I'm the one helping by changing things in the world of Domestic Violence, I came here to ask other men who are concerned with addressing equality issues with men and you all have done nothing but put up walls, and hurl insults. Thank you for your input. You're right in that the original intent was to help women from men. This was back in the 80's when Feminism was more radical. It's actually been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Not only do I love the work, but the upper management is open minded, loving, and it's like one very large family of sisters, and 1 brother :) It's been a slow start integrating men into the organization though. We've been considering changing the name or the organization that doesn't seem so polarizing toward men.

Women Helping Battered Women is the name of the Organization, its based out of Burlington, VT. www.whbw.org You can see most of the information on the site, but just in the last year we've started changing our programs to meet the needs of men. We offer Legal Advocacy, Economic Advocacy, and the program that I work in is the Shelter and I also work the 24 hour hotline and make arrangements to hide men and women in hotel rooms to keep them safe from their batterers.

Because places like Planned Parenthood don't tell women about the horrifying experience of the procedure, and the toll it will take on their psyche. I was referring specifically to outrageous claims that men are being prostitutes in sperm banks, when the real stuff we should be talking about is how men can have an equal say in the abortion issue.
