All of my exes would treat me this way, if I let them. In the past I have, because I liked their attention. Whether or not my exes did so because they wanted me back--some yes, some probably no. I had one instance of an ex coming between me and a boyfriend. I flipped out and it ended badly. They continued to text despite me saying I was uncomfortable. He stood his ground and said I couldn't tell him who his friends are. I screamed that he was naive if he thought she wanted to be friends with him…

Alice may be a very nice woman, but she doesn't sound very smart. Which is probably why he likes her--she puts up with his behavior. I would worry less about this dude, since he clearly isn't interested in an LTR with you, and focus more on the fact that you learned a few lessons: AWALT. Surprise, surprise that his SMV gets your lady-bits tingling to the point that you can't help but be attracted to him. I applaud you for not giving in! This could've very easily been a sadder post where you are …

I also want to add that once he says you haven't ruined the relationship--don't ask again. Don't annoy him with the need for reassurance. You need to trust him enough that he means what he says and drop the subject for eternity, unless of course you want him to reconsider his original statement.

Worrying is a worthless hobby. Do you find that you have ups and downs in life that almost seem to cycle? Like sometimes you can control it but other times you're out of control with the thoughts and emotions? I only ask because it took me years to find out I have a hormonal imbalance, and I can pinpoint the cycles that were out of whack now. I also used to beat myself up over being weak and needy and feeling like I was poisoning my relationship. Over time, and with perspective, I've been able t…

I wish there was a better way. I suppose it's not unfeminine to run to him for support. I'm afraid I'm going to burden him unnecessarily, though. :(

I'm grateful that I found RPW in time to not badmouth my man in front of any friends or family. The relationship he has with them is unlike any other, and his family feels the same towards me. I'm proud of the fact that the way we treat each other in public has become the gold standard in our friend group. I made a good impression on his family and friends when I said I don't doubt his judgment or abilities, in the middle of a conversation where people were ragging on their SOs.

Why would you feel obligated to smoke/drink? You haven't even hung out with them yet. Just because they like to have a good time doesn't mean they're going to judge you because your idea of a good time is different. Give your man some credit by giving his friends the benefit of the doubt that they're reasonable people. Reasonable people don't care whose girlfriend is doing what, as long as she's a pleasure to be around. And for the Lord God in Heaven's sake, why are you so quick to compromise yo…

My man told me on the first date that he has lots of close female friends. I said okay..? It didn't bother me in the beginning of our relationship, but it did one night when I was in class and he went to a show with one of them, and ran into some other friends of his. All of a sudden it's this huge issue in our friend group. That night we had a conversation about how what he does and what I do reflects on each other, and how happily taken people don't go out one-on-one with someone of the opposi…

What you've said is fitting for my situation--especially the unwanted sexual advances making you think men are always ready and willing. I've been working on tenderness outside of the bedroom and the atmosphere inside has dramatically improved. I'm ashamed that I was basically treating him as a "human vibrator" as you said. I won't let it happen again.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Starting a family has always been a priority for both of us, from the get go. I'm not exactly "sick", nor am I lying or after child support or just trying to lock down a beta. Thank you for the laugh though! We both got a kick out of your comment last night (the man thought it was especially hilarious because I make considerably more money than him, and we're planning on him staying at home with the kids--his idea--so if anyone is paying alimony it would be me).

Hello all! I've posted a number of times here asking for advice. I'm 26 (27 in 8 days! woo!), unofficially engaged to my man of only 10 months. He has the ring and is waiting to make it special. It's fast, but I've done A LOT of dating and he's it. I just wanted to share how I found this sub, since it amuses me to this day. I used to be a bit of a player--I was never a plate. I actually was researching The Game B.S. to hone my own skills and be better at reading interactions between men and wome…

I think that's where I'm headed--just going to stop talking about it from here on out. Last night was nice. We just cuddled, but I still felt loved and connected. I got a goodbye kiss this morning :)

Honestly, if we touched like that more often I wouldn't feel so compelled to have sex.

That is golden. That really hits home as to why previous conversations go nowhere. Thank you for the recommendation--and yes, I think I do fall into the over-analyzing category in this instance (though I've had my share of holding onto toxic relationships too long).

The ex comments were from VERY early on, when we were feeling each other out. I actually disagree about the health of the relationship, and I know we are both committed (despite what he says in the heat of an argument). That's why I post here--I need advice from people who know how to weather a storm. Up to this point in my life I've just left once it was difficult. We are practicing resilience right now. I really do appreciate your concern though, and I know it's coming from a good place. Thank…

There is definitely no chase. Him asking me to just let it happen supports your point. I need to stop talking about it and instigating and let him take the lead when he wants to. If that's once a week, I can live with it.

With my past, I've experienced a lot of harmful relationships and this just isn't one of them. That's part of the reason why I feel like I need to learn how to not jump ship once the big waves come up. The possibility of a dead bedroom with him is still leagues away from a healthy sex life with a man who doesn't have the rest of the qualities that make him so perfect for me. Right now, we're TTC very casually. I don't think I'm actually capable of getting pregnant. I just have to prove it to him…

Before we moved it, it was every day we spent together, which was only 2-3 days a week. Now it's 2-3 days a week, but we live together and I thought we would have more sex. Like, every day. Thank you all. I didn't see that our frequency has actually remained the same.

The first three months we didn't see each other as often. When I think about how, by month four, we were spending every weekend together, it would make sense that we are actually having the same amount of sex, but spending way more time together. The ratio was off, is all. I feel like all of my life I've been told that any many will drop whatever he's doing to have sex. So I don't trust that he's not the same way, since it goes against my life experience up to this point. I am definitely insecur…

We're both on the same page as far as future plans. This year we found out I have PCOS and I'm also having issues with bad pap smears--CIN 1/2--so our timeframe is moving up. Otherwise we would be waiting longer to start TFAB, but our fear is that if we delay it, our chances of success will go down dramatically. I don't ovulate every month as it is, so right now (at his request) I'm just charting on my own and letting sex happen when it happens. More than likely we're going to need intervention …

Whoa whoa whoa... where did I say lie? Not ONCE has my man asked me, and if he did of course I would tell him the truth. He has brought up his own number, while drunk, when talking about how much he loved me. He rambled, and I didn't interrupt. The other pieces of information about my past that I told him, I did so in the beginning of our relationship. We're talking date two. He knows what my life was like before--I haven't hid anything. He doesn't care to know the details. If he did, he would a…

I really, truly want to believe that there is known, provable data to support your point. Unfortunately, I can't rely on bar graphs made from data that is, by the author's admission, "not available anywhere in the published literature", and compiled by someone who desires anonymity. Tonight I shall make a bar graph which supports how I can eat ice cream for dinner and call it keto. It will be just as scientifically valid.

I also want to comment that this is the reason why men are told by TRP to avoid women with daddy issues or who come from broken homes. More often than not, the lessons we learn from a young age will shape our world view for life. I think it's near impossible for the reactive RP man to understand a few things.. one, that being damaged as a child from your own parents by withholding love and necessary resources will undoubtedly result in a promiscuous young woman, so any sense of "right" or "wrong…

I can relate on to your relationship with you mother. She always had a "boyfriend" staying with us, and often times I was exposed to inappropriate things. My mother actually told me once that I was the worst thing that ever happened to her. It's pretty awful. I also had some non-friends growing up that I should've avoided. It's so easy to not be picky with your company when you're just happy to have ANYONE like you, even just a little bit. I'm really sorry to hear that you had a similar childhoo…

I would take some of the great advice here then.. no sex until you've found that man, however long it takes. Build yourself into the woman you want to be in the mean time. If you can stay focused on your long term goals, you'll be fine.

We have spa night. I'll bust out a Lush bomb and we'll soak our feet in the hottest water we can stand.. then I'll use a pumice stone on him, and finish off with a foot rub with lotion. I did it once by myself after we moved in together and he asked to join me because I was like, "YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW AMAZING THIS FEELS." Now he requests it. ;) I came home this weekend from being out of town and I just climbed on top of him and stayed there for a while.. lots of kisses and staring into each othe…

This is pretty much where I go with it. "I made bad decisions when I was younger that were directly related to feeling worthless after being abused as a child. I'm not the same person anymore.. I've forgiven myself and moved on. I understand, though, if you aren't able to have a relationship with me because of that." This is always a convo to be had before exclusivity, before sex, when they are looking me up and down and asking how I'm not married yet. I usually say that I'm trying but I haven't…

I don't feel the need to address your comments that the love I have for my life and my man are somehow self-centered. As far as my childhood goes--I absolutely was never even told there was another way to live my life. As many people do, I simply followed the path ahead of me set by my drug-addicted, routinely homeless mother, who would often put me (at a young age, against my own volition) in sexual situations with men for money. I thought that was normal, until my sister's father took me in as…

I reformed at 25. I never disclose my number because I don't think it will add anything to our relationship, more likely he will be turned off. He does know I had a rough childhood and a troubled past. However, he knows and loves the woman I am, today. I had a wake up call and started respecting myself first. He met me after that. I absolutely feel like I hit the jackpot with him, but he's definitely not what others consider top 20%. I'm his simple country girl, he's my loyal hardworking man, an…

On OKC, we had chatted and he was one of the many guys I was interested in dating but he never asked me for my number, so I went on depressing date after depressing date before I decided to take a break. After a month and a half off of OKC, I saw something that reminded me of our conversation, so I reactivated my profile and we chatted again. This time I said I would like to meet him, and I gave him a time and place that I would be studying. From the moment he walked in I knew I wanted him. It w…

You know what else I'm realizing now? How awesome this community is to back up a complete stranger. Of course he's not an asshole, he's the man I respect so much that I fell completely in love with him! By cluing me into my own awful behavior, I'm being supported in what is the most important decision of my life--who I will spend it with. Before? I would've continued to fight and fight and fight.. Today when he left his lunch (again..I need to put a table by the door for it) I just let him know …

Yes I have read the sidebar. We haven't called each other names in anger before, and it has been understood that we would not based on previous conversations, so it was a shock for me. I came here for an outside perspective, because I'm not surrounded by RPW in my everyday life. I was hoping to see this whole thing differently, and a lot of other women were incredibly helpful and insightful. I'm still in transition, which I mentioned in my original post, so it should be no surprise to anyone tha…

I like the idea of asking him why. I hope it doesn't backfire into "because I said so" ; ) I can't pinpoint why I'm taking everything so personally. I think I'm just used to not having to answer to anyone else. I need to accept that since my decisions don't affect only me anymore, they are open for debate. We both know and agreed from date one that we're looking for marriage, so I need to keep my mind away from thinking that it's my money I'm spending so it's none of his business--it's not just …

You're right about me focusing on the negatives. Most of our interaction has been during our "breaks" and he has been on his phone during meals, which also irks me. I expect he probably has always spent so much time on his phone but it never affected me because we didn't see each other this much before. You're also right that he doesn't HAVE to thank me. It's my own expectation, and it's not necessarily right or wrong for him to do. It's simply "polite", but he doesn't owe that to me. We did, ho…

He normally gets super short with people when he travels, so I just tune him out. Besides that, no, no indication he would be like this. He's normally very thoughtful, helpful, caring. It probably is just the stress of moving coming out in weird ways. I am not the kind of woman to fling aside my commitments so lightly, though. If I started acting differently to him I would hope he'd give me time to work through whatever was going on before jumping ship.

Please do the world a favor and get on valacyclovir or whatever anti viral you can. I take 500MG once a day and in the 8 months since my diagnosis can't tell if I've ever had another outbreak because I'm not sure if it was just an ingrown hair or not. Step two, adjust your mindset just a teeny bit. I'm not saying start thinking that herpes is the best thing that ever happened to you.
