I'm old school in this regard and agree. Incels, incels happened. Then the boomerang effect of that changed the narrative so now dicks and false idols are put on a pedestal.

This is missing the point of it all. Its about building confidence in oneself. You absolutely can and will if you repeat and rise above previous performance and failure, you know, pushing through in moments of doubt or lack of confidence until you have enough experience to know enough to be confident, or perform well enough to have more confidence. You do this for you. The end result is that you gain something fulfilling for YOU! Then THAT passion and focus will be appealing to others. It isn't …

This isn’t what happens in functional relationships. In a true partnership there is communication and a give and take. What you are describing sounds like what one sees in sitcoms not real life.

It isn't broken at all. It has changed, sure, but you just need to adapt to it. Women are not these clearly defined markers of thought and desires. There is no perfect puzzled way to arrange your pieces. They aren't like this because they are human, you aren't like this either for the same reason. And for the record, women have always had more options and the notions you are referring to have always existed. Thankfully most people are decent and don't just look at other humans as a commodity.

I don’t know this society you are describing? What world is this? Do you really believe this is the predominant sentiment held in reality?

I think the difficulty here is that Stoicism is not a trait. Acting stoically is. Lower case stoic vs. Stoicism the philosophy. A result of the philosophy is that one will be more balanced out and level-headed, a.k.a. stoic as a result but the philosophy itself is a journey through Reasoning and Logic. All of which still accounts for impulses and emotions. Stoicism is about evaluating your judgements of the things that happen. Your emotions are tied to your experiences which is where our unique …

I think the key for men is simply shoot your shot and do your thing but don’t be salty about the result. Just keep it moving.

As a student of Stoicism who has delved far deeper than the internet average user, I 100% agree with this post. Well said.

Any post by a fellow male which generalizes women, for the most part, I instantly disagree with. Any post that is scathing, I absolutely disagree with. I don't think I see a lot of balanced male views on here. It would be nice to have some real, true discourse amongst the sexes so we can all learn and/or appreciate this adventure in better ways.

This perfectly describes my life and something I try and share with others. It is a good time for everyone involved. Also, I couldn't agree with your point on career woman or the openness and acceptance about casual sex more! It surprises me how different other's experience seems to be but what you've described is pretty much the real world as I know it to be.

So anecdotal vs anecdotal? Sure, let's go with that. You can take your "most men" fact and find someone else to have a logic deprived conversation with.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/05/23 06:19 PM
2

Yes, exactly. It is part of the mix that women find appealing but not the only or even most times the primary trait that they are attracted to. It’s more like a standard basic desire. Be a good man who isn’t an asshole and knows how to show respect. Reminds me of that old Chris Rock joke where people want credit for taking care their kids… umm you are supposed to take care of your kids! Same thing.. men are supposed to be decent and then the rest comes into play.

Yeah I’m not sure what to say other than the women I know friends, ex lovers, family, don’t give that vague level of nonsense advice. They are far more direct in what attraction is and means and how to balance that with being nice and sensitive.

The examples he gives check out. I've experienced some and witnessed others. It's just part of the game. These things can, do and will happen. You just have to accept it as one does that there will be rainy days. You still go out there and try and enjoy it all the best you can. That's life.

Yeah as a 47 year old, you are wrong. Picking up in public was always a thing. Where do you think the concept of cat-calling comes from? The classic scenario of construction workers whistling at women walking down the street was very common. Bookstores, bars, clubs, gas station, school, events, etc. All examples where I had seen the adults in my life, and then in my 20's/30's myself, approach women.

Well, in life you miss 100% of the shots you do not take. Enjoy that sideline. If things are meant to be, they will happen regardless of what you do (if you buy into fate and all of that) but life is so much more interesting when you make attempts, try, fail, learn and move forward. If you don't buy into fate, how can you even really know what you want if you live life within the limited confines of your own mind? Real experiences are needed to create a real determination of what one wants. This…

This entire post is anecdotal and subjective. Even this person doesn't know what they are saying with any sort of validity. That said, you raise an excellent point. A "bad" person is a moral classification and you cannot judge this based on aesthetics. The OP mentioned abuse which should outright be a dealbreaker. Why someone remains in that says far more about their own self-esteem and attachment style than some sort of broad common trait amongst women.

Isn’t this the modern standard? I’ve never seen this be a point of contention in any real life scenario.

My understanding of the friend zone is closer to B but what you added is vastly different than what I know it to be. The stringing along part is the part that throws it off. That's not being in the friendzone, that is being carpet and being used. Its not the same thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/23 03:50 PM

Can I ask for clarification? Is it implied that the friend zone is only in effect when she strings him along with the distinct goal of attention, gifts, etc? In your mind is this the sole reason for the friend zone?

Sure, but logic clearly would lead anyone to reason the possibility. This sun is like a cartoon. Everything is archetypes and generalizations. People are far more nuanced than this.

The generalizing on this sub... smh... ok so YOU don't think sex is exciting. Check. That's great for YOU! Many women LOVE sex and don't consider it boring.

Are you asking us to Change You View that it DOES happen that men can be used by women for sex? Shall I proceed to convince you also that air is something we breath and water is something we drink to live? I don't understand what you want changed? Yes. Women can, have and do use men for sex. Just as men do to them. Is this controversial or not understood? You do all understand that women are human right?

Ok so this is technically true but why does it sound like you hate women for it? What do you want? Is there some sort of calorie burn meter that you feel should even out? What do you want to do with this info?

These generalizations are always amusing. Who says any of this is ok? Who is building these arbitrary categories you are piling people into? I know of no empirical source that defines that these are true categorizations or that they are even the commonly held beliefs. The people you described and the behaviors in your examples are piece of crap behaviors and excuses and have and will be condemned when performed by either gender. Just because you arbitrarily see it as these broad generalizations …

Thanks for the perspective, I am 47 and active in OLD and find very similar success. The perspective today too easily embraces this concept of the external being the problem. Things like working on yourself both physically and mentally and genuinely learning how to connect with people will always be the way. In the end, what else do we really have? I think its because not everyone has this low a level of self esteem? By your logic, if you aren't some arbitrary level of appealing then you should just stay celibate and die? I think most people have more self-love than this.

That's an ad hominen logical fallacy. His flair doesn't detract from his argument that Tate said it himself. You are turning to attack the person now.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/23 06:10 PM
5

But isn't the issue with Tate that he deliberately holds a stance on how to treat women and how to be "alpha" or whatever? It's not that its just his habits or his lifestyle about fitness and fashion, career, etc. It's that he communicates and delivers his message directly in an offensive way to some? He embraces and communicates misogyny. So your comparison of your make-believe conversation is a false equivalency. The guy working at Target that you described was not described as being so obscen…

Yes. Well it wasn't necessarily that she was too nice as much as we were too similar. I was young (22) at the time and very inexperienced. We had a good relationship, really got along and everyone on paper clicked. But overall there was little excitement and little outside our natural comfort zones that pushed us to grow together. Again, I was young so I think with my current understanding, I would have communicated and tried more. But at the time, I just knew I wasn't that into it anymore and e…

This mindset is so weak. You have every right to be perused and sought after by women and for your own self esteem you should set a standard to only be with someone who genuinely finds you interesting. You are acting like winning a girl over should be a once and done achievement and that it implies some victory in life. That’s not attractive at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/23 12:37 PM

Isn’t it the implied obligation of both parties to keep each other engaged and fulfilled as companions? It isn’t one sided. A relationship takes work.

I enjoy discussions with people in good faith. You have attempted to move the goal posts and derailed any attempt at dialogue. Now you are taking a position that you have some authority. Because you asked a question, does not mean I need answer it to prove anything about myself nor does it dismiss my position. That type of false thinking won't lead to good results. You are welcome to your interpretations and I hope they serve you well.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 09:04 PM

A choice to NOT answer the question is different than the inability to. Just like you are you deciding to take whatever you wish from this outcome. Enjoy.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 08:32 PM

Nah, I won't be playing anymore. These skewed reductionist tactics won't get very far here. Enjoy your perspective, hope it serves you well.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 08:08 PM

Yes anyone can have the issue, does that mean that more people of one gender can't have the issue more than the other? This is what I was addressing. You first belittle the concern of generalizing and then follow that by implying that there could be a truth which you are not then backing up. You wanted us to "address the fucking topic." The topic which is a generalized and slanted statement. I tried by fixing the question and yet here we still are.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 07:51 PM
8

Right but it is anecdotal and not founded in fact to say that the propensity is women. Cite your sources and perhaps we can have a real conversation about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 06:33 PM
9

You can't address the topic with a faulty premise. What is it you feel needs to be addressed? Here let me fix the OPs original question and then provide an answer to help you feel satisfied: Why don't PEOPLE understand that PEOPLE have to work to have money? Answer: Because some people are uneducated, ignorant, or careless about money whether it is theirs's or another's. OR Some people are just selfish and don't think of others. Take your pick.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/23 05:24 PM

Does anyone need to justify it either way? Date what you feel. I sometimes think that people feel that wining an argument here translates into better dating results in the real world. You can learn a few things here but ultimately everyone and every situation is pretty unique.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/23 02:21 PM

I have genuinely loved every woman I’ve said that to and would have welcomed forever with each of them. In their times, they were my best friends, my companions, my favorite to tell a story to and hear 5 in return. You spend so much of your free time with this person, live with them, mourn and celebrate together. You better like them or you are in for a bad time.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/23 12:11 AM
2

Now you are minimizing it. Your post implies it is the majority. That this is the standard. My entire point is that it is unfair to generalize that way. So now are you saying that it is only some women? Do you feel this is what women as a majority do? That most women do not value the humanity in others?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/23 04:00 AM
1

The behavior and way you outlined how women value men certainly wasn't painting a model of decency. You are talking about people who dehumanize other's for their own gain. (Isn't this what not valuing someone as a human being is after all?)
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/23 03:41 AM
2

Well that's interesting because the reason I responded was because I AM a man whose experience HAS been different. How can anyone in good faith even think this about the vast majority of women? Don't you all have moms? (Good moms I hope?) Aunts, grandmothers, etc? Anyone lacking a penis who you think is a decent person in this world? If not, then you probably should accept your aren't a good reference due to some traumatic upbringing or something. After all, a healthy minded individual, with hea…

I’m quite attracted to a woman by her achievements in her career. It won’t drastically change my overall taste but I’d date a little outside my initial impression if I knew they had drive and ambition and the ability to get things done. That’s hot.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/23 07:37 PM

It’s one of the first questions I ask when dating and it definitely matters to me. I find it super appealing when they are strong in their careers and achieving their goals. Who wouldn’t want that in a partner?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/23 07:35 PM

Well your examples come from two different people so maybe it’s just that not all women are the same?

The burden of proof on these multiple slippery slopes is on you, man! How about you back up what you are saying with some citations? No, don't post a link to a A quote or A comment. A well supported argument should be able to back up these statements: - most guys in relationships are not valued for who they are - It's actually very rare to find a woman who values a man for who he is as a human being The reason this is important is because without pulling back objectively, you are not only suppor…

“Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.” Super flawed one at that. Anytime we generalize so broadly, your reasoning is in for a bad time.

Yes, women do approach and send drinks, etc. In casual situations its easy to misconstrue because we aren't used to it but it is better to err on the side of caution anyway in these things. At a bar/expected ground for such behavior, they will approach and do what men normally do if they are interested. Clearly not ALL of them but some definitely do.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/23 06:27 PM

Yes, I'm 47 and have dated quite a few. What you are saying is offensive, generalized and will only mislead you as you continue to think you know what you are talking about.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/23 05:04 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/23 02:13 PM

Any person who dehumanizes another this way should always be condemned, I agree. I just don’t think this example is root cause. We do need to look at behaviors of each side of the dating line.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/23 02:29 PM
13

So from this we gather that THIS woman had these standards. I don’t think it’s right to assume ALL women do. Also if a woman is open to sex at this time in her life I agree. But not everyone is in that state at all times in their lives. I do agree that in my experience women who are interested push for intimacy sooner rather than later but this black or white way you frame it is really damaging and unproductive.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/03/23 01:43 PM

This is an inflated projected assumption. It reeks of insecurity. People ask primarily because it’s a surface level question that will productively move the interaction along. This isn’t just women. I ask it all the time.

You bring up some great points! I'd only adapt it and say that one should never make finding a woman their point of fulfillment. It is a preferred indifferent (in Stoic parlance) and therefore should be respected as a "great thing if it happens but I'm ok if it doesn't." Things like one's career, health, safety, advancement through Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, etc. should always outrank one's neediness and co-dependency. That said, the pursuit of women, or the openness to it, can be done in a wa…

Considering I'm still dating today, unfortunately, I do understand this. I assure you, I get it and I know that taller guys have it easier. So do rich guys and famous guys and more genetically gifted guys, etc. So what are we to do? Give up? Nah. These are just excuses. There are plenty of women out there that have a whole variety of tastes. There is only one way to overcome these things (the one's that are out of our control at least.), just stop whining and try. IMO, life is more unknown yet less complicated at that time (our 20s) for everyone (I understand there are outlying experiences.) We are all kinda looking for someone to accompanying us on this journey while most are trying to figure out how to be adults. Everyone is much hornier or at least prioritizes the need to fulfill these impulses much higher. No kids, yet, for the most part. Far less jaded mindsets. From DD's Double Your Dating, page 14: The First Shift In Thinking So let’s start off with this shift in thinking: Think about what the woman who you’re interested in needs and wants and don’t assume that these are the same things that YOU need and want. And don’t assume that what women want is going to make any sense at all to you, because it probably won’t. This shift in thinking was a big one for me personally to understand.
