorials 2. Beauty boxes like Ipsy (they introduced me to products I wouldn't have tried otherwise, and all in the privacy of my own home!) 3. Allure magazine 4. Changing my mind…

Three weeks ago I was broken up with by the man I thought I was going to marry... so it's been a difficult month! The positive: 1. Maintaining a good attitude. I'm heartbroken, but I've been careful not to fall into a bottomless pit of depression, and I'm feeling optimistic about the future. I've also been good about letting my emotions out in a healthy way, which can be hard for me. 2. Cooked for my family and am working on being closer with my sister/parents. The not-so-good: 1. I'm a graduate…

hello ladies! I literally registered to make a comment on this thread -- bc is something I'm very passionate about. Condoms + fertility awareness/pullout method is what works for me. I tried a couple versions of pills and they made me crazy, bloated, and totally uninterested in sex. Worryingly and more importantly, bc pills may impact mate selection and alter women's brains (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/09/birth-control-brain_n_7032578.html). Personally, I love to ovulate, and I love fe…
