I agree with what you are saying, but you cannot change people. There will always be guys trying to get your girl and they will succeed as long as you let them. What's more practical is learning to deal with such guys.

That's a very good advice in general. However, I think that you can still tease her quirky features in a positive way. If she's short, then how about calling her petite, cute.. ? If she's curvy, then how about assuming she's from Brazil?

Totally agree with you! I first heard about this concept from a book called "Elite Minds: How Winners Think Differently to Create a Competitive Edge and Maximize Success". As you said, by expecting to win your preparation becomes super intense and detailed. However, if you don't expect to win, then it doesn't matter how into you a particular girl may be. You'll almost certainly find a way to fuck it up in order to fulfill your initial expectations. ​
