Oh god, I used to do this in the other direction. I love shy, innocent girls, especially if they're being really open and sincere. So I would go up to girls all shy-like and meekly tell them that I like them. It was not very effective.

Ya, 40 year olds can still look good on TV sometimes, but that's about it.

You should make a separate post about this. The follow-up is gold.

Teams are secretive about their scouting strategies, but we know at least one team that won the World Series using sabermetrics. In 2002, the Red Sox tried to hire on Billy Beane as their GM. In 2003, they hired Bill James, the author of Moneyball, and Bill still works for them. In 2004 they won their first World Series in 86 years. Yes, this advice is targeted at straight men. You would choose to implement this advice because you believe it might work, whether because it makes sense to you intuitively, or you just trust Heartiste. If it does work, you can even proceed to recommend it to others.

Here is how to falsify this claim. Implement golden ratio, as per Heartiste Decide whether you are now more or less successful with women I get that this is not exactly a scientific level of proof. There is no scientifically proven, consistent way to be attractive to the opposite gender. It doesn't exist. Trading advice that works for us individually is currently the best option we have. It's not as good as science, but it is a hell of a lot better than nothing.

Sounds like he was below the ideal ratio. This doesn't really contradict heartiste.
