I agree. Had my first and was expecting some fucking serious magic based on all the things I had heard, but it sucked so bad. Condoms definitely make it worse than masturbation outright, I couldn't even get close to finishing. Blech.

"...haven't had GOOD sex..." No true Scotsman in an attempt to drag men back to the plantation with an expectation of something that is better than what they've had, even though it won't be. Women cannot into sound logic.

No, not particularly, I don't bottle up relationship-based emotions as much as emotions dreading the future, etc.

Oh okay, I just misunderstood - I was listing them as pros of a relationship, and you were talking about them as cons of shedding them. 6 one way half dozen the other. I know there is more time, energy, and money in not being in a relationship (although my only relationship cost me nothing in terms of money, but that was probably due to how short it was). The costs definitely outweigh the benefits rationally. That much is easy to grasp. The real problem is that the cold rationality that I usuall…

Is that a joke? Sarcasm doesn't transfer well in text. Those were a few of the benefits I came up with, I didn't see a point in listing the costs because they are so obvious - time and energy investment, knowledge that it will end and the associated pain, etc. I did this as an exercise to find other ways to fulfill those benefits (except contact comfort, think that'll have to be one that I forego).

Thank you, sir. I know it seems like I was trying to refute everything you said, but I only do that because as I think on it I know I will come across conflicts and I didn't want to be left without an answer. I will genuinely, strongly think on everything you have said. Thank you for the discussion and your time.

Nope, pure white. My father has been in auto body since he was 15, and he raised me and my 3 siblings alone. The whole "work isnt meant to be enjoyable" thing is something that I realized, and part of the reason I didn't choose mathematics as my degree. I don't like programming. I can't explain why, and I'm not bad at it, it just sucks.

I guess it might be a family thing, where I saw everyone in my family "pursue their passions"... until they came to despise it and were completely stuck. Again, what drives me is competence, or perhaps more accurately learning - but nobody will ever pay me to learn, and it has to stop eventually and I have to go apply what I've learned. I chose a science because research is close to learning, but not quite the same.

Reduce my standards of living? I have it down to 18 cents a day, one meal, on food, there is little more reduction to be done. I have to do this to pay for my college, at least for first year as I am covering the difference between my scholarship and out-of-state tuition out of pocket. I do acknowledge that I am imperfect, I am extrenely humble because I am terrible at actually accomplishing things. People tell me I'm smart yadda yadda but it's all bullshit, all lies. I am extremely stupid, I do…

I work out daily, and I seek competence and mastery in all activities I pursue. Right now I'm pursuing a degree in chemistry, not because I am particularly fond of it but becaise it will make money unlike things I am actually particularly passionate about like theoretical mathematics. I hope this will help prove my competence to myself, but likely it will not because I will find some other negative to focus on. I have mastered activities in the past, which only leads me to get bored of them and …

Success would be proving my own competence to myself. I have yet to reach it, I can only see myself as an impostor.

I couldnt give less of a shit about legacy, but if success doesnt drive me, nothing will, and i will just end up committing suicide. The only 2 things keeping me alive at this point are my determination to prove my own competence to myself and the hope that one day there will be a boogaloo.

The truly great in history take after Lancelot, they hate themselves. Contentment is the path to stagnation.

So I came up with a short list, then evaluated each one to see if I could find the benefit somewhere else, preferably within myself. 1.Emotional outlet - I have very close friends, I'm sure I could loosen the cork (as it were) around them and be emotional sometimes. Bottling it up all the time doesn't always work because eventually it builds too much pressure. Spice of the unexpected/surprises - I value the unexpected that came with the relationship that i had because otherwise i lose myself to …

I already do focus on myself, I just don't see much more that I can do for myself at this point. I'm in college learning what I need to learn to make some money when I get out, I'm fit and healthy. In fact, that might be part of the problem - I don't really have any goals anymore. I meet them and then think, "Okay, now what?" Then I follow that up with, "Wow, I am eventually going to come to hate my career like everyone does, and I can't do anything about it now." So it amounts to the problem th…

I don't necessarily see the point of valuing virginity, especially because I'm so inexperienced that frankly I wouldn't know what to do, but I do understand that even just "hot virgin" will cut almost all options after high school. Will post pics if I find El Dorado, but first I have to find something to do with my life to fund the exploratory mission.

Thank you for that response. This one has already really helped a lot.

Much of the emotions have already gone at this point, but there are still some that remain. I think the primary problem is that before I was ever in a relationship I gobbled up memes about the only value a woman can provide being sex. However, I found that that was actually one of the least satisfying aspects of the relationship, and realized that there is more benefit to derive. Of course, this can begin to tamper with my cost-benefit analysis and its conclusions...

The problem is that, rationally, I already know they're all the same. Unless you are making an argument for qualia, there isn't much reason to go through the pain of experiencing it. Furthermore, I don't think that trying my hand in the relationship game some more is a good idea for my fiscal or mental health, I'm already overworking myself through college as it is.

Except that exploring others would seem to be contrary to many points oft discussed here - relationships fail a cost-benefit analysis, etc. etc. The point of this post is that my emotional side left over from it wants to explore other relationships, but I don't think that's a good idea. Are you recommending that I explore other relationships anyways?

I cannot find my original source that cited the specific 5 year number, but it is worthy to note that the metabolization of PEA by MAO-B is well documented, even with the national institute of health, and levels of MAO-B increase with age. In other words, love fades at an accelerating rate as people age. I will stop citing the 5 year number, but it is important to note that PEA has near identical effects as amphetamines, and thus likely a near identical tolerance build. There is one oft-cited so…

Late teen boy here. Was sold on MGTOW before I ever knew the word for it. A few google searches of the things I was thinking about and I was there, at 16 years old. I was set on being a virgin out of choice. Now, when I graduated HS I fell for a girl and we were together for a short time, but I knew it couldn't last because I was moving across the country. Made the most of it with the time I had, but when I moved and said goodbye it hurt a lot. However, this has only affirmed my previous decisio…

Just a friendly reminder that it would have been better had Arthur Dimmesdale died immediately rather than living through seven years of agony. And he was only involved in a one-night stand.

Is this woman literally Gertrude? Kill a man and marry his brother? And teachers somehow still say that the depictions of women in Hamlet are unrealistic

"Must I remember? why, she would hang on him, As if increase of appetite had grown By what it fed on: and yet, within a month-- Let me not think on't--Frailty, thy name is woman!" Man, that Shakespeare guy was right about a few things.

It's not that I'm sad I can't have it in real life - fiction is a mirror with which to examine oneself and one's own society. I'm not sad, but it's a sad reflection on society that something as simple as fidelity must be a fantasy. I couldn't care less about being single in real life, it gives me more time for the very games I play!

I disagree with any MGTOW saying that the government should do something about the problem. Government involvement created the divorce problem, it's not going to fix it.

All 17 years in California here, divorced parents, broken family, the works here. I first adopted some MGTOW like ideas when I saw my brother get married - He was never nearly as happy and has literally 0 time. When my eldest sister married, I noticed the same thing with my new brother-in-law. I felt bad for them, and promised myself that that would never happen to me. That was when I was 15. Just here recently (December) I was recommended a Colttaine video by YouTube, and I sat around for hours…
