Yeah, sadly that's the way it is in parts of the US. Hopefully we will be a first world country some day soon!

I'm really not talking about Canadian laws or opinions, I'm speaking of the US. The kinds of laws I'm talking about are ones that effectively outlaw all abortions by drastically restricting or eliminating clinics or requiring long waiting periods or permission from other people, or requiring a prescription and doctor's visit for things like Plan B. Even if some women support these laws it doesn't make them any less anti-woman. It's certainly possible to advocate for things to go against your own…

Yeah, Japanese work culture is pretty overwhelming in term of the amount of hours you're required to work to get ahead or even maintain your position. On top of the workplace competitiveness, it's an extremely expensive place to live so working less isn't really an option. This leads to a very high-stress environment, and people in general become less interested in having children, pursuing relationships or even having sex when they're that stressed.

Every time a politician wants to get voted in, he (or she) caters to women. This may be the case in some parts of the country, but certainly not others. There are plenty of states (think the south and the midwest) where anti-woman (e.g. anti-abortion and birth control) policies are what get politicians elected.

They way it was written didn't really give me the impression that it was truthful, I don't know, maybe this guy just had a very odd writing style but it felt weirdly stilted and contrived in some areas.

Wait, what makes you assume that this person is a man? Sooo not following here
/r/MensRights16/10/12 06:26 AM

Hahaha I got you to sound like Dwight, that was really all I wanted to do. But seriously, you are aware of every single law that has been passed in Norway the past couple years? All of them? I certainly can't compete with that level of knowledge, not even gonna try.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 06:19 AM

It mainly is here yes, imo. is it fact, or your opinion?
/r/MensRights16/10/12 06:08 AM

Wait now, who's my friend? What claims am I making? This is all moving much to fast for me, I can't keep up with what I'm supposed to have said somewhere apparently
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:21 AM
5

Haha yeah, that would be a worthwhile use of my time. No, this is too entertaining to get facts involved just yet.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:20 AM
6

Ah, okay, so it is your opinion. Thanks, that's all I wanted to know.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:19 AM

I assume you're still talking about Norway, so I don't really feel inclined to check up on the veracity of this pretty radical statement every single law, every single rule that is put in place these days is in favour of women with very few exceptions since I know that isn't the case in the U.S, so I'm just going to leave you to it.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:11 AM

I mean, even invoking Stalin or Pol Pott from time to time would at least add some variety.

What the heck did SRS have to do with the SPLC's classification? I have a hard time believing any of what you're writing when you're specifically putting a rosy tint on everything related to SRS's motives. Anyway, kinda sounds like you have your own personal bias the other way.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:06 AM

Just look. Just study it out, study it out and you'll see.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:03 AM

Except the rest of reddit makes those comparisons, not SRS.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:02 AM
7

One of the main points of SRS is that racist jokes are indeed....racist.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:01 AM
2

having a group of people shame people (who it could be argued, half the time aren't even doing anything wrong) speaking of specious and preposterous, jeez, I think you just took the cake.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 04:00 AM
2

And I bet you just got banned from /r/pyonyang, didn't you?
/r/MensRights16/10/12 03:59 AM

Those numbers are meaningless without knowing how many of those banned were subscribed.... which you don't.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 03:58 AM

Remember, most people here are based in the US, where women's equality hasn't come nearly as far as it has in Norway. We still have a lot of ground to make up.
/r/MensRights16/10/12 03:55 AM

You really don't understand the difference between satire and hypocrisy?
/r/MensRights15/10/12 09:55 PM

Again, I'm saying there shouldn't even be a debate on whether or not to keep SRS around, (any more than there should be a debate over any sub) as there is no evidence involving them with any of this.
/r/MensRights15/10/12 04:27 AM

"No-one should have identifying information posted on the internet without their consent" could have SRS-ers posting as replies to the r/SRS thread, "Obviously the same logic doesn't apply when the information identifies women, since reddit doesn't think they're people", an image macro of a man in a smoking jacket saying, "Consent... is for paedophiles" You understand that this is a satirization of the views of the rest of reddit? SRS does that quite a lot, probably worth mentioning. Any attempt…

Well, turnabout is fair play, yadda yadda
/r/MensRights15/10/12 01:28 AM

Unfortunately for your opinion there is actually zero evidence linking SRS to the Gawker expose, so it's pretty unreasonable to suggest even the discussion of banning them based on that criteria.
/r/MensRights15/10/12 01:26 AM

While the descriptions painted here do seem to paint ShitRedditSays as being unintellectual and slightly bigoted, that doesn't really seem supported by the comment above... at all. where did you come up with that?

probably not; I'm an SRSer and I have been spammed; there was no word of this on the fempire
/r/seduction24/06/12 08:33 AM

It sure was awful, but SRS didn't really have anything to do with it, which is a misapprehension that a lot of people seem to have.
/r/MensRights13/04/12 02:34 AM

Nope! That doesn't prove anything. It actually looks like it was made up after all.

None of those reports actually prove that the user and the jumper are the same person. Actually, there's considerable evidence that this is actually false, according to this article.

yeah, it's sad the way they delegitimize serious issues that men actually face in society, just turning themselves into a joke. But everyone here seems so convinced that we're out to hate them that unless you agree with everything they say, they assume you're some hateful troll and ignore you.

Okay, if you want proof that Elam at least is fronting a hate group, I am not going to stop. You see, I find you, as a feminist, to be a loathsome, vile piece of human garbage. I find you so pernicious and repugnant that the idea of fucking your shit up gives me an erection. he also said this I’d like to make it the objective for the remainder of this month, and all the Octobers that follow, for men who are being attacked and physically abused by women – to beat the living shit out of them. I'm not the one who declared you a hate group, though, so the burden of proof isn't on me. I'm still curious though why some people here aren't contending that they were correct in classifying the white supremacy groups, or the radically fundamentalist religious groups, any of the other groups on there. Just you guys.
/r/MensRights10/03/12 03:08 AM
2

Aww, if I hurt your feelings you can just say so, no need to be mean. I guess I should have expected it though, since you're part of an officially recognized hate group and all...Anyway you guys are pretty entertaining so sorry but I'm not leaving any time soon!

A taste of my own medicine? I guess since I'm from SRS you're assuming I hate men and think that they face no problems at all in society? These attitudes are the reason that you guys don't have a lot of allies or mainstream support. I mean, did SRS ever link to the thread? Do you even know? Or are you just guessing? It certainly isn't anywhere on the front page, and I even tried a quick search that turned up nothing. So this wasn't any sort of organized attack by SRS. and LOL at the idea of us e…

All that proves is that it's not 2XC (kind of), it doesn't prove in any way that it's at all SRS's fault. The thread isn't even linked to on SRS- I found it here, which means if anything it's MR's fault. Plus, just because it was only linked from outside sources doesn't mean that no one commenting in there subscribes to or frequents 2XC. I do both of those things, so in that way it is an accurate reflection of the community. And by the way, I'm neither a boy nor a man. And I would have thought t…

Oh, is it? No MRA could possibly be upvoting me?
/r/MensRights09/03/12 08:18 PM

Wait, are you suggesting that SRS claims to be reddit's "morality police?" Really? You think that? And please, show me an example of /MR showing support for 2XC.
/r/MensRights09/03/12 08:16 PM
-5

Can you show any evidence that it isn't?
/r/MensRights09/03/12 08:14 PM
2

I find it very ironic that you guys are complaining about SRS 'invading' and downvote brigading the thread, when I've seen several people that I've tagged as MR posters all up in that thread. Why is that sort of behavior only unacceptable when it comes from SRS?
/r/MensRights09/03/12 07:42 AM
1

Mmm yes if the votes aren't going your way just blame SRS, they must be at the bottom of it somehow

Several of them already served their time, though.
/r/MensRights09/03/12 06:34 AM

So, I don't see anyone here complaining about any other classification they've ever made of a hate group. In fact I've seen several people say that they support/supported SPLC. Do you really think it's likely that, out of all the hate groups they've called out, these MRM sites are the only ones they've misclassified?

What did she actually say? I missed it.

I guess if you want to call me a child instead of actually responding to my point that's a perfectly valid rhetorical response, but, you know, I don't think it'll get you many points

I mean, are you asking if it's a law? If so, the answer's probably no, but I'm not a lawyer, so my guess there isn't worth much. On the other hand, it's a shitty thing to do, you know, morally- if you can avoid socking someone in the face, you should do that just because it's what a good person would do
/r/MensRights07/03/12 05:08 AM

You might just as well say that people born with a naturally stronger/bigger body have "privileges" in regards to becoming weightlifter, boxer and suchlike. Yes, this is exactly what privilege is! Able-bodied people are privileged over people with disabilities. I knew you could understand this if you just put your mind to it!

Did she threaten him? The sound wasn't very good, because I missed that. Did she say she was going to call the cops or something?

I think her intent was probably to defend herself and get him to back off, since he'd just cornered her and was already acting violent.

She asked him to leave, and then he cornered her. He was the first to start acting violent, with all the kicking. He is in her face, shouting at her, and it looks like she can't get away. She hits him on the face, he blocks her a couple times, then punches her in the face. She's visibly hurt- she starts moaning, and he drags her away. It was pretty horrific. I think he was the main contributor to the violence of the situation- he physically intimidates her by violently kicking things and backing…

Wait, are you really saying that there aren't portions of society that look down on women (or anyone, really) for using a sex toy? I'm not trying to say that there isn't a stigma against men using sex toys (there obviously is) but that there are plenty of groups that stigmatize sex toys for women and men. If that enrages you or seems off tpoic I'm not really sure what's going through your head

Yeah, wow, I'm so totally hating you right now... because I hate all men.. and wish them harm, and stuff Or did you mean all the hate here towards Rebecca Watson? I've seen a lot of that on here

^ posts to Men's Rights am I doing it right? I mean, if you can invalidate my opinion based on the subreddits I post to, does that mean I should do the same thing to you?
/r/MensRights06/03/12 11:21 PM

No, because I'm from SRS everything I say is an attack to you guys so you should downvote me, because otherwise... something bad will happen? I'm not clear on that part just yet

What made my comment seem belligerent to you?
/r/MensRights06/03/12 11:14 PM

I explained gender roles because you clearly didn't understand the concept- and you still seem pretty confused. All I was trying to say is that they exist, so telling me that you "don't see a problem with that" is kind of off the mark. Nowhere in my comment did I say they were good or bad. I'm kind of concerned about your reading comprehension because you keep making assumptions about what I've said that aren't actually supported by what I've written. Gender roles can be associated with/contribu…

So I'm assuming your next argument would be that a bias towards men's rights is less likely to distort logic and reality than a bias towards feminism?
/r/MensRights06/03/12 06:44 AM
2

Are you serious? Are you actually trying to tell me you doubt the existence of gender roles? People don't make personal choices in a vacuum, you know. the decisions people make about their lifestyle and career are strongly influenced by the society and culture around them, and anyone who argues otherwise is simply ignorant. By simply saying people choose careers because of "personal preference" you're still dodging the question of why. Why do certain people, and certain groups of people prefer c…

Really? do you have a source for that? I'm having a hard time coming up with people who are opposed to male birth control, other than the Catholic Church which just opposes birth control in general, and not for the reasons you listed.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 05:42 AM

...have you ever actually observed a woman masturbate? (no, porn doesn't count)
/r/MensRights06/03/12 03:05 AM

Are there really a lot of people speaking out against male birth control? Everything I've read about it seems pretty positive; I can't think of a group that's come out in opposition of the projects currently in development.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 03:04 AM

Yes, lots of people will look down on you for having a sex toy, no matter what your gender is. I've had girlfriends whose mothers found their sex toys, and let me tell you, they got hell for it.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 03:01 AM
1

Ah, you're so close, but you seem to be missing the deeper issue here- you say " less women are interested in these jobs" but why is it, do you think, that women aren't interested in politics? If there's apparently "nothing holding them back," what's stopping them? Also, It would be equally ridiculous to claim that women are privileged to be hired as elementary school teachers because there are more female teachers than male ones. This is an example of gender roles, which can be very related to …
/r/MensRights06/03/12 02:57 AM

No, but likewise you can't focus on all issues all the time. Someone who self-identifies as a feminist is probably first going to be concerned with bringing women up to the level of men in areas where men have privilege over them. Yes, there are lots of things that activist groups should advocate for, but generally it's a better strategy to work on one/a few issues at a time. Suggesting that feminists (or anyone, really) thinks that mendeserve to be homeless or in jail is pretty absurd. Though I…

You say cost, like all those things are a result of men being in power. Are they, though? I haven't found any compelling evidence to suggest that all of those things are "costs" to being in power. And you know, it is possible to acknowledge that yes, men hold most positions of power, and that they are also disproportionately subject to certain societal ills. One doesn't preclude the other.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 12:48 AM

I'll just continue to roll right along over you presently Well if you're going to start with something like that, and invalidate everything I say based on certain subreddits I visit, it really doesn't make you look like you want to have a real discussion. I mean, would you like it if I decided all your opinions were invalid just because you post to MR? That doesn't seem very fair, does it?
/r/MensRights06/03/12 12:45 AM
1

The fact that it's called National Organization for Women doesn't actually imply that men can't join- after all, men can do things for women. But a name like Men For Equality implies that the group is comprised of men, who are advocating for equality. It just seems kind of silly to have such an exclusive name for a group that would be advocating for equality.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 12:42 AM
2

Well, for the U.S. at least, it's enough to know that men drafted all our founding documents and laws, and that women were not able to vote (or own property and other stuff like that), much less hold office, for the first 130 years or so of our nation's history. Even now, men are still over-represented in almost every branch and aspect of government. It's a very similar story with other minorities, especially blacks.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 12:38 AM
-2

Hah, whoops, obviously that should be "women's"
/r/MensRights06/03/12 12:33 AM
3

You seem to be missing the point I was trying to make; the people in positions of power these days are mostly men. Yeah, it's a very small percentage of the total population, but when we're talking about power structures, that's not really relevant. It's no coincidence that most high ranking business people and politicians are men. In any case, those percentages are all higher for men than they are for women.
/r/MensRights06/03/12 12:16 AM
1

Why would it even have to be "men" for equality? Can't women be for equality as well? Or do you want to exclude women from this movement? Also, I think mostly it's attitudes like this feminists who claim to be fighting for womans rights when they really want to dominate the other sex in all ways that hurt the Men's Rights movement.

how men held positions of power in the past; Tell me, what percentage of Congress is male, again? How many U.S. presidents have been male? What percentage of top-earning CEOs are male?

Wow, when did she make hateful comments?
/r/MensRights05/03/12 11:41 PM

Like it's even relevant if mens rights is anti women in regard to if mens rights is a movement about addressing mens issues. That's so weird that you say that, because I see it brought up all the time here that feminists are "anti man" even though they are dedicated to addressing women's issues
/r/MensRights05/03/12 11:40 PM

Are you a self-proclaimed MRA?
/r/MensRights05/03/12 11:36 PM

I'm really confused, how does this comic apply to the men's rights movement? I thought it was meant to be a commentary on the fact that just recently there was a panel about the birth control coverage issue and no women were allowed to be on the panel.
/r/MensRights18/02/12 02:23 AM
6

No, this comic is illustrating how ridiculous it is that women didn't have a representative on a panel discussing an issue of extreme importance to them. It really has nothing to do with the men's rights movement.

The fact that you left it up there just makes it look like you still believe it to be true. Most people will at least edit, and sometimes delete their comments when they realize they're wrong. People are going to "put 2 and 2 together" and assume that since your comment is unchanged, you still feel that way. But hey, why am I trying to stop you from look like an ass? Go right ahead!

You know, comments aren't written in stone. Now that you know better, you could decide to remove what you now know to be a baseless accusation.

Does it matter when he said it? He acknowledged that she was way too drunk to consent to sex. At a minimum, that means that we can say with confidence her accusation was not totally without merit. And it's looking increasingly likely that there's a good chance he really did rape her.

No, it's starting to sound like he really did rape her.
/r/MensRights12/02/12 06:35 AM

So, wait, did you actually read the part where OP said she was way too plastered to make that call. and still think he didn't rape her??

Honestly it seems increasingly unlikely that this is in any way factual.

Hahaha man you are delusional. If you are that self righteous, I'm not going to make any progress here. Have you ever paused to wonder that perhaps you're not the infallible bastion of logic and rationality that you seem to think you are? That said, I will agree that supporters of the men's rights movement are some of the most hysterical people out there. I don't know if they've ever been too concerned with political correctness, though.

The thing is almost every social movement has these things. The media loves to focus on outspoken fringes (extremists, if you will) when it comes to pretty much everything. Movements are also misrepresented all the time- this happened a lot with the gay rights movement (and still does, especially when it comes to trans people). And I think just about everybody is emotionally invested in the causes they support, it's usually why people support them in the first place. No, those were pretty generi…

Why do you think it is that people don't take you seriously?

I suppose I should have been more precise and said they oppose a facet of the draft, or they oppose the draft the way it is now. They still hold this position.

I'll give you one last chance to make your point- you give me an example of some sort of progress the Men's Rights movement has made towards ending the draft (or getting women in the draft, whichever you want) that women/feminists haven't done, and I might actually believe that you have a leg to stand on here.

I'm mostly feminist leaning but the thought of treating men as disposable (which, make no mistake, is what you are suggesting) is appalling to me, as it should be to anyone else with half a brain.

So, nothing, just as I thought.

Yep, you're just ignorant. Many feminist organizations have condemned the draft, NOW is one example. They even say that one of the reasons they oppose it is because "men themselves are subject to loss of life and personhood by being subject to compulsory military service from which women are exempt"

You've done a great job of missing all my points, I'm not going to bother talking to you if you're going to purposefully misrepresent what I say. That said, I'm going to make just one clarification, because there's one point I could have worded better. When you got confused here: The fact that you think that women want to abolish the draft so that they won't be drafted is utterly absurd, the height of ignorance, and shows that you lack even basic understanding of the feminist platform. [Emphasiz…

I've heard multitudes more MRA's discuss the draft issue than feminists. Confirmation bias. Do you really hunt through feminist blogs and spend as much time reading them as MRA blogs? Based on the fact that you seem to think women don't care about the draft, I'm going to have to say obviously not. MRA blogs routinely discuss the draft because it's one of the few issues they've got they people will actually sympathize with them on. Very few people will admit to liking or supporting the draft, aft…

No, I don't think anyone should be drafted, ever. I think it's a pretty basic violation of human rights to force someone to go to war. If you can't find enough people willing to volunteer for your cause, it's probably not worth fighting. Anyway, what efforts have men's rights movement undertaken to end the draft that the feminist movement haven't?
/r/MensRights08/02/12 05:12 PM

Um, no, I'm going to call your two word comment a 'cop out.' Face it, women are doing just as much to equalize the draft as men are (which amounts to about nothing on both sides). No one really has done anything to be proud of with regards to this cause, but why should you expect others to help you if you're not trying very hard to help yourselves?

What has the men's rights movement done to help the movement?
/r/MensRights08/02/12 08:55 AM

Wasn't that true in historical times, though? By and large, the people in charge of raising armies (and most people in society for that matter) didn't see women as fit for combat because they were thought to be unable to handle themselves in a war zone, emotionally or physically.

There are plenty of feminists who are also pacifists that argue for the abolishment of all conscription. Very few are arguing for adding women to the draft, but I've heard the idea proposed. It's hardly surprising that this is an unpopular idea, though. No one likes the idea of being sent to war against their will.

I don't know if that's always the case; I think a good counter example would be the slut walks- primarily, they were about the misconception that rape victims were 'asking for it' but I think they also helped normalize women who are 'sluts,' and enjoy being promiscuous, sending the message that there is nothing wrong with that and that a woman doesn't 'deserve' to be mistreated because of it. And this may be incorrect, but I've always had the understanding that one of the tenets of feminism was …

Well, why not post those instead? This neither confirms nor disproves those, since she hasn't been convicted or sentenced yet. It seems kind of silly to complain about the disparity when the article doesn't actually contain such a disparity.

Feminism is the United Kingdom "Religion of State" like Catholicism was for Spain. Wait, I though England actually had a state religion- isn't it still the Church of England, or some Anglican thing?

I didn't get the impression that it was intended to prove that all men are rapists, just that these 'lad mags' are pretty shitty and perhaps not the best place to go for sex/relationship advice

So, women getting the right to vote was about hating men? What about when they entered the workforce? I guess that was just so that they could steal job fro men and have the opportunity to hate them all day long. And when they wanted equal pay, well, that was just because they wanted to take away all the men's money. I guess I've kind of outed myself already, but I consider myself to be a feminist. I certainly don't hate men- I love them, a lot of them actually. My dad, my grandfather, my uncles…

Well if that were true, wouldn't it mean that men were being injured less frequently? I'd have thought that would be something to celebrate.
/r/MensRights30/07/11 05:31 AM

Nope, definitely not implying that all men have a perfect life, that's not even close to what I meant. And I disagree with the statement that we all have privileges in society because of who we are. Can you think of a single privilege that society confers on a female African American lesbian? I can't. And I sort of disagree with your wording "there happens to be a lot of men in charge" as if it's some sort of coincidence. Buuuut considering the forum I'm in I suppose I should stop right there.

Well, maybe it's man-hating the way you define it, but that's certainly not the way most people would define it.

Do you really, honestly believe that men don't experience certain privileges over women, just because they are male? Or do you have a stricter definition of 'patriarchy' than I am thinking of?
/r/MensRights29/07/11 07:17 AM

Well, aren't more injuries always a bag thing, regardless of who is being injured?
