When I left I was around 160 lbs and she was 196. I’ve dropped a few since then and she’s probably gained a few

That is a good question and I wrestled with it for a long time. She is really great in a lot of ways and we had a connection that I think I am unlikely to find again. But I'm not satisfied with how she looks naked, she's 40+ lbs bigger than me, I'm uncomfortable with her in public, don't feel I can bring her around friends and family. I just feel too young to commit my peak years to someone with such a big flaw.

Thank you for the kind words and detailed advice. It's a tough situation but you and the other guys have helped a lot today. I feel I have the tools to get through it, enjoy the last couple years of my 20's, and have my 30's be the best decade of my life.

I'm working on this. My buddy invited me out for a bbq the other day. It was mostly couples and all the women were attractive. I never would have invited my ex to something like that due to embarrassment but it was a wakeup call for sure.

I know. Kinda makes me feel like an asshole tbh.

So I didn't read this far in and didn't realize you actually fucking moved in. Why? I had not gotten laid in 6 months since we were long distance. Also I was genuinely curious whether we could make it work living together, though we both had serious doubts about it and I knew it'd be a struggle at first. I thought it was worth a shot after 8 years. And I just missed her a lot. But shacking up together during COVID isolation was tough, and I was dissatisfied with her lifestyle and how much weight…

Fantastic analogy. And you’re right about the compliance vs. dread. If she had sufficient dread of losing me she would have lost the weight a long time ago instead of trying to change my mind for many months when I finally brought it up

I definitely have scarcity mindset. Life without her is scary because we talked all day every day for 8 years and now I’m alone. We still talked for several weeks after the breakup but we are now doing no contact. I’m objectively doing well. Thriving career, nice new apartment, dress well, decent looking. But the low self esteem persists. I’ll have to just focus on my mission of self improvement

Thanks for the perspective. Onwards and upwards. As you say, almost anything would be an upgrade. And maybe I could have been banging attractive women the whole time. I have no idea

I haven’t been able to go to the gym since early 2020 due to Covid. Before that I’d been lifting on and off for 4 years. Currently 5’8, 155 lbs, lean, visible abs. Slowly bulking to at least 175, working out at home and will be back in the gym asap. Re: approaches, I’m ashamed to say I’ve never done it. I have extreme anxiety about it that I’ll have to overcome. And yes, I’m going to be a very happy man once I start getting normal sized girls.

I know, bro. 60 lbs lost is a lot but when you’re a woman starting from 259 it’s not as impressive. And it was pretty much all from dieting, no exercise really

Thank you. Hang in there, bro. We’ve finally gone no contact in the last couple of weeks and I am trying to steer clear of her on social media as well.

Thanks man. I appreciate the advice. I have lifted on and off over the years and I enjoy it. I do want to start martial arts when they’re back open. I play sports too and that will help. Gyms are still closed here but I’m doing at home workouts every day and I will make an effort to talk to everyone, men and women.

Exactly. She's even just joined a gym and solemnly pledged to lose the extra weight in a desperate attempt to keep me around.

Fair point, I know the theory is that sluts don't change. But she was already changing by the time I met her. Ditched her old friends because she was heading down a different path. And I went from a kid to a good-looking, ambitious and successful man, so she worships me and doesn't feel she could do better. I'm not ready to settle down, but 4 years is a long time and she's been awesome throughout. Oh well.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply, I was hoping a fellow RP'er had experienced something similar. You've given some context to the thoughts that have been floating around in my head. You're spot on regarding the need for abundance mentality and getting over the resentment. I think I COULD be happy if I stayed, but I'm not sure I'd ever feel truly fulfilled. I'm just feeling the urge to push forward in life and experience new things. It'll be difficult to do that within the confines of the rela…
