OYS Month #7 (previous: #6) Stats 36y, 5’10”, 176lbs, 16% bf (est.), wife 37y, kids: 6(f), 4(f). Married 12y, together since school. Lifting Prior to lockdown: stronglifts 5x5 beginner (since Jan). Week 12: SQ 220lbs, DL 220lbs, OHP 135lbs, BP 135lbs, ROW 140lbs . Have been doing body-weight exercises at home, since lockdown. Pullups are a recent favorite. I’ve lost focus on abs and suffered a bit with the way I hold my body. Working on that again now. I have visibly larger pecs now but still mi…

You've got me thinking here and you're right. I don't have the answer right now in terms of a better analogy or descriptor for the mindset but in the meantime I'm just assuming the following - If my wife were to die one day I would become a single parent. Therefore I will assume primary responsibility today - as if that were the case - that I may better care for my children, lead my wife and appreciate her presence and contribution for as long as she is around. (hopefully a long time!) Perhaps t…

Nice Post. I too am slowly coming to realize that I need to adopt the mindset of regarding the wife as a biological stepmother. https://www.reddit.com/r/marriedredpill/comments/6lodnt/the_biological_stepmother That is to say, she is a helper who assists in helping me to fulfill MY obligations to MY children.

I think you're right, she is earnest, loving and family oriented. She's instinctively feminine - has idyllic dreams of being a SAHM, making dresses, tending the garden and baking at home. But also deeply proud - in her mind, my comment deeply undermines "her" marriage, something she would count as part of her identity and achievements. (Fair enough I guess - the man she has looked to as a source of strength and leadership has not only sat on his rear for 11 years but also just confessed a signif…

OYS Month #6 (previous: #5) Stats 36y, 5’10”, 180lbs, 17% bf (est.), wife 37y, kids: 6(f), 4(f). Married 11y, together since school. Lifting Prior to lockdown: stronglifts 5x5 beginner (since Jan). Week 12: SQ 220lbs, DL 220lbs, OHP 135lbs, BP 135lbs, ROW 140lbs . Have been doing body-weight exercises at home, since lockdown. I notice a visible improvement in upper body physique. Diet Very good overall in terms of nutritional range and benefit - I enjoy salads and eat them consistently every day…

Consider also reading "Fascinating Womanhood" by Helen Andelin. My personal experience is that a woman can boost her SMV by +2 points simply through behavior - being a sweet, serene, attentive and submissive woman who smiles freely goes an awful long way. (To put that another way, you could easily be +1 compared to another woman but if you're too much hard work many men will qualify themselves out.) The original book is several decades old now and may be too much for some. The related edition "S…

I'd encourage you to post. So far, I've laid my heart bare and tried to be honest about my problems. Without exception, all of the comments have been positive and supportive. I grant you, the r/marriedredpill sub is more brutal. Having lurked for the 4 months prior to using OYS, I'd definitely say I've made a lot more progress since posting to OYS.

Lots for me to chew on here, thanks for the detailed reply. I'm becoming more and more bold and direct as time goes by - and this is definite progress compared to the old me - but I have a more fundamental issue which is about learning to walk through life with a sunshine demeanour and to deflect conflict & fitness tests with ease, grace and humor.

either you control your emotions, or they control you. It's a matter of self-control, and self-control is a Fruit of the Spirit. ... Focus on you, and lead your wife and family. Those changes will come in time. Most times when you're thinking "How can I get my wife to...?" you're focusing on the wrong thing. ... Get YOURSELF on track and lead, and stop worrying about HER. ... Remind myself daily that God is my focus, not my wife. You should type this out and make it the screensaver on your phone…

OYS Month #5 (previous: #4) Stats 36y, 5’10”, 180lbs, 17% bf (est.), wife 37y, kids: 6(f), 4(f). Married 11y, together since school. Lifting Essentially a newbie but I consider myself to be a lifetime lifter now. Gutted not to have a barbell at home; doing my best with the options I have. Prior to lockdown: stronglifts 5x5 beginner (since Jan). Week 12: SQ 220lbs, DL 220lbs, OHP 135lbs, BP 135lbs, ROW 140lbs . Reaching 2 plates (SQ) a big psychological win, just in time. Now doing weighted pull-…

You might try a different children's Bible as well We're using this one which comes with a Lenten plan : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0310708257/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0 I'd definitely recommend it, it's emotionally and theologically rich.

You might try Laura Ingalls Wilder's books Thanks for this. I've opted for Roald Dahl for now but it's great to have further content. I see there are lots to choose from. Do you have any particular favorites you would recommend or logical places to start? Little House on the Prarie perhaps?

Thanks man. BJJ is becoming good bro time - I make a point of socializing in the locker room and know most of the guys' names. That, with the gym and a sales job that frequently involves long distance travel, I get plenty time out the house. I've faltered at dread level 6. I've introduced more humor where I can and some basic kino such as playful hugs, butt slapping, twirls, pinning her against the kitchen counter, etc, with reasonable (albeit variable) success. My issue seems to be that I'll in…

OYS Month #4 (previous OYS month #3, #2, #1) Stats 36y, 5’10”, 175lbs, 18% bf (est.), wife 36y, kids: 6(f), 4(f). Married 11y, together since school. Lifting Stronglifts 5x5 beginner. Week 9: SQ 175lbs, DL 220lbs, OHP 115lbs, BP 120lbs, ROW 135lbs . Have been using a personal trainer to make sure I adopt good form from an early stage. Enjoying the process. I have relaxed the diet somewhat in an attempt to bulk. I have definitely gained good muscle - no question - but I also dislike the change in…

You're gonna find this TEDx video hugely inspiring and useful. In summary, some rules for life, borrowed from a drug rehab program: Practice rigorous authenticity Surrender the outcome Do uncomfortable work I'm not saying this will be easy. Good luck.

When I first started my RP journey, I thought I needed to be the best at everything. Yes, that's me too. However, I unintentionally crowded my wife out of the things she was uniquely gifted for. Hmm, I wonder likewise if that is me again. I do get occasional comfort tests about how much I like her, whether I would marry her again if we happened to meet as we are today, etc. She is not carefree and flourishing in her sense of self worth and (numerous) skills & excellent qualities. She feels crush…

Thanks very much for the comments and encouragement - you and a small number of others keep this forum alive. Now decide what you want her to handle (start with things she's already good at handling, such as packing lunches and outfits) and clearly delegate those areas of responsibility to her. Thanks - yes indeed I was slowly coming to that conclusion myself. We have a big family holiday coming up. Whereas I had initially planned to execute 100% myself (too much to prove, I know) you've nudged …

Great tips and densely packed advice, thank you. Four valuable points for me to reflect on in your opening two sentences alone. Yes, make stronger eye contact and stay solid in the uncomfortable silence I'm not too bad at this - something I kind of regard as table stakes - but I definitely lack finesse in playing the "game" itself. In other words, I'm not quick witted or humorous and I also need to learn better how to read and offer covert cues. I do recognize much of this can be learned and I…

Thank you so much for the reply and insight. The anonymity of the internet makes it much easier to be honest and it's heartwarming to see strangers offering time, wisdom and concern. But you're off to a great start, I'm glad you found this place! Thanks brother! "Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." Proverbs 16:24. These words leaped into my mind an lifted my spirit as I read your words encouragement. Had I not recently started the proverbs reading plan,…

OYS #1 36y, 5’10”, 165lbs, 15% bf (navy), wife 36y HB7 (was 8), 2 girls: 6&4yrs. Married 11y, together since school. Both from Christian families; I have been a Christian for 5 yrs, wife since childhood. Background I found MRP in typical fashion - dead bedroom (2x monthly). Man, I didn’t even realize there was a power dynamic between us (I’d have said we were equals) but now I can see just how keen a lapdog I have been for many years.. Excited to post my first OYS: time to start making myself ac…
