I wish this topic would die. There will NEVER be a consensus and white feminists will continue to push for a narrative that does not take into account the nuances and histories of people of colour. It’s also interesting to see how...North American that conversation is lol. Anti-black racism, while global in presence, is not always the dominant racism other places even if the country in question values fair skin and Aryan appearance. So many women in that thread are being patronizing as hell.

No sorry, not off the top of my head! It’s typically been in comments, I’ve not seen someone make entire posts about this kind of stuff. This sub is currently going through some growing pains so give it some time, but def keep an eye out for it. GC on the other hand..lol. The second I see anything about religion or culture, I nope the fuck out.

How long have you been in this sub? Bc it has plenty of liberal feminist meanings and barely concealed racism lol.

A lot of them don’t realize that they are advocating for the kind of world where the differences that make us beautiful, are erased. Or maybe they do realize it and it’s thinly veiled racism. I consider myself a radical feminist because I have little respect for liberal feminism and no personal affiliation with first wave feminism. However, there are a lot of branches of radfem politics that don’t sit well with me, separatism being the first and foremost. Yeah lemme just abandon my entire way of…

Yes let’s rethink culturally specific fun instead of teaching men to be better. Great idea!

I agree with you. Reddit is not the best platform for finding likeminded and inclusive radfems because a lot of them are white, from the Global North, and have disdain for engaging in ideas that don’t seek to uphold the culture-less, ahistorical narrative many are fond of. This sub is no better, in many ways. There are lots of radfems who are balanced and acknowledging of the kinds of things you’ve brought up (you can find a lot in r/gcdebatesqt), but typically any mention that a man may not be …

Good to know it extends beyond heterosexual pairings, bc that kind of blurs the origins of the term.

it's used for a work friend with whom you get along incredibly well and from whom you are more or less inseparable. I've never heard it used between people of the same sex and plays on the idea that men and women can't be just friends, so this is some heterosexual nonsense lol But some people do take the wife/husband thing too far

It also goes against the idea that women who have wrinkles, who have grey hairs, who have softer bodies, are still valuable and worthy human beings. idk, these posts rub me the wrong way

Tbh, enough with these wall posts. Especially when using influencers, women who photoshop, Instagram models, celebrities, etc. I’m also over this repeated emphasis on a very specific look that seems to be posted here a lot: petite, hyper feminine, often catering to the male gaze.

It's not. I write down everyone's first and last names. Also, what is a person supposed to do if they know several people with the same first name?

You make a good point abt messenger/email. Contacts are still "saved" in a sense. iPhones especially will smart-detect a previously deleted contact if you've ever exchanged an email with them. I've had people show up as "Maybe: [their name]" simply bc i've emailed them.

In theory so am I, but I’m not sure I 100% buy the idea that it removes a great deal of sensation from the penis. I’ve only slept with one uncircumcised man and the rest were cut, and not a single one of them had any troubles. I even asked them lol. I do think circumcised ones on the whole are cleaner

No offence to anyone in this sub but we should be making smart sexual decisions anyway. Being paid for in full or splitting a bill has no personal bearing on whether or not I sleep with a man. If a woman wants to be paid for in full and those are her standards, Godspeed. But let’s not conflate the two. True HVM are actively cognizant of sexual and gender dynamics, and aware of how they contribute/have contributed to the larger patriarchal narrative. They understand both why a woman would want to…

Don’t get me wrong there are some creepy ass lesbians out there (ones who behave like piggish heterosexual men) but the VAST majority would never say shit like this.

I know someone like that as well but her loyalty to men wavers. She also calls herself a lesbian even though she’s fully bisexual, just bc she primarily pursued women (now). I hate it and feel bad for lesbians when messy ass women do shit like this. She also considers herself trans/non-binary (I can’t ever keep up) so it’s like...OprahWhatIsTheTruth.gif

Yeah, I thought about that too and mostly agree with you. I think its just a little harder to parse the real from the fake with comedians in these situations because they're always performing.

There’s obviously no way of knowing if he actively watched porn but it would help to remember that he’s a comedian first and an actor second. And with the exception of a few recent roles, most of his acting is also comedic. So there’s a good chance he’s just joking.

People really dont understand that love is less about feelings and more about actions and choices, especially since our culture conflates love and infatuation. I've fallen "out of love" with my husband before but that's because true love for a person is not something you can just fall into. He truly is my world and fluctuating infatuation (which is affected by anything from having a bad day to where I am in my cycle) has nothing to do with our bond. I say all this in the hopes that this is what …

why are you doing all these things to appease men? I almost never wear dresses, and when I do, they are never revealing or short. I've never dyed my hair or styled it in any particularly trendy way. The only makeup I wear on a daily basis is a neutral my-lips-but-better lipstick and a natural looking blush. Don't ever make your life more complicated to appease anyone. The things you do should contribute to your overall well-being, mentally and physically, and should not cause you stress. If I fe…

The comments on the post are reasonable. I didn’t interpret it as his wife giving him permission to cheat, rather that if he were to ever stoop so low then he has to give her and his kids everything. But he interpreted it differently

My guess is faking orgasms is as old as time and says more about the state and history of heterosexual relationships than anything else. If you lived in a time where sex (at least publicly) is treated as something only for procreation, or if you were coupled with an abusive man whose dominance carried over to the bedroom, I can see why faking orgasms/pleasure was perhaps necessity.

I understand what you're saying but disagree with it. Why bother seeking those women out in the first place? A lack of compassion and morals isn't sex-specific but his statement reads as though men's part in cheating has to do with a kind of helplessness

Yikes, glad the book worked for you but I'd never take advice from a man who has said or done any of the following: . "Why do men cheat?...It's really because there are so many women out there willing to cheat with them." . "If a guy is out for one thing, it's best to go for shallow, unintelligent women...You don't want to break this news to a really bright woman, 'Hey, I just want to do something to you this evening" .When asked how to polite turn down a man: "You cannot stop a guy. To portray Adam’s character as sympathetic as possible was intentional: the movie is inspired by the director himself and his previous marriage to Jennifer Jason Leigh who he left while she was pregnant to get with Greta Gerwig. I also think I choosing Scarlett was an intentional choice because she’s kind of seen as insufferable off screen, whereas Adam Driver is a critical and audience darling. Your analysis is correct and anyone with half a brain should be able to see AD’s character for who he…

Both your points are valid. It’s an interesting conversation though because I feel like everyone interprets the Kardashians differently. You mentioned being unable to sympathize with her loneliness because she has people around her who love her. I agree that they love her but I personally feel like their love is not nice, it’s not healthy. Kylie never stood a chance: she’s been around her toxic parents and her brainwashed sisters her whole life, was on national television since the age of 9, and…

Decide what you want within the context of your current situation. Contrary to what a lot of people on this sub say, material goods are only indicative of so much. Lots of examples of men who pay for nice dinners or even give jewelry who turn out to be unworthy of one's time. You should be able to discern that a person is thinking of you and your happiness through whatever standards you set for yourself, and this requires knowing who you are and what you want. I suggest doing a little more soul …

There're a fair number of things on this sub that I disagree with as far as material goods are concerned but LDR's require a certain degree of effort to make up for the lack of physical closeness. A not-insignificant portion of this effort is material and it's up to you to decide what matters. I was in a LDR for 3 years with my now-husband. I was in graduate school while he worked full-time. He'd come every other month on average, stay in my city for 3-5 days, and we'd go out together to a ton o…
