I meant I disagree with the premise that women only survive off of the hard work of men. As in, i hadn't read that and didnt realize the post wasn't directed at me.

Ill be honest I didnt read the first paragraph on this post and I disagree with it. Though I do think a lot of work that props our society up is thoroughly unappreciated by everyday people, and holds zero bearing in the dating market.

I work in contracts administration for an engineering firm, and I also do some of their graphic design. It's work that tickles my need for something to hyperfixate on, but i find that talking about it really bores people, or its hard to explain. My work is lore-heavy (highly technical). I count my blessings but I wish I had a simpler job so that I wouldnt have to go on this tirade when I meet new people.

Imo yes, like establish friendly conversation first but be upfront with some minor flirting so that you know if it goes anywhere or not. It shouldnt be some huge confession, but testing the waters. If its not reciprocal then you move on, and maybe you stay friends while staying open to other prospects. Know your worth and never waste your time on one-sided affection.

Yeah that's probably because something is making the guy unattractive and no amount of mental gymnastics, therapy or facial reconstructive surgeries will push that friendship into a relationship. That's the reality of most friendships, not sure why this is surprising.

Im not afraid per se but Ive stopped approaching because nothing meaningful comes of it. I have decent social skills and ive held conversations with women when the opportunity arises, but the "cold approach" is just so mentally draining to do on repeat as im introverted and I dont want to have to watch my body language and play up the extroverted entertainer facade all the time. I also don't really like loud environments and I dont have the voice where I can project over nightclub music so it ju…

I mean this is sort of true. Im not particularly thirsty for sex, but ive put in a lot of time and effort to become an accomplished person, and id like to share my ambitions with someone during my life. Starting a family is something I want as well. It just gets frustrating when there's no correlation between the effort of success and I have to fight the urge of desperation where you lower your standards and end up with someone who youre either not compatible with or just takes advantage of you.…

True! Doubly true if youre neurodivergent. Imo, familiarity is king to developing attraction. This comes much easier for neurotypicals since theyre able to break that barrier of 'unknownness' with much less effort. Talking to strangers is just another way of meeting new people, but if youre just throwing yourself at any person in your peripheral vision then you'll A) spread yourself super thin and B) not create any meaningful connections. Either way, consistent friends and potential partners who…

Like someone below said, ER and company had internalized resentment long before lashing out at women and killing them. If you dont properly deal with unhealthy thoughts they fester and slowly manifest in your actions. Imagine you do blame women or whatnot and you finally do end up in a relationship. Do you continue to hold these beliefs or do you just expect resentment to melt away as if your thoughts never existed to begin with? People do pick up on subconscious behaviors, and it does handicap …

What about the reverse? I find that i have an easier time befriending women than men. I have some male friends that I hang out with but much less frequently.

Probably best comment in this thread. Being direct and asking is 9/10 times the best scenario. Playing games for other people's possible attraction is at best anxiety-inducing and at worst a waste of time. Life is too short to not just ask if they like you back point blank.

Men should try harder, irregardless of their dating prospects. Thats what being a man is. If youre not trying to be the best of the best, then why would anyone want to date you let alone have a family with you? We're never going to get anywhere asking others to change their standards, all you can do is just keep changing yourself until it's impossible to not be a catch.

I think we have to make an effort to improve ourselves and to change our trajectory. Thats the beauty of life. But at what would you say it stops? Because if its really fully in your hands, then every incel and looksmaxxer is fully justified in facial reconstructive surgeries. There has to be a point where we look at ourselves and say there must be some innate characteristics that are undesirable to others like introversion or a weird hobby, but they cant just be erased.

I know its fatalistic to some extent, but theres a degree to which agency becomes unhealthy no? The most radical example being LL. Ive tried to force my personality to change but theres parts which I think are just stuck. It sounds like youve had better luck and I really dont want to disparage anyone. I guess im just worried that theres this apex of responsibility where a person must overhaul every aspect of their personality in order to be likable. I see people like clavicular and I think that …

Yeah I dont want that at all, I think it would just ruin it for everyone and there wouldn't be any wanting or desire involved. Nobody is entitled to a relationship, I sincerely dont mean to say that between the lines or anything. What i AM saying is that it should be acceptable to chalk up failure in dating to simply, bad luck. Rolling a shitty hand in any multitude of scenarios because it happens. Perfectly capable people lose sometimes and it is okay. Im also saying that behind the maximal amo…

Have you ever been in a relationship with a felon, or a woman whose parents beat her? Barring the fact that your upbringing impacts your appearance, eventually the looks fade away and it boils down to compatibilities in lifestyle. Eventually you get sick of the things she talks about over and over again. Why do you think people judge based on 'vibes' and 'chemistry'? This is just the amalgamation of behaviors, pattern recognition, physical attraction, etc. People have been self sorting for survi…

You don't want to take your girlfriend to a wedding of your socioeconomic circle and she sticks out like a sore thumb as soon as she opens her mouth. I guess what im interested in is the "why" here. Because I think this can apply to men and women in all sorts of social circles. More importantly, can a person, through sheer willpower change the perception that any person has of them? I think past a certain point, some traits are so ingrained in a person that it becomes impossible for them to not …

If it is unfair, then it is does matter because people do care about things that are out of our control. Neurodivergence, height, deeply ingrained behaviors etc. Things that we don't have control over leave impressions on other people all the time, and it leads to inclusion or exclusion from others. You can give two similar looking people the exact same advice, the same instructions in the same dating pool and they will have wildly different results based on behaviors that they dont consciously …

I dont think that your rebuttal of class matches up with reality, maybe so for someone who makes a concerted effort to seek out easy lays in third world countries. But for the average person? Their prospects alone are limited to what circles they get into, and most people form their social circles in early to late childhood, with college being the latest. Theres a reason that 'towny bars' are a thing, and its more often than not people who never left their hometown, who form a social circles tha…

Would you reject a guy as a prospect solely on family? Curious as i come from a divorced background, and only keep ties with one family member. I know everyone is different but wondering if this is actually a turnoff for some, considering it is a factor most have little to no control over.

Lol im surprised I even got upvotes on this, i think if you take it wigh a grain of salf and youre not whispering psycho shit into a girls ear there might be something to it
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/26 01:34 PM

Ive never thought about this. Im pretty insecure about my ability to flirt and my conversational skills, so that might help.

Guys, you need to do a cost-benefit analysis. Why would a person put up with Charlie Sheen's flaws without the talent and/or money he has? But his arrogance isn't a flaw, its his character. Theres a reason he is the way he is on two and a half men. Do you think he would do nearly as well if he was a quiet respectful guy? Also, can I ask how you would define masculinity? We might be defining it differently.

I dont think you're responding in good faith. Men and women clearly express themselves differently in social contexts, and the expectations are still clearly different enough that we can differentiate the two. We dont live in some vacuum of history where these traits dont still ring for both men and women. First of all, women have all of those way more than men do. Im well aware, because men are socialized differently, where status and recognition is achieved through their occupation, which is b…

Im sorry but this is just wrong. There are plenty of aspects of masculinity that are downstream from the gender role that are very much selected for in dating. Sure, its easy to think of some Stetson man as the masculine gender role, but what about decisiveness, domineering, extroversion, leadership, strong social networks, social skills, neurotypicality, physical strength? These are give or takes for a woman looking to date, but its severely limiting for a man if he doesn't exhibit these traits…
