Haha you jerk don't patronize me because you can't write or make sense. Your TL;DR is what I said in the first place

You do realise you can get herpes even if you use a condom, right? And that most people who have herpes don't know they have it? You're an angry young man and you need to grow up. Shit happens, life is unfair.

Thanks. I don't mean to be a douche but in a different comment I explained why I thought it was important to be pedantic on this point...

Kind of is, because it demonstrates that Herpes isn't as scary as people seem to think it is. I don't like to be pedantic but misinformation and scare-mongering is a problem with the perception of herpes, and it's a distinction worth making

can we stop this now?

That's actually wrong. It is an STI, though most people don't seem to realise the difference.

That's not an STD either...

haha - nah good to hear an honest response, dude. annoys me when people think herpes is the same as AIDS. it sucks, sure, but it's not going to ruin your life

Stupid way of thinking about it. So women with herpes should not tell guys if they ever want to have sex again? (assuming they're not actively seeking out other people with herpes) Protip: if a woman tells you she has herpes, weigh up the risk and act accordingly. If it's just a hookup, forget about it. If you really want to be with her, reduce the risk however you can and go for it. It's not AIDS

I wouldn't say you're "fucked".. It's just a risk that will always be there and you have to learn to accept it. It's like pregnancy - that's one of the least pleasant surprises you can possibly receive, but if you're having sex, that will always be a risk.

Wow I had no idea that could happen. How terrible. As a woman, is the idea of having a C-section much worse than a "natural" birth? It doesn't mean that much to me as a guy...

There's no test against Herpes unless you have an outbreak at the time of the check-up EDIT: I'm wrong

Absolutely fantastic post. This reflects a lot of what I've heard about Herpes. People on the internet thinks it's really icky and terrible, but doctors and other experts realise that it's basically just a skin condition. As you're a lady though, I guess it's maybe more of a problem than for guys. Have you thought about how this would affect having children? Will you have a C-section?

Good. Important thing to know is that what you're going through isn't unique. Your story sounds so familiar to me, and I'm willing to bet that's the case for a lot of other guys. It's important to realise is that there's one of two ways out of this, and I'm really pleased for you that you've chosen the most productive way. Again, keep at it, good luck, and stay strong. Set lots of small, achievable goals and keep working towards them. Best of luck, bud

Largely agree with PUAlurker. Most important thing is to hide her on Facebook (don't delete, that makes it too easy and you might end up offending her). Then, never look at her profile. Avoid it at all costs. If you look at her profile you will get in a circle of depression. And if you can avoid looking at her profile, you can avoid contacting her. The other thing is: You don't need a friend (or a girlfriend, for that matter) on the other side of the world. Think about all the reasons why you wo…

FWIW, My advice would be, never press anyone to telling you anything unless you're already really close or it's for business or something. It's too intense. If someone I didn't know asked me what I'm passionate about I wouldn't give them a strong answer, even though I am passionate about a lot of things. I get the frustration, because the world is full of boring people. But you won't find interesting people by pressing them into telling you what they're passionate about. That kind of stuff will …

You have to stop thinking that hot girls are perfect or out of your league. Probably if you saw them without makeup and in sweatpants that would be pretty easy to do, but that only comes later. I would just recommend that every time you go to a bar, strike up a conversation with the hottest girl there. Pretty soon the practice will start to pay off, and you will realise that "hot girls" aren't really that hot - they all have little flaws (too tall, too short, tits too big, tits too small, bad co…

Fuck facebook. Facebook is bullshit. If you want to share these stories and artworks then find an old friend you really trust and share it with them, talk to them about it (platonic female friends are best for this function). If you put this stuff on Facebook it will just look like a public meltdown - it's not the answer. Sounds like you're doing okay with Pick-Up, just keep at it and eventually you'll meet someone you can share your time with. Just don't get too hung up on the "pretty" part. I'…
