What the actual fuck?!?! There’s a big difference between a spa day and taking a weeks long solo vacation to the other side of the world with random people you’ve never met in person.

Yes, in the divorce agreement you can set it up so that alimony ends if she starts living with another romantic partner. Doesn’t even have to be married.

Congrats OP, your wife was toxic as hell!! Updateme!

Yup, exactly. It possible this new person who went out of his way to sleep with married will step up and take care of the ex and her kid, but highly unlikely.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Her affair partner got her pregnant, which is why she miraculously got pregnant as soon as she got off birth control.

In hook ups, women have more leverage and power, so they can the option to become more choosy. However, in a real relationship, men tend to have more leverage and power.

Exactly. A less than attractive woman can go to a bar and say “who wants to sleep with me” and a bunch of men will go with her. An attractive man does the same thing and it won’t end nearly as well for him. They actually filmed a social experiment about this years ago that proves this point.

OP should do the first part of what you said (get a lawyer) and then follow the lawyers instructions word for word.

She was. She did go back to work during the separation and was about to start working again but we still had about $100k difference in salary.

You should not have to pay $900. I made about double what you made and had 2 preteens and I paid just a little over $700.

Yeah, there’s a close to 100% chance you wife is cheating, especially the way she is talking. Theres also a strong chance that she’ll come crawling back once the affair fizzles out. When she does, DO NOT TAKE HER BACK!

I seem to recall he might have also converted the cash to gold. I’m going to see if i can find the post, it was from years ago.

I had read a post like this not too long ago. In that post the husband developed a “gambling habit” and was “losing” a ton of money to gambling. When he confessed to wife, she immediately asked for a divorce. The plot twist was there was no gambling problem, he was stashing the money away.

It’s almost tempting to let him know he’s dating a cheater, so he knows what he’s getting himself into.

I opened up a bank account for my 18 year here in the USA. You don’t need a passport or even a SS card, we did it with only a drivers license.

This is what I was thinking. I actually have mine 50/50 and even now as teenagers I rarely see my GF when I have the kids. When they were younger, I never dated on my weeks.

I’ve been on coffee dates with women and I’ve had women offer coffee date as a suggestion for a date. But with that said, if someone thinks they are too good for a coffee date, that’s a huge red flag. Unless they offer a bar date instead, that could be a green flag or at least a fun red flag.

Do not respond to wife’s attorney. Send all these request to your attorney and then follow the advice your attorney gives you.

I’ve found that when people use the word narcissist or gaslight, it often simply means people I don’t agree with. I also had a back and forth where there was a post about a “male slut” who slept around with a ton of women. Someone called him an “incel” and I pointed out that he would kind of be the opposite of an involuntary celibate. I was not defending the guy, just pointing out the term they were using was wrong. I was then called a gaslighter 🤣🤣🤣

Agreed! I also don’t understand child support if they split the kids 50/50. I’m pretty sure the divorce was in the state of Maryland, but I don’t know the divorce laws there. I also wonder if the fact they dated for 8 years before marriage and they had their oldest before marriage factored in.

And yes, they did have the first baby while they were engaged by not yet married.

My buddy who was married for 4 years and 2 kids (5M and 3M) got taken to the cleaners. She got the house (he does get a higher percentage of money from their joint checking and savings account) which has super low mortgage, $1200 child support, $4500 alimony, and a portion of his 401k (not sure how much though). I think it’s 50/50 joint custody, but not positive. She also got to keep her $20k engagement ring and $12k wedding ring (he got to keep is wedding band, but he paid for all three items) …

How old are the kids. If they are younger than teens, the logistics are super challanging.
/r/Divorce_Men07/05/24 12:26 AM

When the kids were younger I would still help them get stuff for their mom on Mother’s Day. It wasn’t to reward or gift their mom, it was for the kids so that wouldn’t feel bad for not getting their mom something for Mother’s Day.

I recommend holding off until the divorce is done, or at least until you are out of the house. It just makes the divorce easier. When I got separated and divorced, I didn’t start dating until I was out of the house and we had the co-parenting figured out. So in my spare time I hit the gym and got back into BJJ. About 6-8 months after I moved out, I felt much better physically and mentally and felt in a much better place to date.

Best answer is to ask a lawyer. So aside from asking your lawyer, I would meet with the local police and tell them the situation and ask if they think you will need support from them and if they can provide support. Ask them to document this request so that if it goes sideways, they have a record of you asking for this help. When you show up, bring a friend to record the entire move out so that if it does go sideways, you have video evidence of what happened. And seriously, ask your lawyer too. …

You should go on some amazing vacations to really fun places and post on social media. Maybe even text her a picture of you at an amazing place and say something like “the divorce was rough but trying to live my best life now … hope all is well with you”, but never actually reply to anything she writes back. Do this once every few months 🤣🤣

Stay separated for awhile to let any bitterness die down. Hope she finds a new guy to make her happy and then the divorce agreement is going to be so much easier.

How the fuck can you consider being late to the wedding if you are in the wedding party?!?! “Um pastor, can we wait an hour. My bridesmaid Becky just jumped out of the shower. Everyone, just hang out in the chapel for an hour. I know the reception is supposed to be in 45 minutes, but it’s just Becky being Becky”. Wtf?!?!
/r/Divorce_Men19/12/23 03:42 AM

Not so much reverse psychology, but sometimes the wife uses the “let’s separate” as a way to control their husband and the relationship. If you call them out on it, you can see if it’s a bluff or if it’s for real and then you the husband can decide if you try to work it out or if it’s better to move on. But it allows you to see what they really want and then decide what to do from there.

I actually agree with most of what you just said. Once it’s over, I would not take them back. Time to move on.

Divorce is a great option as well. I’m saying take control of the situation and don’t be a doormat.

In case you didn’t see my comment, I’m going to give you the same advice: I would play the Uno reverse card here. Say something like, “ok, I didn’t want to be the bad guy, but I think we should divorce”. The moment you say that, she’ll likely come crawling back. Good luck man, stay strong!
