The key word is, "many." There are occasional posts that are less about equality and more about anger towards women that needs venting, which also has its place, but that doesn't mean I always agree.

This isn't result relevant to this thread, but what you're describing isn't the scenario in Canada or any of the Western European countries where this is the case. What you're describing pretty much only happens in speeches made by Republican politicians.

And currently, yes. We already have socialized schooling. I'd also like socialized higher education and healthcare, which both work very well.

I'm awfully liberal to be considered an anything - right. I believe in socialism, universal healthcare, and basic income. I don't think that puts me on the right just because I also think evidence should be required for rape convictions, and want domestic violence shelters widely available to serve male victims, and support a complete overhaul of the child support system.

Anecdotally, parents do this in the US because they're more concerned with a younger, smaller boy being picked on than they are a younger, smaller girl.

If you are an employee of the State of Delaware (our state's largest employer), you don't even get that. There is absolutely zero paternity leave. Using sick leave even violates the policy as written, but the official non-policy is to look the other way when employees use sick time for paternity leave.

Just to add a little extra to all the great comments here, but why the hell is she watching a Kanye video anyway? I don't give a shit about Kanye, and I'm sure I wouldn't give a shit about his videos, but it doesn't ever come up. Never in the course of my everyday life do I randomly encounter a Kanye video. We're not talking about the entire history of time, and we're not talking about the entirety of the world--we're talking about you and I, here and now. I didn't say women face no problems; I said women in our culture (because I can safely guess you're not in sub-Saharan Africa anymore than I am) face no more gender-based oppression than do men. I'll address just a few of your points, because I'm on mobile and cannot see your response while I write mine, and because it's past my bedtime. You brin…

I am a woman, and will never call myself a feminist. I have yet to see a form of feminism--angry man-haters or friendly 'let's all get along'ers, that isn't based on the premise that women are still an oppressed minority. That simply isn't true. I have more advantages than my male counterparts. I wish it could be equal, but right now, if our culture is against anyone, it's not me.

I'm married to a domestic abuse survivor, who was denied all resources and support, and essentially told by multiple therapists that it was his fault. He has PTSD as a result of his first marriage. Add to that, I am so horrified by circumcision that I've lost friends over it, and this seems like a place for me.

And yet Bernie Sanders is not proposing to appoint himself czar of all abortions. He said to leave it between women and doctors, not ignore all medical ethics. There is no doctor who would perform an elective abortion in the last month of pregnancy, nor would the AMA or any hospital allow it.

By misrepresenting the material, they are damaging the brand. Would you not agree that this is a controversial subject matter which may turn some people away? Also, we're not arguing what should be; we're arguing what is covered by the law, and fair use law is much narrower than this.

I'm not sure it is. It's not a parody of the original artwork. It's not a critique of the original artwork. Is a theft and manipulation of a protected work for a political statement. The fact that is a political statement I very much agree with doesn't make it ok.

Child custody =/= physical custody only. One parent can have primary physical custody with both parents still have shared parental rights. Generally, a child is better having a place to call home, with plenty of time with both parents. It's parents who think that their parenting only counts if they keep their kid at their own house.

It can be dangerous to suggest as a good method for teenagers, who are not yet in control of their bodies. For an adult man, who is confident in his ability to know when he's going to orgasm and has the self-control to stop in time, it can work well.

How is birth control for women and condoms for men? Women don't need birth control in the absence of men. Only a man and woman together need birth control "to help them have sex," as you put it. Condoms are for everyone whose sex life involves a penis or anything shaped like a penis. Also, free condoms are everywhere. They're not prescription, so they're not really part of insurance. After the child is a couple years old, it's easy to say that either the mother or father could be the at-home parent. In the beginning, though, it's not equal, because men can't breastfeed. It's not equal. It can't be equal. All we can do is try to make it fair.

Oddly enough, yes. I just didn't want to jump I to the discussion about how entirely my fault this was. He just didn't get it. It felt like telling grandpa he wasn't supposed to hug me. I supported my unemployed (M) partner for more than a year, and had to beg him to let me do so, and he's the hottest man I've ever known. Under that logic, literally anything involving a man would be a men's rights issue. Are you arguing for a man's right to molest children without going to prison, or that specifically men are not properly monitored in prison for depression/suicide attempts (as opposed to women)? I still fail to see the men's rights issue here. He was imprisoned for molesting a child, so it must've been some nearly-legal teen who lured and tricked him? That would be reaching.

I can understand why you'd choose not to marry, though sad if it had to mean the end of the relationship. As a woman, marriage is appealing because of the legal protections that come with it, and the tax and insurance breaks, but moreso for the legitimacy it gives to a relationship: it was a way of clearly telling each other and everyone else that this wasn't a passing fling. Thank you. As I've alluded to in some of my other comment replies, I think the real problem (most of it, not all) is the incredible bias in CUSTODY decisions, not marriage. I don't get any magical powers from marrying, or divorcing. I get an automatic paycheck if I pop out a baby.

Maybe I should add that I live in (as many do) both a community property and a no-fault divorce state, meaning (1) what's ours is ours no matter what; no one gives a shit that all the money was mine, and (2) no one gives a shit why we got divorced, it didn't give me any sort of advantage legally in the divorce.
/r/MensRights13/02/11 04:31 PM

Wow, your wording doesn't sound biased at all. How is it that a married woman has no commitment or risk, and a married man is a bonded legal slave? When I was married, I put my husband through school, and he repeatedly slept with a 17 year old, with no real consequences, other than I kicked him out, so he had to (theoretically) support himself. I'm now in a wonderful relationship with a man who treats me well and appreciates me the way I love and appreciate him. I don't see how marriage (if we e…

Thank you for admitting that retraction may be the right move, but more importantly, PLEASE refrain in the future from ranting against something you haven't seen or heard for yourself--you can't make a valid argument against something unless you actually know what you're arguing against.

It had nothing to do with gay rights! She's fighting for the rights of little kids to wear silly clothes WITHOUT it in any way relating to gay rights or politics! Seriously, did you read it at all?

You obviously didn't read the original blog. Her son ASKED to dress as Daphne, and she LET him. The blog then goes on to discuss how ridiculous it is to suggest this makes her son gay, that she doesn't care if her son ends up gay or straight, but that right now, he's neither--HE'S FOUR. Take the two minutes to read before you start complaining about something that isn't even accurate.

The typical Valentine's Day mentality goes right along with the idea that a woman's wedding day is HER special day. It's OUR fucking day. You're a grown woman, not a princess.

Steak's not really his thing, he can have a blowjob anytime he wants (it's sad that there are people who think sex acts are "gifts" to be given out of obligation), and I'll ask for head when I want it and buy my own chocolate just fine.

My favorite way to spend V-Day has always been to cook a meal together. At this point, that's not an unusual occurrence for the SO and I, but it's still nice to make a point of doing something together.

I am a house manager at a group home for five teenage boys. All the staff at my house, including myself, are women. Of my agency's 8 group homes, two house females. Only women are allowed to work in those two homes, alone or otherwise, whereas either gender may work with males. I used to run the girls' house, and when I had to send an overnight aide home in the middle of the night, I had to wait two hours for a replacement, because our "floater" that night was male, and had to go relieve a femal…

No, you're freaking out. Maybe it will become a bald spot, but right now you're just being stupid.

I noticed this too. I'm female, and spent half the ep yelling, "Call the cops!"

What horrible, horrible people. This article makes me so sad. Foreskins are weird. My boyfriend doesn't have a foreskin, and his penis is beautiful. But there is nothing short of medical necessity that could ever compel me to slice off part of my future son's body, nor would I ever teach him that there was something wrong with part of his body. It'd be new to me, and different, and strange, and we'd figure it out, because it's part of his body.

My SO(m) has been unemployed for over a year, as was I(f) for a large portion of that time. I have now found work, gotten us a place to live together, and in the small ways he'll allow me, I support him, but unfortunately it kills him to take it. He feels awful for "not contributing" and in the meantime takes care of me and supports me and I would absolutely stay with him if he never worked again.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
