I got lucky and found a HVM on hinge. But he came into my life after many dates with LVM so it’s definitely not likely or easy. I actually liked to use OLD as a FDS training process to practice the ideologies on men (boys) who I didn’t care about and see how they responded. It also really helped me to figure out what I wanted in a relationship.

Thank you :) your story and your encouragement is really comforting for me!! I’m glad you were able to get out of the relationship and process what happened. We definitely deserve to feel like we are enough for our partners.

Thank you so much. I totally agree and what you said is really well put. It’s crucial to not share every thought that pops in your head especially when it will just feed insecurity. How did you handle the instances where you had something similar happen?

bf and i got on the topic of fantasies very briefly - he said one of his is a threesome. i immediately shut it down, and he said he was not asking me for one and knows i do not want one, he was merely voicing the fantasy. i said i get that many guys are into it, but still don't like the idea that he wants to sleep with someone besides me. he said he didn't know how to turn that off in his brain, and explained that men see attractive women and naturally think about having sex with them. He said h…

i have read the texting guidelines and understand in general you should never initiate contact. is it ever appropriate to send a follow-up text after a first date? like "thank you for dinner i had a nice time" if you want to see them again? i ask because i have been implementing advice i have read here - such as limiting date time to ~90 min, declining when he asks to go somewhere else for a drink after dinner, leaving him wanting more, etc. i was wondering if it's possible for this to be taken …

Omg you’re so sweet thank you so much. And I’ve never thought of it like that before! God so pathetic men are like this but that’s honestly really good insight

I would go if you feel comfortable and want to go! not like you need to sleep with him. It’s a nice offer

I was seeing this guy for a month, we would see each other 1-3 times per week. He hasn’t texted me for over a week.. the last time I saw him we spent the whole weekend together, went to a really nice dinner, slept with each other Saturday and Sunday... and he repeatedly would tell me how much he liked me and how he wanted to progress towards a relationship with me. Now he’s ghosting me.. part of me wants to message him but I know any explanation he would give me wouldn’t help and I should cut it…

Can I ask what you mean? Maybe I’m blind but I don’t see the intent that would be malicious. I think she was being stupid

Thank you. Yeah I thought it was strange of my friend to do. I think she did it as a joke. We were together and she goes “I’m gonna follow him” and I was so confused.... and I told her she shouldn’t have done that and she unfollowed him right away. I don’t know what the intention behind it was, but she did apologize for it and say she didn’t mean anything by it.

You don’t owe him anything, if you want to ghost it’s fine since he hasn’t done what you stated that you needed. You gave him fair warning. Ugh I’m the same, I can’t handle the dating sites. No idea where to find decent men lol

I went on a hinge date with this guy on Friday. He texted me that night after the date and the morning after and seemed super into me. My friend and I found him on insta on Saturday and she followed him without asking me and then immediately unfollowed him. Then he followed her. It’s awkward because we weren’t following each other. Anyway now he isn’t messaging me. This seems small and petty but I don’t know why else he would have gone cold so fast. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks

For this recent one, neither of us texted each other. But for a handful of the other dates ( 4 I can think of) I was ghosted where I had texted them and they didn’t respond. I learned my lesson to let them text first. That’s a good point, I’m sure I could have texted to say thanks for the date. I thought I made it clear I would like to see him again after he said multiple times that he would like to. I think I was tired of getting burned from these other guys who didn’t text me back

Ugh that’s so lame. Yeah all we can do is keep a good head on our shoulders. It’s awesome to hear the progress you’ve made in terms of not letting them give you anxiety! I’ve definitely noticed progress in myself too - before I totally would have texted this guy even though he doesn’t deserve it. It still blows my mind that guys are so fake. Is it really just at the chance that we may suddenly sleep with them at the last minute? Why say all this crap about future dates with no follow through?

Yeah I see your point! I’ll try that out. Sometimes I feel like I can’t tell how I feel about a guy in 90 minutes. But I’ll give that a go - good to keep them wanting more

Yeah that makes sense definitely. That was an anomaly - I had never had that happen before where we just wanted to keep doing more things together.

dating apps are awful. Trust me, you are not alone in feeling like they are full of LVM. I have gone on a good amount of dates from Hinge and they never go anywhere. According to my experience and some of my friends' experience it doesn't really matter if you are attractive or not - 99% of guys on there just want an easy lay within one date and if it doesn't work, they ghost and move onto another girl. Do you have hobbies outside of work where you could meet people? You could try Meetup. I pla…

How many days in advance should men plan a date with you? Some of these guys will ask if I’m free on certain days and I’ll give them a day I’m free, but then they won’t text me to confirm or name a place or time until the day before or the day of. By the time these guys text me again I genuinely have made other plans. What should my standard and response be?

Agreed. I was content on ghosting and then he sent the second message so I wasn’t sure if I should be honest and say his message weirded me out
