My entire argument is based on the information that I've learned. Someone else said that she may have had earbuds in but I cant find anything saying that other than a random redditor so my position remains the same until someone can actually show me that she had earbuds in and didnt hear the officer. The order was lawful because she refused to leave the train. She was told to leave the train because she refused to move her shit off an open seat. If she had moved her shit then the police wouldn't…

The order was lawful because she was allegedly refusing to leave the train after disobeying the rules of the train. That was the point I was trying to make. If you disobey the rules of an establishment (not illegal) then they can kick you out. At thst point if you refuse to leave then you are treaspassing (illegal). She disobeyed a lawful order (to leave the train).

The point I'm making is that she wasnt "arrested for having her feet on the seat" she was arrested because she disobeyed a lawful order. But someone else mentioned that she was found not guilty because the officer admitted that she had earbuds in and didn't hear him when he gave his warnings. I personally haven't found anything after reading 5 different articles, but if thats true I'll concede my position.

Where did you find that info? I've read 5 different articles and none of them mention her having earbuds in. If that's true then I'll concede everything I said.

Well knowing that there isnt a law that says you cant put your feet on a seat its pretty simple to figure out what they were arrested for. You're probably the same type of person who critizes police for "shooting someone for shoplifting" because you completely ignore context and the part where the "shoplifter" pulled a knife. What initiated the police contact and the result of the incident arent the same thing.

Ah so you dont have the ability for critical thought then?

She wasn't arrested for having her foot on the seat, she was arrested for refusing to get off of the train after being kicked off for not getting her foot off the seat. There is a distinct difference between the two. You cant be arrested for refusing to wear a mask into a store, but you can be arrested for refusing to leave the store after being told to by staff. Same concept.

And there are varying degrees of dementia. I'm not disparaging your grandmother by my statement but a lot of late stage dementia patients are completely unaware of what they are doing and saying.

Seriously. Everyone in this thread praising the headline have probably never met someone with dementia and have no clue what they're like.

Hey nothing personal against you, but it's just a post from a guy. It's not even at least a story. PPD to me is actual news or video of a woman trying to play the "woman card" and getting denied. i.e. a woman offering a cop sex to get out of a ticket and her going to jail for bribing a police officer.

No, this doesn't count. Literally no PPD.

Didn't the actual event take place over 10 years ago, before Louis was famous or had power like he does now?

Nah. They just got in the middle of it to de-escalate. The guy even says "I saw her hit you first". pussy pass would have been granted if the 2 guys attacked him.

It's a perfectly reasonable argument while I was under the impression that he didn't work there.

He says "I'm working" but I'm pretty sure he's meaning to say "I'm working on it" meaning he doesn't need the employees to interfere. He has nothing on him that indicates that he works their and it's apparent that the manager doesn't want any of her employees being involved with the way she pulls the other 2 employees away. As for why I pointed it out... Did you even read the comment prior to mine?

Well I'll be damned. Thanks, I didn't know that. I do just have to point out that the guy conducting the arrest in the video doesn't work for the shop so I don't think that would apply.

You arrest them, not detain them. Detaining someone is temporarily holding them in custody until an investigation can be completed. Citizens do not have that right. As a citizen you place them under a citizen's arrest and that's only if you witness them commit a misdemeanor. A felony you don't actually have to witness but can be informed of it by a third party and be in the vicinity of the crime being committed. Im only being pedantic because people have gone to jail for kidnapping because they …
