Sorry to read this mate. I had a similar experience when we moved to Vietnam in late 2024...it became a miserable for me and I ended up returning to the UK after 8 months. We'd been together for 9 years and actually first met over there when I was backpacking before living in the UK together. She was never physically violent though like this, it sounds horrendous. Get out of there and don't look back. Her being a mental case is not your problem or fault.

Sorry to read this mate. I can feel your pain. I moved to my wife's country a couple of years ago and it was a move we planned and were excited about for years. But when I got there it was clear she didn't want me anymore, so I took the very hard decision to leave and come back to the UK. Be easy on yourself, brother. 20 years is still an achievement, so I doubt very much you were as bad as you're making out.

Hey man. I can really relate. People keep saying to me, well it's lucky that you didn't have kids, but that stings the most because we really tried. It hurt us both. I always wonder if we did have a child, would we still be together?

Yes. A yoga/religious cult. She used to keep a picture of me in her wallet. Then I noticed one day I'd been replaced by a photo of their cult leader who is long dead.

It's my first Christmas without my wife since 2015 and it hit me a bit today. We'd always make it special for each other and I miss her.

I bought a metal detector, been cycling a lot, cooking, reading, writing, pleasing my pets.

Hey man. Sorry to hear you're going through this. I can feel your heart break hearing about your pets. Can you get them into your own country? I brought my two cats and dog from Asia back to the UK this summer after my split. It was brutal but worth it in the end.
