Its a representative republic. Not a democratic republic. No pedantry involved. The United States is, indeed, a republic, not a democracy. Accurately defined, a democracy is a form of government in which the people decide policy matters directly--through town hall meetings or by voting on ballot initiatives and referendums. A republic, on the other hand, is a system in which the people choose representatives who, in turn, make policy decisions on their behalf. The Framers of the Constitution wer…

I don't think "one-itis" is a bad thing though. There may be "plenty" that could be just as good or better, but what if that doesn't matter to a person? Sometimes "the one" is really flawed and has a lot of problems, and you can't solve them, but you just want to be there for them and care for them. It might result in you being alone but maybe its better to be alone and true to that love than to try to replace it by thinking that there are just "other fish in the sea"..

Lawful orders have nothing to do with probable cause. A police officer can order you to do something (assuming that order is lawful) even if you're not committing any sort of crime, or he doesn't suspect you of doing so. Probable cause only has to do with the arrest process, nothing more than that. To establish probable cause, police officers must be able to point to objective circumstances leading them to believe that a suspect committed a crime. A police officer can’t establish probable cause …

I know this goes against the popular consensus here, and I can't speak for anyone else, but I highly doubt they did not consent, nor do I believe that all minors cant consent. I certainly understood sex, pregnancy and the legal consequences when I was 14.

Not really. And I don't believe that is the law, just what the FBI considers them to be - that when limbs or body parts are used as weapons they are considered weapons. Most law enforcement agencies in the country follow certain standards set by the FBI on a variety of subjects.

Until we demand that cops are put on trial for any death that occurs in their custody unless it can be proven that the decedent a) had a weapon, and b) demonstrated hostile intent, this won't change. That's never going to happen because whether or not you are "armed" depends on your actions. The FBI considers hands, feet, knees, elbows, the head itself, all to be 'personal weapons.' People can and have been killed simply with one punch to the head and gone to prison over it.

A lawful order is an order which does not require violation of law, or violation of reasonable morals/ethics. Vice-versa, an order that requires violation of one of those three things is unlawful. Quite simple.

Whether he gave them reason to do anything isn't relevant. A lawful command has nothing to do with the reasons behind giving the command, but whether or not the command itself is lawful. Before you reply, I didn't yet read anything about this so I don't know the story, just replying in context to these comments in this thread.

All men are not "real men".. just because you have male genitals doesn't make you a man. Some "men" are merely boys in a man's body.

I'd hazard a guess that the amount of people who are friends for a long time and then have sex is about equal to those who just have sex right away and then become friends.

This is more likely a lesson on not to get drunk in public and hit people for no reason than it is about some sort of double standard. Also, maybe you should carry a gun. Regardless of what caused it, a bunch of people continuing to beat on someone when he's obviously not fighting back and stomping on their skull is lethal force.

As has been already stated, I like to go with a little chloroform. If I don't have that, I turn to the good ol' phenazepam.

When I go dancing, I am into the music and that is my only concern. Women tend to be turned off by guys who are dancing seemingly to attract women. Try focusing more on the music and letting it get 'into your body' and see where that gets you. More often than not they see you, think "hmm, he's REALLY into the music.. that's kind of sexy", and may try to talk to you off of the dance floor, or dance with you.

"No one listens to voicemails anymore".. lol. What world do you live in? Not the same one as me. Most of the communication I do is through phone calls, not texts. Texting is for exchanging small amounts of information. When I want to have a real conversation with someone, I call them. If you're calling women that are 'startled', don't answer, and only text you back afterwards to find out what you wanted, you need to re-evaluate the type of women you're trying to be with. Sure, texting is fine an…
