Yes. Google is your friend. (This argument is actually irrelevant to me, but have fun finding credible data to support your side.)

It's a reasonable supposition that a woman with a graduate degree can give a nuanced answer to why they don't support trump, ranging from his chaotic domestic and macroeconomic choices (including breaking campaign promises e.g infrastructure) to his baffling flip-flops on foreign policy.

As a woman (...who never wanted kids and makes 6-figures...), I completely agree. I am reading these posts partly out of frustration with my friends: lovely women in their late 30s making terrible decisions for themselves vis-a-vis what they want in life. One in particular is 35 and wants marriage + kids asap. To her credit, she did not slut-out, rather she had a LTR that didn't result in marriage -- and then when heartbroken, focused too much on her career. In theory she's a reasonable catch: v…

Finally, someone posting data -- although data from an IVF clinic, so... skewed towards scare tactics because they're trying to make a buck... anyway, yes, if she wants her own genetic children badly enough, she should have already frozen her eggs.

She has a graduate degree herself. Sure, maybe she should widen her net, but it's not completely unreasonable to want to marry someone intellectually fulfilling.

She has a graduate degree, probably has decent medical care access. (If she's smart, she already froze her eggs.)

Super interesting comment... I'm going to think about this. I do like to date men who are slightly more conservative than me, but they still have to have consistency and mostly-shared values. I get irritated by liberal men when they are inconsistent/illogical (especially unexamined neoliberalism). The appeal of conservative leaning can be thoughtfulness and core values -- current administration reflects neither.

Or a 50 year old dude who still wants kids, as I know anecdotally they're out there.

Actually, as she's divorced, she was marriage-minded in her 20s. Why it didn't work out is pure speculation. She really wants kids -- maybe her husband was impotent?
/r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen26/04/20 07:33 PM

Look: she DID marry young (she's divorced) and it didn't work out. So at the very least, she was marriage-minded in her 20s. Maybe she married a hot jerk and realized it was a mistake. Maybe she cheated (like ya'll seem to automatically assume) and that ended things. Or... maybe he was impotent, and it's really important for her to have genetic children with her spouse. But she could (theoretically though improbably) have had one sexual partner in her life.
/r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen26/04/20 07:30 PM

She probably has savings and a 401K. Sounds like a better person to have kids with in a recession than a woman in her 20s with college debt and no 401K.

Yes. The genetic degradation of eggs -- much like the genetic degradation of sperm -- begins around 40, but many women are fertile until menopause (50s). It's just not a great idea to wait until 40s because you only get 12 eggs a year (unless IVF) and even the gradual genetic degradation become statistically relevant. But it's still quite possible to have healthy children in your 40s. (A 43 year old friend of mine just had an oops baby -- 3rd child and they can afford it -- with her husband.) BT…

Nope. Scientifically, physiologically pregnancy in mid-to-late 20s is peak, with healthy 30s also being very good. Historical peaks reflect overall death rates several decades lower than today's averages -- if there's a 70% chance you're going to die by the time you're 32, of course you have kids sooner (not that, historically, women had a choice about what's best for their health and body). It's just not relevant today, and we have the benefit of true biological peak.
/r/WhereAreAllTheGoodMen26/04/20 07:03 PM

Actually, the peak BIOLOGICAL time for child-bearing is 24-32 years of age. Assuming a woman takes reasonable care of herself, she is LESS likely to have pregnancy complications in her late 20s than at 18. Genetically, eggs are still just as healthy at 18 as 32, and the genetic degradation in late-30s-to-early-40s is gradual, not exponential (btw, sperm starts degrading at 40, too), though complications do rise. You can literally look up the science on this. Go ahead and spout opinions about des…

In no way would I make a "hand-wave excuse" for rape, regardless of who does it. What? I wasn't talking about what women do, because this whole thread is about men + sexbots. Also, women raping boys is a false equivalence from a statistical standpoint (not, of course, the actual terribleness of it, which: rape is always terrible). The prostitution market for women raping boys is probably undocumented because of rarity. The porn market for that -- geared towards women, not sick men -- is also lik…

This is absolutely NOT true. Lots of men want kids (i.e. their own). As a (rare) woman who never wanted kids, I have had multiple relationships end because I was like, "no, even though you are a wonderful, high value dude, I simply don't want rugrats -- even yours." So, rather than be in an incompatible relationship, things ended (tbh I usually ended it), because if you love someone yet you are fundamentally incompatible, you gotta break up. In your early-to-mid 20s, sometimes guys don't know ri…

I will speak for myself and for some (but not all) of my friends: women will most certainly sleep with a guy because he's hot/signals he is good in bed, and definitely NOT want a relationship with him. Case in point, I made my favorite FWB get a sidechick because he needed more emotional support than I was willing to give him. (No shade, I just didn't have the bandwidth and wanted him to feel supported.) But I make good money and don't want kids, so could be an outlier. Though even my female fri…

I am not representing myself as "most women" but I definitely have had and currently have casual sex/FWB (...Covid-19 is cramping my style, but that's another topic). I don't "reserve" sex with a guy for only if I have commitment/love. I have a high standard for hotness (being in shape) and a low tolerance for bullshit (including making me do emotional work when we're not in a committed relationship... like, I'll listen to his problems like a friend, but I'm not going to play therapist for hours…

feminism is based on certain core ideological theories and those are fairly untouchable The only core ideology that ties together all of feminism is: women are people, too. Everything else is nuance and infighting, unfortunately. If you didn't know this/don't understand it, then you're too ignorant of the topic to be commenting on it. There are disagreements even within RadFem, and a huge discrepency between RadFem and 3rd wavers. Example: RadFems do not think legalizing prostitution helps anyth…

quotas and grand I'm new here. I hesitate to ask, but literally, what does this mean? The only quotas (a legal term) are in some EU countries for e.g. board seats. What is a "grand"? Grant?

It is a fact that SOME men do get off on hurting and degrading women (or seeing it done in porn). It is poorly-thought-out "feminist" "propaganda" (neither word being used correctly, but whatev) that ALL men get off on that. There's likely hidden demand from men (and also probably women) for better porn. But the porn market keeps pumping out (oh the puns) recursive crap because it's stuck in an energy well.

Unfortunately, some people's (read: some men's) favorite stimulation is somebody being hurt. When it's cheap to hurt someone (e.g. a sex worker), it happens more often. Legalizing prostitution makes paid sex (rape, if trafficked/coerced) cheaper -- and trafficking increases, and it all gets controlled by organized crime. Basically, legalizing prostitution doesn't really solve anything. Sexbots are a great idea in theory because they reduce the number of humans being hurt. But it's unlikely the m…

I'm new here, but... what? It's really messed up to say that male depression is "entirely self-inflicted and self-maintained" -- even the male depression that is directly linked to feelings of unworthiness about not getting laid. (Nobody is entitled to get laid; and yet culture tells us we're only valued/winning/important if we're getting laid by the "right" person, leading to people not getting laid thinking they have no value.) A depressed person's reaction to a messed up culture is NOT their …

I think a lot of women feel socialized to be conformist; a lot of people feel socialized to be conformist. Then there are people who try-too-hard to stand out. In women, this can look like performative quirkiness. In men, it's more straightforwardly show-off. If a woman is too show-offy (and/or opinionated), it's considered a turn-off. Is that what you mean by "unconfrontational"?

Having a genuine appreciation for the origin, preparation, and flavors of the food you're eating is most certainly "culture". Going to a trendy place solely so you can post your meal on IM is not.

Me too. About a month ago, I was around people who traveled a lot, and then got super, super sick. Fever, coughing, lungs hurt, etc., and it caught me off guard because I rarely get that sick. I self-quarantined only because I was too miserable to leave the house. I live in a place in the U.S. that is now one of the emerging hotspots.

I did that in my mid 20s. When I discovered that some men like to be cuckolded, I could be honest about it all. (Or they said they did... I tend to take people at their word, and if they're lying to themselves, it's not my problem.)

Actually, "seed" does expire, genetically. Men have a biological clock, too, for viable healthy children. They don't drop off a cliff, but the statistics aren't the best after your mid-40s.

Absolutely a need in American society to have more health, social services, mental health resources for men. Why are people seeing it as a zero sum game though??? It's an illustration of the f**kedupness of "conservative" rightwing policy.

Wait, is this true, that there's no government assistance for vasectomies? If so, that truly is an inequality and indeed people should be bitching/lobbying about it. In general, free birth control is a net societal good. There are plenty of places to get free condoms, though.

Lol, absolutely spot on. It's amazing how responsible men rarely wind up with oops babies.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/20 05:38 AM

Quick note: women can get their tubes tied as a parallel to vasectomies, though it's more invasive and less certain, plus not reversible. A hysterectomy is major surgery, kinda equivalent to removing the balls and much of a man's internal apparatus.

Use condoms. His own condoms, responsibly. Possibly also don't finish inside her. And yes, get snipped if he's sure he doesn't want kids. Seriously, it's not that difficult.

Maybe all men should get vasectomies as soon as they can freeze their sperm. If this were normal, could solve a dozen problems all at once. (I'm mostly ...mostly... kidding.)

As a woman who doesn't have and has never wanted children (and was shamed for it when I was younger but whatev), I also believe that our tax code should not promote baby-making. On the other hand, I think government has its place (witness: CDC), so I'm not joining your libertarian fantasy.

About 12-15 years ago, I read a study comparing how men identify themselves sexually to what they do. Basically it had two main graphs. The first, a plot of sexual identity (Kinsey scale), was what we all "know" -- 90% of men are straight. The second plot, aggregating data of reported sexual activity over five years, still showed peaks at completely straight and completely gay folks -- but more than 30% of men were along the spectrum of bi activities (significant sample set). Your perception of …

There are definitely girls into anime. Assuming he's willing to put forth reasonable dating efforts (grooming, socialization, maturity to love her back) and has modest means to meet women (e.g. at anime conventions), your friend just needs to get out there. Unless you're saying he's immaturely looking for unconditional love in an adult relationship, which is Alain de Botton territory and has nothing to do with liking anime.
