“Never do this” “Okay, that is the first thing I will do because it’s sure to prompt a big emotional response, which is the only way I can feel loved”

This is so shocking. I wish there were evidence and testimonies extant.

That’s a good tip. I also think watching a man eat wings is a good indicator of whether he’ll go down on you. If he picks at them gingerly, trying not to get sauce on his hands or his face, it’s a bad sign.

I agree with this. I’d also add... in my spare time, I don’t want to look at online dating profiles. It’s not fun. I do want to have hobbies and be social. If I meet someone, it’s going to be through doing hobbies and being social, because that’s how I want to spend my time. It will be incidental and lucky; not the result of me spending time specifically trying to meet someone via an activity (looking at online dating profiles) I don’t enjoy.

Yeah I found my way here from an r/relationships post I wrote while I was married. Hundreds of people saying he was abusive in the comments. It escalated during the pandemic and I left in April. One of the commentors said something like “Yeah I agree with everyone else, you need to leave, and then before you start dating again check out r/femaledatingstrategy.” Here I am, ready to break the cycle!

I’m not sure what “a straightforward conversation outside of sex” means, but I’ve never brought this up in bed. Rubbing my own clit is all I’ve ever done and I’m bored/tired of it.

Thank you for this. It was really helpful to read that.

Sorry. I didn’t know how much people would be interested in reading about contextual details. So I erred on the side of trying not to be boring. Death by a thousand cuts in dealing with my years of therapy?

We had another conversation. He said if sex is unsatisfying for me and he’s bad at it we should just remove it from the relationship. I said that’s not what I want - I want to try together to improve the situation. He said he doesn’t want to and basically told me we should just be friends. I said I’d see other people and he said “That’s fine. I want you to be happy.” He wishes I was the same as I was when we were dating. This is kind of the basis of RPW. To maintain the looks and personality of …

He’s not uneducated and he’s not clueless. He used to manage a sex museum. He doesn’t care. A few years ago (when I was still hopeful) I bought him the book “She Comes First: The Thinking Man’s Guide to Pleasuring a Woman” but it didn’t help. I do appreciate the script though. I need to scrape myself out of this mourning I’m in first. Either likely road - divorce or an orgasmless life - looks awful. That’s why I keep thinking about having an affair. I don’t want to rip my kids’ home apart and go…

I’ve honestly only ever had lovey dovey and quickie. Usually it’s both. Thanks for the list. Interesting to ponder.

It makes me sad to think about going to all this trouble and doing so much acting to trick him into wanting me to experience pleasure. I’m so sad and so mad. But I did post on this sub for a reason because any feminist or mainstream sub would have jumped straight to divorce. I feel really discouraged and just.... sad.

I appreciate this comment. I am not making any of the mistakes you suggested, unfortunately. I wish I were so I’d have something in my control to fix. It’s been this way for as long as we’ve been together. I never had a “like rabbits” phase with him or with anyone. There’s so little in it for me. My mentality has always been to focus on pleasuring the other person. It’s been my experience that men are not the same way. I dress nice, I’m in shape, I don’t bring this up in bed. I think I’m going t…

I’m surprised to see more than one person allude to the idea of divorce over this. I’m 34 with two kids. How likely is it to find someone else? I’ve also experienced this with the four boyfriends I had before I got married. It makes me think this is just how men are. I’m grateful for all the comments. I guess I was expecting to hear from RPW that my SMV is low, I’ve got a good provider and father, and that most men don’t try to pleasure their wives so I should stop whining and get over it.

If I moan while he’s poking my urethra with his tongue, or roughly mashing my clit around, it gives him the false impression that those are good things to do. I would do positive reinforcement but there hasn’t been anything to positively reinforce. I can touch myself during sex, and I can and do use a vibrator, as I mentioned in the OP. I am not complaining that PIV sex doesn’t bring me to orgasm; I understand anatomy. My clitoris is too far away from my vagina for that to work. I’m frustrated t…

When I met my husband, he was 42 and I was 28, and he said he didn’t want to get married or have kids. I said I was going to start seeing other people then, because marriage and children were important to me. (I was bluffing.) We debated about it for about six months, and finally he agreed to marry me and have a kid. Our kids are now 4 and 1, and we both love them completely. He’s a truly great father. I think a man can be reluctant initially and end up loving the experience of fatherhood. I’ve …

I find critiques go over well when I say a lot of things like, “You probably already know this, but...” and “For me personally, I’d do xyz, but maybe there’s a reason you wouldn’t...” and “Just from a layman’s perspective, I thought...” There are a lot of phrases like that, that show him you don’t think you know more than he does in this area. They’re easy for me to come up with because I just think what I’d like to hear from someone who is not in my field and giving their opinion.

It should slightly raise it, because of men’s need to feel superior.

I have never dated a guy with a super-high sex drive, and I’ve gotta say... it sounds hellish. There are great, non-beta guys out there who have an average to low sex drive. Get you one of those.

You can put Monistat on your scalp. Check out the Long Hair Community discussion forums for more info. A lot of people say it works.

This was helpful. All of your advice was helpful. We had a good talk today. Thank you. Things are better. It was helpful to read over what I’d written and hear how it sounded to others. I’ve got to delete it though. I wrote so candidly it would be terrible if he ever found it somehow.

But it only works in instances where you actually know less or are incorrect. I do play up any ignorance I have. I do make fun of myself and draw attention to times or areas in which I’m dumb. But I chafe at the idea that I need to make myself dumb when/where I’m not. Also, playing up my ignorance flatters his ego in the moment... but then later, when we’re having a serious conversation, he’ll use it to undermine me. When I am trying to get him to agree with me about the best way to approach som…

Rather than saying "Why don't you respect me", ask him quite seriously "In what ways have I changed? Have I been emasculating you?" Ask with a quiet, respectful tone, because you want him to answer honestly but you also want to bring out his protective side. I see where you’re going with this advice, but I think saying the word emasculating is emasculating. When he says you went the wrong way and is being a good sport about it, when you know you didn't, don't punish his good behavior. Reward his…

That was really kind. Thank you for taking the time to write that. In a situation where I have to choose between being happy or being right, it feels like a choice between “being right” - saying what I think - and being frustrated and unhappy - not saying what I think. I associate not saying what I think with being afraid of people and a people-pleaser. When I was younger, I never stood up for myself, and after interactions were over I’d be so upset with myself for not having the courage or pres…

My husband is 14 years older than me. He once told me I’m the only funny woman he’s ever dated, which baffled me - how could you have an entire relationship with someone who you don’t think is funny?? This is his only relationship with a much younger woman. My theory is that the intensity of a smart, assertive, and quick-witted woman can be too much if not tempered by some quality that will sort the man and woman into a Captain/First Mate hierarchy. Age can be that sorting mechanism. I don’t hav…
