I’m not gonna tell you if I think that in and of itself is sus or not. That’s a unique situation that will differ across people. Snapchat’s disappearing chats and pictures is an oddly discreet form of communication between an older person and a younger person. Its not always bad of course, but because it’s not traceable and doesn’t allow you to record it without it being obvious to the other person, there’s obvious issues in how it deals with harassment and inappropriate contact. It’s also a soc…

It’s so gross, and based off of what OP says about his friends behavior and remarks towards young women, I’d be inclined to believe that he is pedophilic. Idk I would’ve cut him off already. Sounds like a creep.

No comment on him being a pedophile or not, but if someone is out of high school and college and still using Snapchat regularly, especially adding people far out of their age group, that’s automatically a red flag for me. There’s a lot of very suspicious behavior on there imo.

Ofc! You can always message me if you want to talk about it more. Please do take a break from it though. It isn’t your responsibility.

That sounds infuriating. Honestly, it isn’t worth your time to argue with him. Most RP men are incredibly stubborn, and they especially do not listen to the advice of women. Arguing with him only going to hurt you, because in his mind, his beliefs are 100% factual. There isn’t a piece of evidence you could show him that he wouldn’t argue is false. Show him that there are consequences to the mindset. Limit communication. If you talk, leave when he starts talking about RP bs. If he’s young, maybe …

It is more complex than I said. But when men go out, generally speaking, they’re not scared of being targeted for being men. Even if violence against women seems overblown in the US, it’s an understandable fear. Women are targeted for being women. No amount of statistics or anecdotal evidence will reduce my fear of assault, kidnapping, murder, etc., because theres too many awful stories out there.

I don’t feel comfortable leaving my house or lingering in a public area by myself. Violence against women seems to be on the rise, and to me, the safest way to avoid that it to just never go out alone. Even if I carried a gun or learned hand to hand combat, my safety isn’t certain. One could argue that men have those feelings too, but for men, it isn’t a deep fear that someone will target you just because you are male.

The concept you described sounds like the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. Maybe OP should look into that to understand her thoughts and her associations with those words.

You’re so patient and levelheaded. This community needs more people like you, and these young men need more role models with those traits.

Even if it weren’t true, would you want to entertain the possibility of an abuser and criminal influencing you? How would you feel if any of your female friends or family members were in a situation like the ones the victims were and are still in? Would they be okay with you having the same mindset?

Not good advice. Don’t think it belongs here

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
