that metaphor assumes that if/when the man in the desert finds water it’ll be safe to drink

makes sense, thx for the conversation. think i understand your actual position and generally agree too. probably could have an entire debate on why/how those thoughts are immoral but probs too philosophical and out of scope :p

right so in every real world situation where thoughts are private and you can’t read minds, you have no objection to men sexualizing women who are just living their everyday lives. the immorality only matters to you in the hypothetical where you magically know what they’re thinking?

that’s a pretty big departure from your initial comment but just to make sure i understand your final position: you think it’s immoral for men to sexually objectify women who are just living their everyday lives, but you agree that they have every right to do so and that you can’t (and don’t want to) stop them or demand consent for it?

right so to clarify your first comment isn’t your actual position? sexualizing somebody doesn’t and shouldn’t require consent?

if the comment or action is in no way directed (they’ll never see it) to the person being sexualized, does it still require consent?

right so to clarify you have no issue with men sexualizing or objectifying women. you have a problem with men saying or doing things that in your view require consent (but whether they’re sexualizing that person has no bearing here). is that correct? if so, follow up question: if the comment or action is in no way directed (they’ll never see it) to the person being sexualized, does it still require consent?

can’t you sexualize somebody without saying anything to them or acting any way towards them? it’s also not an assumption if you explicitly have to ask. are you advocating for people to ask “is it all right if i sexualize you?” forgive me if i’m misunderstanding but it feels like you’re conflating two very different things? my understanding of your position is that it’s okay to sexualize somebody if you have consent to do so, where consent can be assumed if you know the person? but that doesn’t t…

so then consent (to be sexualized) can be assumed based purely off of what you’re wearing?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/26 06:58 PM

is it at least technically possible for you to wear the same lingerie around your partner while not consenting to being sexualized [by them]?

Yes. A woman posting a bikini photo or a lingerie photo is consenting to being looked at. isn’t it also true that a woman posting any picture of themselves online is consenting to being looked at? i’m confused on what relevance bikini or lingerie has here unless you meant consenting to being sexualized? i think that’s the root of my confusion with your position. it’s not super clear to me the distinction you’re making, is sexualization vs looking purely a function of what somebody is wearing? is…

is consenting to being looked at the same thing as consenting to being sexualized? is a person walking down the street in a bikini or lingerie consenting for someone to sexualize them? edit: also curious on your answer to the last question i asked in my previous reply
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/26 05:30 PM

dude isn’t here for genuine good faith debate not even worth engaging with him :p

so before somebody can sexualize somebody else they need consent? and it can be assumed by the clothing someone wears (lingerie)? or is it contingent on a pre-established relationship (a partner)? is it at least technically possible for you to wear the same lingerie around your partner while not consenting to be sexualized?

this is not a debate prompt, can prescribe anything for “some” people lol

agree that in principle higher exposure is more likely to result in more opportunities, but how that actually manifests in terms of outcomes wholly depends on the type of social circle(s) + so many other variables like as a general statement yeah it helps, but whether it helps in a genuinely substantive way can’t be reduced to a binary (social circle vs no social circle)

yeah lol same, it’s funny how that works, generally counter to what a lot of people think or even preach you should do :p still though, for men who can’t get that same attention due to factors that aren’t trivial to address or change (extremely short height, disfigurement, generally just not attractive), i can’t really think of much they can do to substantively move the needle where regardless of their good nature - they don’t clear the bar and many would opt for a man who might not be the pures…

so this is only applicable to men who are able to get matches (where they then might struggle to “convert” due to their own inhibitions)? to a man who struggles to get matches period, it follows that when they do get one that they’re more likely to play it safe, which consequently (to your point) could actually have an adverse effect? in the same way that it follows that a man who drowns in an excess amount of matches is more likely to just say whatever the fuck they want because there’s always …

i think i’d agree in principle but how does this apply to dynamics where courtship is gated behind something like a swipe?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/26 04:50 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
