You sound like a professional in some field filled with other professionals. I'm not suggesting one should have to stay overtime often, and that's what makes a good employee. But rather that it's common in my experience to see an employee take the final 5-10 minutes of their shift gathering their things to take home, and often simply waiting (literally nothing other than waiting) for the minute/second to come when they can walk out the door.
