I was just discussing this in another thread about female physical standards in combat roles. I went through the Louis F Garland academy years back and the women in the academy were literally given a free pass on failed simple exercises that would utterly disqualify a man. Women who couldn't drag a 100 pound dummy 2 feet without a five minute break. Shit really made me mad.

Yeah I can definitely see how hard it would be to know that you were giving the easy route when your peers all maintain separate standards..that is a heavy burden to carry throughout your entire military career. Props to the women who are actually passing these new standards, though I still don't believe the new challenge remotely correlates to physical stress on the job for combat fields. When I was in the fire academy we had women in training who had the delusions of "women can do anything men can do!" They had drastically different physical requirements then us, 15 minutes to complete their firefighter combat course (with water brakes) to our 5 minutes, not to mention the special treatment they got for all the other physical trials as well at their PT requirements.
