Go back and watch any sitcom from the 90s. Characters were going on dates with people they barely knew all the time. While these shows are obviously fiction they did not invent the idea of going on dates.

In the 90s people didn’t go on dates, you just invited people to go for a social activity. Going on official dates was something losers would do. This is the dumbest thing I have ever read.

Maybe it's an age thing. I think when people get into their thirties they start being more upfront about what they want. By our thirties most of us have been around the block a few times and we're not going to be put off by someone saying "yeah, rough me up a little bit". My girlfriend told me on our first date about some female comedian who had this joke about what she likes a guy to during sex and ended the joke by saying "...and then get a little bit rapey", suggesting that she likes that kin…

My bad, didn't see the edit. So you have this conversation where they say they like romantic sex, you say you like aggressive sex, and they aren't put off? Do you go into the specifics; like you like choking, etc? What do they say to that? I'm just curious because most girls I've been with like ass-slapping or hair pulling, but I've only been with a couple that enjoyed being choked (at least, enjoyed enough to ask me to do it; it's not something I enjoy doing so I haven't tried with anyone else)…
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/22 03:18 PM

But you didn't answer the question. The girl says they like more sensual, romantic sexual encounters according to you, yet at some point you start slapping them and choking them anyway. Are you at least asking before you do these things?

I agree with most of your post except for this: Something is going wrong in your current relationship? Simply give up and cheat with someone on a dating app, or find someone else from the VAST pool of options. This is a pretty sad outlook on relationships. You're basically saying people have always been willing to throw in the towel on a relationship when it got tough, but the only reason they didn't was because they didn't have enough options. Frankly, I don't know of a single person who's said…

I'm 39. When I was on the apps I would set my filter as low as 30, but honestly I rarely swiped on women that young. Thinking back to how I was at 30, I felt like there would probably be too much of a gap. 33 would be where I would start feeling more comfortable, ~35 through my age was ideal. EDIT: Since you're only 30, I'll also comment how I was at 30. I'd set my age range pretty low, maybe 25? But I wouldn't go older than I was. I didn't have anything against dating someone my age, but I didn…

Where's the female equivalent of Viagra? Huh? It took me five seconds to google this.

Gotcha. That's fair. I was with one girl who took forever to get wet; like I'd be going down on her for awhile and even afterwards she wasn't wet at all. In hindsight, I don't think we were very sexually compatible because she's really the only person I've experienced that with. I certainly hope most women are vocal about pain during sex. Sex is supposed to be mutually beneficial; if she's not enjoying it, I won't enjoy it. I definitely wouldn't want a woman faking enjoyment if I'm causing her p…

Okay, so how low do you stoop there? Do you try shit at some point, maybe it won't be so bad after all huh? I don't have any idea what you're talking about in terms of "stooping". Nobody's suggesting you go out and fuck everything to find someone you're compatible with. With food, you're just looking for something that will satisfy your hunger and tastes good (and maybe you're also considering how healthy it is for you). People aren't food. When you date someone you're evaluating a lot of factor…

Your analogy doesn't make sense. A better analogy would be like "trying a new food to see if you like it". You already know you're hungry, you're just not sure if you'll enjoy eating the food in front of you. Honestly, have you even had sex?

You literally just brought up that there's more innovation regarding men's pleasure; yet there are a ton of different dildos, vibrators and other toys for women. Men have the fleshlight and that's basically it. Also, why is it so upsetting to you that we just now mapped out the clit? It's not exactly hidden knowledge that women enjoy clitoral stimulation (whether some men do anything with that knowledge is, I'm sure, a completely different story). Also, what scientific research has been done on …

Can you give me an example of what a man would do that would actually cause pain? I can understand if you happen to find yourself in bed with a guy with a ridiculously large penis, but I'm guessing that's not what you're thinking of.

Looks-wise, I agree. Maybe unless you get really jacked, but I've got a very fit body and some muscle definition, though it's not super apparent unless I have my shirt off. Women I've been with have commented on it, they really like it, but I don't think as I'm just going about my day it makes enough of a difference to turn heads.

Honestly even as a guy I feel this way. Probably from a lifetime's worth of watching porn. Seeing a girl naked isn't enough to do it for me anymore; her showing that she really wants me does.

Honestly, I think we live in a really lonely fucking world. People are isolating themselves more and more, and I'm finding it increasingly more difficult to develop a connection with another human. For me, even if sex ends up being just a one night stand, for that one night I'm still forming a connection with that person. Is it ideal? No, of course not, but in the absence of something real it's still something, even if it is just a fleeting something.

I think if you're dating a girl that makes as much as you and still expects you to do better, you should re-consider dating that girl. I dated a girl once who made a lot more than me (she was a doctor) and she didn't have an issue with it.

I think you'll be fine on this sub, lol. To answer your question, the only "bad" pussy I had was a girl who was extremely smelly. I only slept with her a few times though so maybe it wasn't normal for her. Another girl had an extremely smelly vagina once and only once when I was with her. I've never experienced the "hotdog down a hallway" vagina and I've been with a decent number of women so either it's extremely rare or, more likely, it's some bullshit that some guy made up and it doesn't reall…

If a woman lacks ambition then most men don't give a shit. It's completely normalized for women to just have a simple low-paying job all their lives or even have no job at all. But doesn't this mean men are playing into the patriarchy too? If you're a man and you're willing to settle for a woman with a low paying job and/or lacks ambition, you're enabling that behavior. I've dated women with crappy jobs. I didn't like it. It makes me feel bad when I suggest doing something that might be out of h…

Women will never understand the visceral reaction that a man gets when he knows his girl has been run through. Define "run through". What kind of numbers are we talking? I think what makes so men think feel so insecure about this is exactly that - insecurity. If you've been with ten women in your life and you're dating a girl who's been with 50 men, then you know she has higher sexual value than you; that she's far more capable of finding a partner (even if only brief) than you. Y'all need to ge…

I was late to the party getting laid. I had a couple one night stands, and a few-night fling before landing in my first relationship. So basically, by the time I was with that girlfriend and finally started having regular sex, I'd only had sex a handful of times. Our sex life was great and I got her off regularly, basically right from the start. She never once complained or told me to work on anything, we just worked right from the start. Yes, because no woman has ever complained about how her boyfriend/husband spends too much time playing video games, or hanging out with his buddies, or watching sports, etc, etc. Nobody wants to be the sole focus of their partner's life. Someone who has no hobbies or interests or goals outside of their relationship are boring, and become dependent on their partner to feel good about themselves. That's not a good position to be in whether you're a man or a woman.

If you really believed that, you wouldn't ever go to a friend or loved one when you're feeling sad about something. They can't fix the problem, so the only thing they can possibly give you is validation, and if validation is worthless, then there's no point in going to them. In fact, there's no reason to go to anyone about anything, since their opinions are meaningless to you! You might as well just live as a hermit the rest of your life.

It's called having your feelings validated. For the same reason that women plead with men to understand that they have to put up with a lot of shit from awful guys saying/doing awful things, I, too, would like my experience to be recognized and validated.

I'm not exactly sure I'm following you then. Are you saying that if you can't have any kind of connection - romantic or otherwise - with a person that you don't have a physical attraction to then that's a red flag? Because if that's the case, I agree with you, but I'm also not sure how often that comes up. I mean after all we form connections with members of our own sex that (assuming you're heterosexual) have nothing to do with physical attraction.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/22 02:35 PM

When you completely abandon/ignore someone due to lack of sexual attraction, you are indirectly "saying" the relationship depends on sexual attraction. Because it does, but it doesn't solely depend on sexual attraction. It's just one part of the equation. You don't have to find your partner to be the absolute sexiest person you've ever met, but you have to be physically drawn to them. If you aren't, it's going to cause problems down the road.

I don't think women act in an unjust way. I just want women to acknowledge (and to be fair, many do, especially many here) the struggles men have. I know your struggles, ladies. I've heard so many horror stories about guys sending dick pics or doing creepy things or just being generally crude, awful people to you. I sympathize, and I'm sorry that this is your experience and that there are so many awful guys out there. Nobody deserves to be treated this way and it rather disgusts me that there ar…

Most people are terrible debaters and resort to all kinds of logical fallacies when arguing I don't see why being a good "debater" should matter in terms of communicating in a relationship. Communicating means being open and transparent about your feelings and listening (and empathizing) with the feelings of your partner.

Romance and sex are optional to health but human connection in general tends to be important to health. Human connection does not have to be romantic or sexual in nature. Reading some of your replies here, including this one, you seem like you're on some sort of crusade against romantic relationships. It has been a fundamental part of the human experience since humans existed, and will continue to be for a long time. Maybe you personally feel you can go without. That's great - truly, I'm envious…

In your personal opinion, is the woman you know just really amazing, or have I been unlucky? Frankly I do think she's pretty amazing. She has a gift for listening to people, and outside of her I haven't been in regular contact with a female (as a friend) for awhile so it's hard for me to remember, but I can think of a couple that were pretty great friends. Even the ones who weren't never once did any of the things that you described, so maybe you've been really unlucky.

I said they're bad for showing off your personality because they really don't let you say much about yourself. The way they're set up now you basically have to be good at being witty in very few characters. They're good for showing you people that are single and within your age range. I can go out to some social event with fifty people and there might not be a single woman there within my age range and available. But if there is, and we chat, it's a much better way of getting to know someone tha…

I'm a guy. My best friend is a woman. I've been in a funk lately and she's been there for me and I was literally just telling her yesterday what an incredibly amazing friend she is. She listens better than my male friends. She offers better advice than my male friends. While my male friends can be empathetic to my problems, she does a far better job of expressing that empathy and helping me to feel less alone. She's helped me to be a more empathetic person. Yes, people are growing more individualistic, but I think that's a bad thing. Loneliness is increasing. Suicide rates have been rising since 2000. Overdose death rates in 2020 were 6x higher than in 1998 (some of that is surely due to unintentional overdoses which can be attributed to the rise in fentanyl-tainted drugs, but not all). I can't find annualized data on people reporting depression, but I'm sure those rates have gone up too. Society is growing sicker; our mental health is shit and I'v…

I think most people are of low quality. They just don't care for self-improvement. Maybe I'm weird. Maybe it's because I'm single far more often than I not, so I feel I can't be complacent, but I believe in trying to be the best version of you that you can be. That means trying to remain fit, eating reasonably healthy, limiting how much you drink (or not drinking at all), being self-aware and recognizing your flaws, thinking about how you treat people, working on being an empathetic person, not …

Why are you telling me to do what I just said that I do? And why can't I do both? Real life connections are preferred, but they're more difficult to find. The apps are far more consistent in allowing me to meet single women in my age range, but those "connections" pale in comparison. One will find the most success if they combine these two options.

Speaking as an average looking guy with an above-average body, I've slept with women that were far less attractive than me. In most cases it wasn't that they were ugly, they were just overweight (sometimes by a decent bit). I didn't consider these women for relationships. I work hard to have a good body so I want a woman who does too. But if it's been months since I've had sex, and there are absolutely zero decent prospects on the horizon, then yeah, sometimes I'll drop my standards and sleep wi…

*shrug* what other options do we have? Especially as you get older, it's harder to meet people in person. I'm 39, I work from home and gave up drinking, so I'm not going out to bars anymore. I have some hobbies that put me around other people, but my particular hobby isn't one shared by a lot of women my age. Where else am I going to meet someone? I hate the apps, but it's the only place I can reliably meet someone, even if it's not that reliable.

I think we can blame the apps for this. They've simplified bios so much that it's pretty difficult to really say anything about yourself. You get a 500 character bio and maybe a few questions you can answer and if you can't find some way to be witty there you're SOL. Worse, when you do match with someone, because they similarly can't say a whole lot about themselves, there's not really much to comment on.

The benefit here is that you get to feel desired. I can certainly sympathize with the fact that having hundreds of men swiping on you who are primarily interested only in sex can make you feel isolated; like nobody's actually interested in getting to know you. But you have to know those men are out there, and the fact that you get so many likes can leave you feeling reasonably confident that when such a man does come across your profile, there's a decent chance he'll swipe right on you. Men don'…

I've got all that. I even had a girl swipe on me recently tell me she mainly swiped for my shoulders and teeth. Unless I'm shirtless though it's not super obvious, and unless you're hanging out at the beach all day if a girl is seeing you shirtless you've probably already convinced her to sleep with you.

I think this is 100% true. I'm in great shape. According to stats more than 70% of men are overweight at least. By that metric I've probably got a better body than 90% of dudes out there. I've got defined abs (not a 6-pack, but you can see something) and some decent muscle definition. It really doesn't do much for me. I've had a few women comment on my body, but only after I was sleeping with them, and I don't think my body played much of a role in getting me there.

Lack of relationship experience. I'm in my 30's and my longest relationship is six months. Dunno why exactly; I don't meet a lot of women, most of the time when I do there's no mutual interest. The relationships I did end up in, well, they just didn't work out. But women see that I'm in my late 30's, never married, no kids, never been in a long relationship and they wonder "okay, what's his deal? Does he like to sleep around? Is he married to his career? Is he some kind of weirdo?" The answer to…
