I like this advice. Honest and heartfelt is usually the way to go. It can be really hard as a parent to see your child make choices that directly contradict your own values. But if ultimately some of her greatest values in life are freedom of choice and lifting up fellow women, then that combined with her love for you can go a long way to helping you two find a peaceful relationship.

2 years to get your BSN isn’t that long! Generally those programs are pretty tough to get through successfully when you have small kids. They can require unusual clinical hours (I was required to work night shift during my senior practicum, and still go to day classes), and you might need a lot of study hours each week. Even if you put aside what you want/value in life, and looked at this from a completely financial perspective, many families find that it makes more sense to have one person stay home, especially in lower to middle class families. It’s a lot harder for people to say you just want male attention when you start the conversation with objective information. Give them factual statistics, and your own observations of what has happened to men and boys in your life, and people are less likely to ignore what you have to say.
