During WW2 Churchill was receiving his daily briefing… “Anything else?”, “We’ll actually Prime Minister, there will be a story in the newspaper today regarding a Naval officer and a female auxiliary caught, shall we say in flagrante, in a public park yesterday evening”, “What!!! Both nude”, “Yes PM”, “Both naked, in a park, in public, in the dead of winter”, “Yes Prime minister”, “Makes you proud to be British doesn’t it”.

Well thats just not true, sure, if you’re causing a disturbance no matter what, you run the risk of having your collar felt, but the fact remains you can be arrested for simply saying words that somebody else finds to be obscene. As far as for being outright offensive as in your scenario, that would make you a massive dick, but still I disagree in that it should be arrestable, for who is to decide? Its an absolutely subjective thing, what each of us is offended by, and thats just the moral stand…

But you can be detained for shout fuck in the street, where is the racism pray tell? Racism is not the only speech that can/will result in your arrest, what a ridiculous thing to say!!!!!! The huge majority of things that will get you arrested are, i think we would all agree, pretty shitty things to say, by no means all though, but still, they shouldn’t result in any legal action at all.

Nah, in UK we have the freedom of expression but as you say there are ways, a lot of ways, in which that that doesnt apply ( and not in a fire in a crowded theatre sense), therefore we have no freedom of speech in a 1st ammedment vein. For example if you were to shout FFFFUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK in the street you could be arrested for it on the grounds of obscene language, it doesnt have to hateful or harmful at all, the certain circumstances you refere to are pretty damn arbitary depending on wether t…

agreed, the problem is that it seems they feel that the entire world should be changed so that they dont feel insane anymore, which just leads to the rest of us being told to do blatently ridiculous things or be held responsible for this lady, and others, insanity!!!!!

It’s called drink-driving as you don’t have to be drunk to be over the limit. Further, as it’s our language surly the default position is, or should be, that how ever we say something is the correct way, and anyone pronouncing things differently to us are the one who need re-education.

I moved to VN two years ago to work as a teacher here, best move I ever made. I have a job I love, I get paid well for very few working hrs and I live like a king on my days off. 100% recommend Vietnam.
