Oh I can flirt lol and make them all laugh. This is kind of my point. I am not going "looking" per se for anyone (using apps, dating sites etc.) but just letting the natural process be whatever it may be.

I just wanted to say this is a massive part of it as well. Why should I suffer the pain of rejection? I'd rather just be out there and what will be will be.

OK, 4 replies. I think you need help in what to actually ask. But I see why you're here. From your original post, it IMPLIES you did wrong, but you want to find a way to pay less for your indiscretions AND for your OWN kids. Shameful

Glad it's going well for you... Just one leeeeetle thing... 1: buy some nice clothes get well and fancy dressed, no more sloppy skaterboy style. 2: get ripped in the gym 3: fix my kitchen, kids room, hallway to make the house half decent so i can invite potential woman. Can I suggest you make yourself happy, and good space for your kids before tackling the " i can invite potential woman."

First Off - Never apologise for asking for help. This sub is here for you. Some advice you might not like, you don't have to take it. But it gives you other viewpoints. I don't have any advice for your particular circumstance as I have no experience in it.

I'm also not sure why you are posting here - maybe to try and garner sympathy? This post does NOT belong here - you fucked up and are looking for some kind of sympathy?! Nope!

As soon as you leave, you will be exiting the family home and it will likely become "your fault" (IANAL so please take guidance on this) Having said that, it seems from what you say that you have no emotional attachment to your children? I apologise if that's not right, but read back what you wrote. Why can't you both agree to sell the "home" and go your individual seperate ways, but with child access etc.?

I get that fella, but don't make it shape who you are or who you become. Sorry if that sounds condescending, but as a 51 yr old, I don't want to hold onto hate, just look forward as best I can.

I don't have kids, but I am seeing Divorce as an adventure. For me it's a new start and doing things I held off from doing whilst married - silly example, going metal detectoring - but you could include your kids in a new hobby maybe? When I was growing up and my mum left my dad, it wasn't a common thing to happen and as an only child, I had no one to bounce things off. If you can, just reassure your kids that you love them, it's NOT their fault, and make times when you do have them (at first) i…

You care for her - that's understandable. You probably also want protect her - also understandable. BUT you also have to understand, you've both moved on. Part of that understanding is realising you can now do whatever you want to do. I'm going through a break up right now. Her decision. I was devastated at first, and kinda still am. You HAVE to concentrate on yourself first

I just want all of you guys out there, that may be having a hard time this Christmas/Holiday Season, for whatever reason. You have THIS space to vent, ask for advice or help whatever the day or time. Don't feel alone. You aren't.

As someone who still thinks of an Ex from over 30 yrs ago. Thank you. I can't guarantee I will ever forget it as it was my first broken heart, but I'll try. Speaking as someone who is currently going through 2nd divorce and starting yet again at 51 yrs old...

Am from UK so this Holiday is not something that resonates with me, but... How about volunteering at a shelter that provides Thanksgiving comforts to those less fortunate? That way you are surrounded by people who don't have an option what they do. Then get a takeaway and make your own Thanksgiving traditions

I'm in the UK so don't have advice for your exact situation, but I wanted you to know you're not alone in this. Personally I would get a lawyer close to home. I'm guessing the papers were filed in the state you reside? Maybe ask friends/Co Workers etc for recommendations on Lawyers. If you have joint bank accounts, you need to set one up for your pay to go into - nothing stopping you from transferring money for the upkeep of your daughter.

Update We are still living together almost as though nothing has changed. For me though, everything is tainted. Including the home we built together. I am now looking for properties and found some that actually excite me in the same area. But I don't even know if I want to stay in this area, so am asking my work if permanent WFH might be a possibility - and so I could move anywhere. I find this quite exciting and not the drudge I initially felt due to memories and possessions. That's what storag…

I'm in a similar boat. When we bought this house 10ish years ago, I had the say over certain rooms - so my living room has an open stone fireplace and woodburner. It did have a sofa that I chose but that has now been replaced. I had a workshop built in the garden that is my bolt hole. However. She runs a business from the property and has made adjustments to cater for that, so I am now thinking - I am going to GTFO and set up somewhere else.

Personally, I would write all of what you have said down, be it on paper or an email whatever. Maybe elaborate on some things. However, be aware this could be used against you if she wanted to be that person. Although if she responds to any of it - and I would say you tell her you don't want verbal responses, you want her to address it the way you have, then you could also use it if you needed to.

I am about to divorce for the 2nd time but engaged 3 times. At no point have I received any of the rings back, but I also didn't push for them to be returned.

O/T As much as I hate to say this, plus I'm not sure of the legalities. If you bought her rings and SHE has decided to break up the marriage, shouldn't the value of the rings count towards "your" settlement?

Sorry - stbxw? I don't know what that means. I appreciate you accepting my apology - everything is a bit raw right now so I tend to see the worst in everything and for that again I apologise. We do need to stick together, but I do see a lot of Male hoo-rah reaction to situations and nothing is ever black and white.

This is my current thinking - I would need at least 12 months to find somewhere else - this house is tainted now for me. I work in IT so theoretically could work anywhere, but wherever I might go would have to have certain accommodations I really don't think she can afford this house on her own, but if I were to move out, a lodger might cover it mostly. Right now, I just want out of here - but on my terms

Yes No - we added her to the mortgage when we renewed My father passed away 10 years ago and had a house that I sold for £170k. During that time, I quit a £40k+ job that would have killed me if I hadn't I used my new found savings to: Pay the mortgage Pay for holidays I've paid off her credit cards Paid £17k for a new car for her (she bought me a £6k car that I always wanted) So I now have £11k left of that money - yes I've spent it for my own reasons - some of which went into investments. I won…

Don’t show any emotions around her. That's exactly what I am doing. Although sometimes I do slip. Awkwardly, sometimes she calls me by the pet name she had for me and I kind of do a double take. I am in the spare room now and that's fine. We still cook and eat together which is probably doing neither of us any good
/r/Divorce_Men12/08/24 08:45 PM

Possibly. She does visit a therapist when she gets this way. I can't "force" her to do anything
/r/Divorce_Men12/08/24 08:43 PM

I don't. But her business revolves around where are now - dog boarding. So, it would be "easier" for me to find somewhere else on paper. But in reality, she would need to buy me out

This isn't the first split I have been through. My 1st wife sprung it on me too and asked me to move out as she had 2 kids by 2 other men and felt it would be best for them. I did, still paid the bills and mortgage until I said she had to find somewhere else or I would stop paying. I'm sorry to hear about your situation, I hope you have friends you can sound off to.

That's a very good question. When I first met her, I was still playing the field shall we say. She wasn't my first choice physically, but mentally we just clicked. She says we are more like best friends and I kind of agree with that. The shock was immense though - Yes, I thought we were building a forever place. A week on. If I thought either of us could buy the other out of the property, I'd be on it like sonic!

I get it. My wife and I had a deal. I could buy her flowers as long as they were reduced in the shop - today I bought some. She said "for the house?" I said "No. For you" Later on she came to me and said we need to get a valuation on the house. No More Flowers. You HAVE to look after number 1 - i.e. yourself, whatever that means.

I appreciate that in some areas, what I am describing can be seen as some sort of conflict - aside from me not knowing what I have done wrong (my wife is a manic depressive), please understand this is not an acrimonious situation - heh YET I suppose. I'm going to copy paste what I said to /u/techrmd3 - I hope neither of you mind that I really appreciate you taking the time to reply - thank you - it feels like I am not alone. FWIW I am in the UK so laws are a bit different I guess? Finances are, I pay most of the bills - mortgage, utilities, insurance etc. So, If I was able to move that to a different property, for me alone - that would leave my wife unable to cope.
