Some times might to a vocational assessment and impute income. Be careful with that.

I did mine at 27 after a bunch of kids. It was a hostile relationship, and I got one at the demand of the ex, who said it would make everything get better. In hindsight I’m glad I got one when I did and didn’t have to worry about having more children with such a horrible person. Here I am several years later and with an extremely loving and wonderful girlfriend and we are both very glad I got it. I will get it reversed when we are ready, no questions asked, and have no reservations about that. I…

Marriage is wonderful. Do it! Just prenup yourself. Literally this is it.

Don’t do that. Terrible idea. You’ll end up being sanctioned and pay way more in legal fees. If you need to separate, you need to pay. In California, any property earned during the marriage is communal. No matter if she knows about it or not, if you earned it while you were married, it needs to be disclosed. If you earned it before marriage or after date of separation, it is separate property. It needs to be disclosed but it is your property. There’s a reason they say “it’s cheaper to keep her”.

Yeah, narcs have a hard time when they can’t get a rise out of people. Whatever you decide to do, keep your head up and know you’re going to be ok.

So I got fucked over because she was an extreme narcissist. I believed her in the beginning that she was going to hurt me and the kids if I left, so I didn’t h til I couldn’t take it anymore. Then she said if I didn’t give her all the money she would do it again. I have her all the money from my paycheck until I went to court. After court, she would have the kids ask me fire money so they can buy things. She personally was keeping child support. It was sad. But that was who she was. I would do i…

That’s one way to say life’s looking up.

When I left my abuse STBXW, I slept in my car for several months. My paycheck went to her and the kids, and I got nothing. I racked up tens of thousands of dollars of debt as a result. I slept in the parking lot at work and showered in the office before anyone came in. You can’t let the fear of money control you.

I like this approach. You’re parents were not in a loveless or abusive relationship with your ex. You were. They have a different perspective. Just because they are your parents doesn’t mean they are automatically entitled to continue to cause you pain. Tell them how you feel, and caring parents will not fall for ploys by the ex. They can have a relationship if they want, but they should also respect your feelings. Meetings with the ex should be fine if they really want, but they should be even …

“The best divorce is where both people walk away a little unhappy.” - my Judge. Congrats on the 50/50. I started out with 7 percent time because of lies by the ex and vicious lawyers. I’d say the goal is the kids, finances are import though. I couldn’t get out of my 7% time because she got 60% of my paycheck and the judge ordered me to have a 2-be apartment which I couldn’t afford as a result of the garnishment. It’s been terrible. If it’s causing a huge issue around your ability to live, fight.…

I get it! Hope one day you’re in a place to share some knowledge in r/legaladvice — nothing that constitutes legal advice but there’s a whole world of families that are ruined because the people that needed therapy either refused it or couldn’t afford it! Just a little comfort can help reclaim people. Keep up the good work!

Good response, but what about when that parent has the majority custody? I was in a situation where the relationship was severed because the primary parent was constantly making derogatory remarks in front of the children. The other parent now refuses to allow the children to attend therapy. What is the best way in your opinion to validate and show cause for parental alienation? I don’t want to change custody, but I do want to prove to the court so we can have a order for therapy.

Cheating doesn’t fuck up the kids, parents who make bad decisions do.

Keep mediation kid focused. In a move away case, the kids best interest matter over everything else. Remember that you don’t have to agree to the result, or accept it. Most of the time even in high conflict instead of mediation you want to be heard by a judge. They will give you the most time applicable by law. Always appear reasonable In mediation. Don’t settle for anything less. Remind the mediator and the judge the importance of the kids having you around. Make yourself available for those ho…

Depends on your job, look into working with management and HR. Some employers are willing to help out with family work life balance. They might give you an extra week! I will have to put my kids in summer camp depending on COVID regulations here in California. I have mine for 10 weeks over the summer and need to figure out care.

I spent $300,000 fighting my ex from moving away and lost. I lost because my company offers unlimited vacation and that makes it easier for me to travel, rather than my ex or the kids. I got a dog. Not having that purpose everyday, or the routine messes with me deeply. Once I got a dog I got a lot of that back. I felt better mentally and physically. My custody orders are now one week a month I fly across the country to see the kids. I have them for the full summer break and winter and spring bre…

Civil code states it’s only 2-party consent when confidential or non-public information is present as there is a reasonable sense of privacy. Meeting in a public area and discussing something private could be a violation, but by setting a public setting it’s much difficult to prove there was an expectation of privacy. Alternatively, there is also a civil/criminal code indicating the invasion of privacy and waiving the consent of one party is at fear of “grave bodily harm”. In this case I do thin…

Literally my narc ex is very similar. All exchanges take place in public where there’s no expectation of privacy’s. (Cali). I just keep the phone recording in my pocket whenever there is an exchange.
