Keep this up and don't buckle when she warms back up because you're unavailable. It's a false lapse. You can turn the power-imbalance tables but only as an exit strategy. Don't share anything with your ex-friend. I know it's a habit but it'll hurt you later. Your life has changed, run towards what that is. Learn who you were again and lean into that. You're not less of a person, you just need to see the light of day to see yourself. Edit to add, don't be mad at her or yourself. Life changes, peo…

If this was an illustrated children's book, I'd buy it.

Please do! I have what I think is good lawyer but I wonder sometimes and don't want to find out too late that I don't.

How old is the kid? Infant is a pretty broad range when people use it as a term. That being said, I've been reading that 2:2 is a good schedule so there's lots of frequent exposure for the child. I'm still finding out but by STBX and I switch off about every other day and our daughter is 2.

Not that everyone has one but if you have a 401k, you can borrow from it at low rates and you get that money back. Very useful in a situation like this.

I can't say my situation was exactly the same but I can seriously empathize. I was called a 'gas lighter' while I myself was being gas-lit.It was when the Covid Alpha strain was winding down that I saw some of my close friends and remembered, "I'm not a piece of shit, am funny, and have friends that are way cooler than my STBX". It all flooded back that I was OK and not the illusion she was projecting onto me. I urge to be safe but find what helps you remember who you were before this asshole da…

All great points and thanks for taking the time. Question about #5, Avoiding deadlocks. What are some approaches to this? STBX loves to threaten court when she doesn't get her way (even when asking for a favor). I can afford it but spent my half of the house proceeds on a new house while she sits on hers in an apartment and is willing to piss it away online shopping and on court fees if it comes to that.

For podcasts I would highly recommend Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. Most are free (A few ask for an optional 1$ donation) and are damned insightful. Blueprint for Armageddon really opened my eyes to world politics during WWI.

Off topic but the comments mechanism on that site is awesome. I hadn't seen a slide out from the right thing like that before. Well done! Oh and that lady be crazy and needs to reflect on her whole scene.

Not sure why people have to find ways to take pot shots about unrelated political issues. I then remember that a lot of teenagers end up here and have no ability to filter themselves. You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
